But taking price into account, I am suprised Cher is ahead of The Wanted. I was sure The Wanted had a big enough fan base to buy there album at £7.50. And even if Cher is cheaper, you still wouldn't buy her album unless you really wanted it.

Music week

On singles the Def Jam/Mercury single We Found Love by Rihanna is continuing to breathe down the neck of Epic signings JLS

I doubt they'll mind RiRi breathing down their necks - I wouldn't! ;)

It's not as simple as that

Price ALWAYS have an effect on sales. Look at what the 59p promotion can do on Itunes, bringing back old songs right up the charts. Music is not a luxury good, so it's pretty obvious that more albums will be sold when they're at 4 pounds than when they're at 7 pounds.

Well I wouldn't buy it whatever the price so get what you are saying in some ways, however I have bought albums in the past of artists I don't mind, thinking oh its only £4 I'll give it a chance but I wouldn't pay £8.99 for it.

How can Pixie Lott and Ed Sheeran both be at #6 in the singles chart????

Could there be a real battle ahead for the number 1 album this week, im wondering?

Quite surprised Cher Llyod has over taken The Wanted, I would have assumed the Wanted were a bigger act with a bigger much much bigger fan base.

Sales ( this poster on twitter always gives accurate sales)

For those interested in midweeks this week -

Florence No 2 (30k),

Wow, it's all very close ! Actually Cher is only 4k behind number 1 :o She has no chance at all to be no1 but still, it's pretty good for her !

"Top 30

Diana Ross

Sigur Ros"

It's nice to see the various branches of the Ros(s) family sticking together. :-)

Rihanna must be very close to number 1 then, maybe number 1 tomorrow?
Those sales among the whole top 4 are extremely close, additionally, it looks like the whole top 5 could reach 50,000 sales upwards each.
Where are Professor Green and Rizzle Kicks in the albums? Sorry for asking again, but I really want to know if Professor Green has climed from yesterday. Could you add him in the main update for the rest of the week if that's possible? Thanks :D

Pro Green dropped 11 places from 3 (so down 1 more place since yesterday), Rizzle Kicks dropped 7 places from 9.

Actually only climbers and new entries are added to the summary :(

Ouch, that's quite a drop for Professor Green. Such a good album :( Wasn't expecting it to fall so much already. But thanks for the update!

It's not that simple, either. ISTM, reducing prices induces people who were thinking about buying *at some point* to do so immediately - thus increasing current sales to the detriment of future ones.

David Guetta/Usher should be listed in the main update as they're up to #8 today. I wouldn't be surprised if they're top 5 by Sunday, it's up to #4 on iTunes due to being reduced to 59p again.

Also, Pixie is #7 today but listed as 6 in the update.

Nicki Minaj's Super Bass is also at #38 today so needs to be added to the update. (Whoever typed up today's update must have been a bit tired :P)

Great to see Cher Lloyd overtaking The Wanted :D Pretty strong sales for all of the top 4, would have been nice to see some Coldplay sales as well though.

Not at all surprised at SuBo being #1 - I wasn't really expecting her to be there today but I did have an inkling it'd be there by the weekend, her style of music tends to be quite 'backloaded'. André Rieu and Birdy should finish the week higher than they are now I predict.

'21' back in the top 10 today :D I thought it'd drop out this week but it looks like it'll just survive, I doubt it has much more left in it now though (at least for its consecutive run - it'll obviously re-enter in the new year when the release schedule calms down again).

Ooh, Sigur Rós up a place from yesterday :o I really hope this can stay top 40 on Sunday.

I think JLS will still be #1 tomorrow and POSSIBLY Friday as well but Rihanna will definitely reclaim it by Sunday.

Very happy with Cher being #3 in albums with 26.8k sales already! Looks like she will sell more first week then Diana Vickers, Didn't diana only sell like 35k and get #1? Anyway very happy with that and the fact she's only like 4k behind #1 is great for her! Hopefully she will past 50k plus come sunday :D
