Posted October 18, 201113 yr We've all known for years that China's human rights record is appalling but this seems to have actually sparked some debate in the country. I'm doubtful it'll make much difference and clearly the poor child won't benefit as she is now clinically brain dead so I hear. But is it just possible sme good could come of this tragedy?? WARNING - be advised this video is largely uncensored 1D5Skqxb_6g
October 18, 201113 yr I just watched that with my mouth wide open. How is that allowed to happen? It's surely more of a comment on the country's social and community issues if people can just walk on by, most people in Britain would stop if there was a dog lying maimed in the road, let alone an actual toddler.
October 18, 201113 yr Un-fukking-believable..... :o :o TBH, the van hitting her looks like a deliberate act... How the hell does the driver not see her...?
October 18, 201113 yr That really is horrible! :o I do think they deliberately hit her as they ran her over with the back tyre after the first time and the van turned slightly towards her just before they first ran her over. It's shocking how many people just passed by without helping her!
October 18, 201113 yr I thought I was seeing things when I saw it and thought the van deliberately ran her over, glad I'm not the only one that thought that! Anyway, this is actually one of the most awful things I've ever seen. As Charlie said, nearly anyone in Britain would help if it was even a dog (or any animal for that matter), that really just makes it so much more awful to see. But, without being racist or anything, this is China so why am I surprised? It's just disgusting to see people walk past a maimed and bloodied child in the road like that!
October 18, 201113 yr That is really not a nice video to watch. Especially the van running her over... When I first heard about this story, I thought that the people passing her by were walking a distance away, and just thought that 'someone else would deal with it', which still is a really sad mindset, I just thought there may have been some excuse. But walking so close to her and seeming not to care, that's really horrible and shocking. There really is no excuse for that. Hopefully this can be looked at properly now, and move China on.
October 18, 201113 yr I read that Chinese believe that you're not allowed (although I guess it's not a strict rule per se) to help anyone in need of help since you interfere with their lives. Pretty horrible indeed though.
October 18, 201113 yr The BBC had people saying that no one would help because of a few cases where people helping have been sued for helping and been deemed liable for medical bills etc. So very American.

October 18, 201113 yr As Chinese myself, this news isn't shocking for me because it happens all the time in China. I was shocked however that no-one bothered to help the poor child. In China, some of the people there aren't human in a way. People kidnap people, sell organs, or sell kidnapped children to others. I once even almost got kidnapped myself hence I barely go out to China alone and always stay in Hong Kong where there's actually some humanity. It's also common for people to ride motorbikes carrying a knife and once they see someone with an expensive jewelry in the ears or neck, they would go near them and then use the knife to slit the jewelry off skillfully, in some cases the person lost their ear and had their neck cut. My brother got knocked down in China 3 years ago by a car and the taxi driver who drove him over even said "It's not my fault that he got run over, he stepped back and hence we crashed into him" whereas the typical response in the UK would be to rush him to hospital immediately. The Chinese would go literally anything to not get involved if it means it costs them the risk of being sued/money lost. Don't take it for all of China though, that is just from my personal view/experience. Edited October 18, 201113 yr by Oricon

I take it that kid who sold his kidney for an I-Pad and laptop isn't exactly an uncommon occurence either.....
October 18, 201113 yr No, it's very common. Once there was a bunch of tourists who hired a tour coach in Shenzhen, the city right above Hong Kong. The coach stopped for toilet facilities but one tourist went for too long and got left behind, later only did he realize the entire coach full of tourists had been kidnapped and all their organs were taken from them and sold. Another scenario is when one Hong Kong citizen was passing through the security boarders between Hong Kong and Mainland China when the citizen went to the toilet. He did not came back and then weeks after they discovered his body with all his organs missing. Sadly, it's a very common scenario in China. In Shenzhen where I sometimes go in order to reach my mother's hometown, there was a kid who was legless with a beggers pot in front, BUT then there were 2 people watching the kid. Me and my mum assumed the kid was kidnapped, they removed his legs and then put him to beg for money. I know I can be very stereotypical at times but it seems like that was the case. In the end it's all about MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, MONEY MONEY. Organs sell for A LOT apparently. That's why everytime I go to China, I dress quite trampy to and be extra precaution i.e. putting backpacks infront of me rather than behind my back and always stay close to a bunch of people :P Edited October 18, 201113 yr by Oricon
October 18, 201113 yr I barely even know what to say. What kind of a nightmarish place would allow this to happen?
October 19, 201113 yr I don't know what to say, seriously. I have a 2 year old nephew, and I cant imagine if he went through the same thing. Makes me angry and depressed at how much apathy has ruined the human race, especially over there. The first van must've seen the kid, the 2nd van didn't even try to go around her, instead it carried on at full speed over her body. Those people that ignored the toddler are just as much to blame, offering no help whatsoever - even the mom with a kid didn't seem to care. Atrocious human behaviour, we really can be worse than animals.
October 20, 201113 yr Chinese toddler dies after accident BEIJING – In a case that has shocked and appalled China, Clifford Coonan writes, Yue Yue, a two-year-old toddler run over by two goods vans and mortally wounded in Guangdong province as 18 passersby ignored her fate, has died, doctors said. The girl died from severe brain injuries she suffered in the accident. A rubbish collector came to her aid after the infant lay on the street for six minutes, but doctors at Guangzhou military hospital were unable to revive Yue Yue. Police have detained both drivers. http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/world/...172.html?via=mr Some sources say she has died, others say she's still in a coma. :(
October 20, 201113 yr Wow. :| And there I was, thinking that Russia is the worst country in the world. Apparently no.
October 20, 201113 yr Wow. :| And there I was, thinking that Russia is the worst country in the world. Apparently no. There's countries worse than China... WAY worse..
October 20, 201113 yr Pretty sure the countries around the middle-east are really on par with China. I've been to Cambodia and it's nothing better than the situation in China. It's just that the country has so many people so things happen more often.
