Here's a list of names that I think are in with a chance:

Azealia Banks

Etta Bond

Fixers

Frank Ocean (not many people seem to mentioning him here...)

Friends

Jess Mills

Lianne La Havas

Mz Bratt (not sure if being on the CIN single would rule her out though)

Neon Hitch

Niki & the Dove

Rachel Furner

Rusko

Skrillex

Sneakbo

Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs

Tribes

True Tiger

Unicorn Kid

Jess Mills, Tribes and T.E.E.D. are near-certainties imo

Spector, The Good Natured, Alex Winston, Kyla La Grange and Oh My! are my predictions. I'm hoping someone like Florrie or Spark make an appearance but I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

You do have to laugh at Jessie J winning this last year, considering the pile of cack she delivered as an album.

I would say Lauren Bennett, but she's on PRA (i.e a Top 20 hit), and she's in the new line up for Pussycat Dolls
They don't usually include bands with an album already out, non?

They included Warpaint last year and they already had an album.

 I hope TEED makes the list, 'Household Goods' is fantastic.

I was going to mention Lianne La Havas but I didn't know if there was any hype behind her at all.

Wretch 32 will make it on but he's not going to get any further than, say, Devlin levels of success.

This was a post made by Tirren last year. Actual LOL.

Lianne La Havas is a CERT. Major label deal, getting the feeler singles/gigs out there etc at the moment.
Florrie has to make it. I think she has enough buzz. She's the only new act I care about that has a chance of making it! I'd love Oh My! and Spark to get on there but I don't see it.

I'm sure all 3 of those were listed by loads of people as 'possibles' for the 2011 list.

They were but Florrie has came along a lot since then (she released a new EP and she has one coming before the end of the year) so there's potential for her. Spark has no real chance but I live in hope and I think Oh My! are too new to have been on last year's list?
I think Rita Ora is a big shout - she's not released anything yet, but she's on RocNation, but handled by the same people as Jessie J and Ellie Goulding, supposedly launched in 2012.

I'd say Jess Mills, but R1 have already playlisted some of her material - so it'd be a bit silly to try and promote the artist a second time around.

There's no one that I think will appear on the longlist - the likes of Delilah and Maverick Sabre have both now become intelligible.

I'm really not good at predicting that, my sources for "undergound" music are quite poor

I should check a few of the names dropped in this thread though, who are the most interesting ones ?

Bearing in mind I'd only heard demos at that time I wouldn't say it was that strange an expectation!

Oh My! should also be certs actually thinking about it - there was an article on the BBC I think about them and War of Words as up and coming girl duos that are masterminded by existing pop acts (i.e. Example and half of La Roux).

Jessie J winning wasn't that surprising given it was judged entirely off the sampler, which was brilliant to be fair.

Prior Radio 1 support is usually a good indication they'll be on there, not a reason they'll be left off.

Azealia Banks and Oh My! in my opinion, check out 212 by the former and Kicking And Screaming by the latter :P

Surely if Skrillex is nominated he'll walk this?

I wanted to say that but stood aside for fears of people calling me stupid because I'm always wrong about these things. He does seem like an incredibly obvious winner.

FLORRIE.
