Leona - Echo 50,000 (weekly total 161,929)

Alexandra - Overcome 41,200 (weekly total 132,065)

JLS - JLS (not winners but anyhow) 79,500 (weekly total 239,644)

Here's also a list of first week album sales:-

Leona Lewis: ......375,872

G4: ....................244,671

Journey South: ....216,843

Shayne Ward: .....201,266

Andy Abraham: ...176,689

Alexandra:.......132,065

Ray Quinn: ..........126,985

Rhydian.............. 90,138

Ben Mills: .............63,500

Steve Brookstein: 50,989

Leon Jackson: ....37,197

And the second McElderry album: 35,609

At least, Matt Cardle 'Letters' is surely gonna sell better on its first week (28k on one day) than both McElderry albums. :P

Yes a lot of "non winners" get asked to perform at the Royal Festival of Rememberance in front of millions.

singing covers and only covers.....

singing covers and only covers.....

to a worldwide audience :) I guess you need someone who can be relied upon to sing in tune for that :D

really shows the fall off in album sales in recent years though - almost any of those completely blow out of the water everyone but Adele this year.

Yes sales have tailed off and I'm sure most of those runner up releases were tied in with Mother's Day. Cover albums always sell well then.

hope matt ships 70k or more this week!

Like Adele, Florence, Katherine Jenkins, Ellie Goulding, Michael Buble, Josh Gorban...

And Joe hasn't just sang only covers. ;) :D

Make You Feel My Love.

You've Got The Love.

Your Song.

These were also released as singles.

They also didn't release albums of just covers which is why I think Bre was slightly confused at you mentioning them.

They still released covers, whether singles or albums. That was the point. It really shows a lot about their talent when they do it. More power to them.

Also, Joe's Classic album is not all covers.

That's one out of seven singles by Adele, one out of nine singles by Florence + The Machine and one out of six singles by Ellie Goulding... last time I checked proportions like that don't equate to singing 'covers and only covers'....
