I genuinely do wonder what they'll do if Higher ends up going right in front while WAU continues to plummet.

What About Us - #250

Higher - #255

I know it's an older single but really, even before today with Higher doing well on iTunes, it screams a debut international pop single. It just sounds and feels right, much more than WAU does and ever will. It's just fun, catchy pop that appeals to everyone, whether they be old, young, a teen, male, female without alienating any of those audiences by being too sexed up etc lyrically.

I know. It's perfect for a debut. It has Flo Rida saying their names as an introduction for God's sake! I hope the label see how well it's doing and make it a single at some point. As much as I love the sound of their new dance material, I'd much rather they played it safe and if they get a second single release Higher. I mean, an album track by The Saturdays at #270 on US iTunes?

So Higher has now overtaken What About Us.... lol.

Higher = #250

What About Us = #254

US Albums:

#36

Canada Albums:

#77

Ooft. KEEP GOING 'HIGHER'! <3 (I always knew this would be the better song to launch within the US) Even though it's 3 years old now, they should have still gone for it as the lead single. It would have fared better! It's much more US radio friendly, than the euro-pop-dance sound of 'What About Us'!

Nice to see the EP hasn't drastically fallen away either!

I hope 'Higher' manages to get higher than What About Us did. Maybe they'll then scrap this release and run with Higher instead. Higher could easily be a top 10 hit for them worldwide compared with What About Us.

I'm not sure how it all works but since What About Us hasn't had an adds date on radio yet, couldn't they maybe send Higher instead and then release the video ft Flo Rida in a few weeks or something?

They could use the excuse that WAU was to promote the reality show and that Higher is the first proper single.

This is pretty much the story of The Sats careers. At least the Americans are proving a point with this haha.

The plummet of What About Us is worrying, especially as there's not a Chasing The Saturdays this week.

You have to take into account the other version lower down, too. It's still quite a drop, though. I'm interested to know what they're going to be doing during February before the UK release in March.

I had a suspicion Higher was going to do this, I recall there were a lot of new American fans complaining that Higher wasn't on Itunes a few weeks ago

Tbh, Had What About Us been reduced like Higher, It would have been interesting to see if it managed to go top 100. What About Us has been reduced to $0.69 in Canada and has literally done nothing.

Airplay is also dropping in America from 0.030 to 0.025, Ouch.

US iTunes:

230. The Saturdays - Higher (feat. Flo Rida)

272. The Saturdays - What About Us

627. The Saturdays - Notorious

691. The Saturdays - All Fired Up

709. The Saturdays - What About Us

713. The Saturdays - Ego

Actually, in the past few days, the airplay was much lower than that, infact so low it didnt even register in the top 1000 readio plays. This is actually a re-start for the song
The thing is..What About Us has been released a few weeks ago now and Higher only a few days ago. I don't think Higher is going to stay there for much longer.

Jeez, What About Us really is nosediving... I can't see it climbing back up that far now if it continues to drop at the rate it is. Oh dear. :(

I dare say they're not going to succeed over there. I said from the start What About Us was the wrong song to debut with and wouldn't do much for them nor propel them to stardom Stateside. It's more worrying that they seem sure that the reality show was the only tool they needed to help them do it (and that's looking like its fallen flat on its face now too). Hopefully the second single could do something for them but by then Little Mix will - most likely - have taken over a la 1D.

If they don't succeed over there and their UK situation doesn't improve after this album then I reckon they'll call it quits, especially with Rochelle just becoming a mum now too, and Ben not really getting to see Aoife/Una. Perhaps after a 'Greatest' Hits tour/album for the fans or something but how much longer can they keep going if they can't sell? I'd love them to keep going, success or no success, for the music but the label won't see it like that. And since their contract with Polydor was for 5 albums I think - and all things considered, I'd say this is the fifth album... would that contract be renewed if nothings changed sales wise? Where else can they go? Even Una said it was 'make or break' in regards to America and their career in an interview somewhere recently. Think it might have been that Sunday Mirror magazine where they dressed as cheerleaders or the Daily Mail one where they were in those sparkly dresses the other week - can't remember which one. :P
