November 29, 201114 yr As expected, another big step down for the XF charity single. I really think we'll be seeing Rihanna back at #1 next week, or Flo Rida, with XFF at 2 or 3 (then they'll start plummeting from that point onwards). I hope Olly can hold #2 for this week. The Pogues in the top 40 :D Should definitely match the 4 weeks top 40 it managed in each of the last 3 years then. Sytrong sales for Olly's album so far but I think he'll end up with a second #2 album, Bublé is increasing fast. (I called this week as a battle of Olly vs. Bublé :kink:) Coldplay only down a place despite 3 new entries ahead of it :D Edited November 29, 201114 yr by Bré
November 29, 201114 yr Why does Joe Mcelderry always have to be compared to Olly They are 2 different artists..who happen to have been in the same Show......... and Joe's is a Christmas Album.. And why would Olly want revenge .. Does he still hold a grudge 2years on from Xfactor!! Joe's doing just fine with his career... ;) Good point re it being a Christmas album, its not everyone's bag and I don't expect it to sell as well as Classic for that reason. He's had virtually no promo so far (except a slot on QVC last Friday as was pointed out) and I think now its hit the supermarket shelves it may shift a few more units and grace the Top 10 at some point before the year is out.
November 29, 201114 yr Joe already beat Olly fair and square. And Joe didn't use dirty tricks to do it, just his talent. Also, Joe is an additional album given how successful his Classic album, and not the same promotion, so there is no comparison. I am impressed that Universal is doing so well with this additional album. Someone mentioned it already certified Gold, which is no surprise at this point. And given the success of this tour for Joe, he is set to tour again in 2012. I would be worried with Kelly and Tulisa's album given how much exposure and promotion they both have ---- NOT making Top 40 is bad. Edited November 29, 201114 yr by jonmove
November 29, 201114 yr I will be very interested to see how Rebecca's album does next week. The single is a bit repetitive and her voice is not my thing so not surprised it hasn't sold great but Heaven seems to be doing quite well in pre orders.

The single is a bit repetitive and her voice is not my thing so not surprised it hasn't sold great but Heaven seems to be doing quite well in pre orders. Her single has practically nosedived, and the album is going to get lost among the new xmas releases, might just scrape the top 10, I really think she is going to struggle.
November 29, 201114 yr Good to see N-Dubz and Kelly Rowland made the top 75 in the albums. :) The X Factor Finalists seem a certainty for this week then. Although, I don't have a clue who'll get it next week.

McElderry's first album was a major flop and sold only around 100k, compared to double platinum for Olly. Even Joe's second album has only sold around 200k. The only thing I can think is Joe's first single obviously sold more due to being a cover version on the back of winning x factor but thats it really.

I agree it will prob follow the same pattern as her single. If so it's a shame as I said she's not my thing but she can sing. On another note seems the person who posted earlier that Joe Mcelderry's album has already gone gold was correct. Official chart website posted this article. Well Done Joe :) http://www.theofficialcharts.com/chart-new...-goes-for-gold/ Edited November 29, 201114 yr by torresgirl

Joe Album 1: 100k Olly Album 1: 600k *Joe goes on ANOTHER reality show* Joe Album 2: 205k Olly Album 2: Well, over 100k this week so trouncing him. Again. Get real.
November 29, 201114 yr You misunderstand - I meant absurd that the OCC will accept sums, but not numbers. We don't know really if they accept this, but at least they don't bother with it since we use this formula :-)

I think he means on XF however can we not turn the thread into Joe v Olly we don't want it shut down because people are arguing and going off topic, which is what tends to happen when this debate gets started. There was a post earlier on this thread which summed this up quite well stating how different they are.

And why would Olly want revenge .. Does he still hold a grudge 2years on from Xfactor!! Joe's doing just fine with his career... ;) it was more a point on the fact that winning the x factor is not as important as the show and some fans of the show make out it is cus as ive said before the runner up tends to do better than the actual winner as this week once again proves. 2 years on they are releasing new albums in the same week and ollys is doing much better than joes i know that theyre not aimed at the same buyers as joes is a xmas album and they have different fans anyway as for the revenge thing i was just referencing the report on page1 (ollys revenge agiainst rihanna) ive got nothing against joe, but they are always going to be compared to each other as they came from the same show no matter how long ago it was or how different their music is anyway back on topic are the saturdays out of the top 40 already? thats a shocking chart run (if you can even call it that) Edited November 29, 201114 yr by louise_w
November 29, 201114 yr X-Factor single could hold up until after xmas with its cd sales! Unlikely - their sales are normally more front-loaded than Jordan's chest. :w00t:

Joe was with that awful label Syco, which we all know how crap they are. Joe already showed he was the better man on an even playing field, and didn't use dirty tricks, just his talent. The problem was the label, not Joe, and clearly more talented to be signed with Universal and doing successful. :) Look, Jersey Shore is the #1 show on cable TV, beating Mad Men, and Breaking Bad. It doesn't mean their is any respect for it. ;)
November 29, 201114 yr Joe Album 1: 100k Olly Album 1: 600k *Joe goes on ANOTHER reality show* Joe Album 2: 205k Olly Album 2: Well, over 100k this week so trouncing him. Again. Get real. Joe signed with Universal BEFORE popstar to operastar. :) How is that an even playing field? Let me correct you: Joe Album 1: 100k -----------------> SYCO, 2 weeks of minimal marketing, only X Factor performance, limited radio tour, limited/no airplay Olly Album 1: 600k -----------------> Epic, 2 months of marketing, various TV promos, gigs, and full radio tour, one of the most airplay, one-hour TV that Joe didn't even have Joe signed with Universal given how awful Syco was before popstar to operastar. Joe Album 2: 205k --------------------> Signed to Universal. Album to showcase Joe's voice. 5 weeks in the Top 5 straight. No airplay, no major X Factor performance, no big TV slots. Olly Album 2: ~100K -----------------> X Factor performance, Xtra factor host, one of the most airplay, various TV appearances. Again, Get real with yourself. Universal clearly made the most margin of profit. ;) Anyway, they are in different situations now and have totally different albums. And different focus. Joe already beat him fair and square, and will last longer. Talent always does. :) But, back on topic. Edited November 29, 201114 yr by jonmove
November 29, 201114 yr Oh dear Joe stans are even worse than Saturdays ones. Coming from a completely neutral perspective, exactly what dirty tricks has Olly done in order to be successful?

November 29, 201114 yr do we know where the saturdays are yet, and with the joe thing ive learnt to just bite my tongue. he could sell 10 copies altogether and joe fans would still say he is the moral victor because he did it with no promotion
