Misha's in the same category as Diana and Cher though, both had LOADS of haters but they still managed at least a #01 single each.

Since when does media outrage and trashing stop pop careers in their tracks. Since time began from Mick Jagger, Diana Ross to Amy Whinehouse, Chris Brown and Christina A the press have given pop acts a hard time, when has it stopped a career even Michael Jackson was resurrected before he died. Cher was put through the fire last year and survived, young fans want good songs period. Amelia and Misha easily have the best chances of careers as they have the most talent, distinct images and single minded confidence.

For Rooney it is wishful thinking but Little Mix are not even as good or original as Sugababes 4, the girl group is done. Janet is not even a Diana clone her voice is awful, she will be big in ireland though. Marcus will find it hard to move beyond his Bruno Mars tribute act but I hope he does well. Every year it is the same thing Leon, Joe, Matt will be huge  but the voters rarely stay interested beyond the final because they are boring and do nothing original.

Don't you think though - that with successive years of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th places in XF - this itself has diluted the 'talent whirlpool'. Soon it will be that all 12 finalists in XF will have musical careers of varying degrees - and eventually XF will kill itself.

You may be right about Misha in that she has zero chances of popular success (as she's been assassinated by the media) it still doesn't alter the fact that she's the most vocally talented of everyone that the public (have been allowed to see) this series.

And yes - this does include Amelia.

The only reason the 3rd & 4th place finalists get these record deals though is because they've had the exposure of the show. Cher Lloyd was a love her or hate her character, plus to the average X Factor viewer she was something completely new. SyCo have done a really good job of marketing and promoting her. I don't think she would have done that well otherwise. Misha is the most vocally talented, but I don't think she could ever make it as a popstar. The damage has already been done like you say, but even if the bullying accusations had not come to light, I don't think she would have won. She would still have finished 4th / 5th imo.

Marrb I think you're very VERY wrong. The last two winners have been Joe and Matt. Both were well liked, but I think everybody knew they were never going to be popstars. Joe was always more suited to thearte. SyCo didn't know how to market him, or what direction to take him down, so they gambled on the camp-pop Mika style. It completely backfired. Matt Cardle was given free choice, but you lose credibility when you go on a show like this, so he might have gotten the right exposure, but he was given a standard completely mediocre standard Gary Barlow song.

How can you say the girl group is done! All these things go round in circles. Everybody thought the boyband was finished, but now look. A market over-saturated with JLS, One Direction and The Wanted. Music these days is all about marketing, advertising and exposure. Look at Adele, with 21 she was always going to have probably a successful era, but that spot on the Brit Awards (imo) is what has made '21' such a big seller. That performance and exposure changed everything for her. If SyCo know what direction they want to take Little Mix and Marcus (and the artists also want to go down this direction) then I think they could be successful. There is definitely a market for them. Janet not so much. If she wins it will be the worst thing ever for her music career. SyCo will have no idea how to market her. She'd be much better on RCA/Epic if she doesn't win.

I think only Marcus and Little Mix have a chance of a career in the long run, girl band's may not be that prominant atm (Saturdays aside and even they're starting to fade), but that definitely doesn't mean there isn't still a market for them

I can't see many being interested in what Amelia or Misha have to offer, as much as I like her, if Ellie Goulding and Diana Vickers can't make it huge, then I doubt Janet will

Bel Ami <3
I think Misha and Little Mix have definite music careers ahead, but if he wins I can't help but think Marcus will be another flop winner... Even if he doesn't win and gets the 'runner-up boost' I can't see him feasibly being that big. I dunno why... I do think there's some sort of career waiting for him though.

ellie goulding did do considerably well with her album though, not to mention that she achieved two top 5 singles, one of which hung around the top 3 for a few weeks.

I think that janet could fall under the ellie-route or the diana-route, and taking into account that she's from a really popular reality TV show of which she has generated a lot of haters (just like diana) I'm fully expecting her to fall under the diana-route. as long as I get an album from her I don't really care that much tbh. <3

X Factor Charity Single:

Pointless having JLS and One Direction on it, but I guess it'll increase the sales by quite a bit

It would be good for Marcus to win but it would be awful for him to join the ranks of more flop males. If Gary is writing the winners song and is involved in his career Marcus will have no longevity. I think Marcus is more switched on and ambitious than he lets on but his fifties soul image is dead. The winner and the acts that get signed will need to release sooner rather than later. Coming back late next year is not workable.

I hope SYCO keep the urban tinge that Tulisa has injected in to Littlemix.

The thing I like about them is not just that they sing well, its also the way they absorb choreography so well.

Their ET performance was just astonishing, right down to their expressionless robotic faces and even blinking in time to the music.

I'm looking forward to seeing a live show from them, it could be outstanding.

Janet's voice really stands out :o

Wow yeah, Janet really is the highlight for me :o Great charity single too, easy my fave since Hero!
Janet stands out because she's absolutely awful. People would buy an album of that? Personally I think Sophie is best.

HA! I completely agree - when I heard it, the only voice I could identify was hers, and in no way was it a good reason - it sounded vile  Could you tell me where Sophie's lines are please? :)

Also, I assume Frankie wasn't allowed to be on the charity single, due to it being recorded after his removal?

Janet sounded brilliant. :) I couldn't really pick out anyone else, apart from her and Sophie. And Kitty aswell.

But really, it's a terrible song and my least favourite charity single out of the four. But as long as it raises money for charity, I guess all is good.

it's alright. janet's clearly the highlight of the song though, her voice suits recording very well. I can't really pick anyone else out, but no one's voice sounds particularly bad.

Damn

Frankie in your sig = Not a good look

Janet sounds like a Chipmunk on helium that noise is even worse when recorded. It is hard to tell whose who but the other girls all sound very strong.

It's not exactly a good quality rip but like others have said the voice that stood out to me was Janet's - for all the wrong reasons. Her vocal style really isn't suited to RnB.

Also what is the point of JLS? From what I could hear, they shout "JLS" before the key change. Genius!!! :nocheer: Where are One Direction?

Is this really heading to #1 next week?

I'm genuinely AGOG that anybody could enjoy Janet's voice there. 'Suits recording' indeed... if the recording is a SOUNDTRACK TO SUICIDE.

It is hard to differentiate the voices but I'm fairly certain Sophie begins 45 seconds in after what I think is Marcus.

Janet's voice does NOT suit recording. Partially because she goes mute halfway between some words (in order to make a record, you kind of need to make sound) but mainly because her voice is so f**king awful.
