I'm pleased. Free choice is what we need now for the contestants left to show off their individual strengths and let's face it, anybody can be somebody's 'hero' or 'guilty pleasure'.

It's not the fact it's free choice that annoys me, just the fact they try and cover it up with a theme when they could have one actual theme (for example 21st Century, Motown or 80s) and then one free choice.

I agree, Motown is too narrow anyway and will favour certain contestants, free choice is what is needed in this late stage, it never fails to make me roll my eyes at some of the choices, but broad themes are generally better imo

i actually like the theme its basically a free choice but who cares its getting close to the end so they should sing songs there most likely to release when the shows over none of them are really gonna release mowtown songs when the show is finished are they

Mashups rarely work on this show and their own previous attempt was quite awful so I'm not OVERLY THRILLED but we'll see. I wonder if the mashup will be Rihanna. She seems a plausible hero for them although they have already done Don't Stop The Music...

I don't know why they don't just have it as mentors choice and contestants choice this week instead of faking a theme. It's entirely pointless having themes on this competition anymore given they are just ignored.

Two of the WORST themes ever to have graced The X Factor in one show. Such a silly decision, especially at this late stage in the competition where the themed weeks are actually meant to mean something -_-

 

Another useless, pointless theme, I am sure 2008 was the last year they actually had good themes (and the talent to pull them off).

I hope Misha raps and Amelia gets a strong Rock song. Marcus will be in 50s retro mode again.

I agree on the second note. if she goes top 3 then that'd be fantastic, and I'd rather her finish 3rd or 2nd rather than 1st as for the last couple of years those who finish 1st don't seem to be doing brilliantly. maybe it's because they're males but I'm not so sure.

I'm just surprised that she's actually managed to top the votes on any week. :o over the moon, but surprised. I can still see the winner being no one but marcus though.
