A 19k lead at this stage doesn't seem insurmountable but for all we know Olly could be increasing his lead day by day?

 

19k is a healthy gap between olly and buble although it still wouldnt surprise me if buble caught up, his fan base here is really strong

Woooop! I love this midweek album chart - the best one ever, even better than yesterday's!! So nice to see Olly Murs and Michael Buble, such GENUINE and DECENT singers in the top 2 spots. This has restored my faith in (1) the power of the market forces at work in the music business; (2) the taste and discernment of the British music-buying public and (3) the true meaning of Christmas being able to survive a cynical industry. thats actually really sweet i remember reading somewhere that crazy love sold more here than the US it was something like just over 2million in the US and almost 2 1/2 million here but i dunno about anywhere else

Midweek Charts update: X Factor single selling slower than predecessors

This year’s X Factor charity single is selling at a slower pace than its three predecessors, but the reworking of the Rose Royce hit Wishing On A Star is still a certainty to reach number one this Sunday.

 

The Syco-issued X Factor Finalists 2011 single had sold more than 80,000 copies by the end of business on Wednesday having registered 56,328 sales when the Official Charts Company unveiled its first midweek figures of the week on Tuesday. This compares to the 2010 cover of David Bowie’s Heroes having opened with around 72,000 sales on the first midweek chart a year ago before going on to sell 144,014 units across its entire first week.

 

The sales of Wishing On A Star are likely to be even further down on the opening-week sales of the first two X Factor charity singles. The 2008 cover of Mariah Carey’s Heroes debuted at one after selling 313,244 copies, while the 2009 reworking of the Michael Jackson hit You Are Not Alone topped the chart with 193,176 sales.

 

Wishing On A Star currently has a lead of around 45,000 units over Epic’s Olly Murs single Dance With Me Tonight in second place, while the Def Jam/Mercury-issued We Found Love by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris is third.

 

On albums Murs is ahead by about 19,000 units of Reprise/Warner Bros act Michael Buble’s Christmas with his newly-issued second album In Case You Didn’t Know and Rihanna is in third place on this countdown as well, with Talk That Talk. Like We Found Love, her album was number one last Sunday.

I guess he has been selling at a consistent rate...

Ooft. Cher Lloyd doing nicely in the albums. I thought it'd be well out the top 40 by now. Hopefully it stays consistant enough and manages to pull back in the new year. :D

For the past 2 days the X Factor single has been selling roughly around 12k for Tues & 12k for Weds when you calculate the difference per day, if it carries on like that, I make the total roughly 115k plus for the end of the week. It might just drop a bit more towards the end of the week though it might end up between 110 to 115k.

 

And I see Olly is gaining on the iTunes pop bars, its pretty close, bearing in mind he has no physicals attached.

They might normally have been expected to pick up additional physical sales on Saturday. However, some of those sales were probably made yesterday so it might not get such a large boost.

He hasn't been selling at a consistent rate. If he had, he would have extended its lead over Buble.

It means he has been selling the same as Buble yesterday, while he was selling a lot more than Buble at the begining of the week. If this pattern goes on, Buble should sell more than him today and up to Sunday.

Rebecca Ferguson looking for a huge drop come Sunday, expected i guess.

 

I wonder if Buble will take #1 come Sunday, doubt it, but he kept JLS off by a few hundred, wonder if he'll do the same to Olly..

Olly Murs still retaining a 19,000 lead may suggest Michael Buble wont catch him this week.

 

Take That continue to drop and are now just clinging on to a top 10 position, sadly this could be their first album to miss the top 10. I have read some comments elsewhere that fans are not rushing out to be buy it as it is the 3rd format as such of one album:

 

1st Progress.

2nd Progressed.

3rd Progress Live Cd.

 

Additionally the Progress Live DVD is also available so its alot to buy in a 1 year period when essentially it nearly all contains the same material.
