December 7, 201114 yr That's possibly the least interesting changes to the playlist I can remember. Shame that there's a few great songs being dropped though.
December 7, 201114 yr Good to see Flux Pavilion and Nero on the A-List. Hopefully the Sound of 2012 poll will help 'Superbad' be a second top 100 hit for Flux Pavilion. 'Reaching Out' is doing pretty decently on iTunes so far and should hopefully be a fifth top 100 hit for Nero. Meh at the other movers apart from Alexandra. Haven't heard the Joker song but I loved 'Purple City' by him. Good to see Radio 1 still supporting JLS but I'm sure the snubbage can't be too far off. Absolutely LOVE the new single by The Maccabees, I pray for it to be another top 40 hit for them - they went top 40 with their last lead single. Noah And The Whale releasing another single from LNOE? They should just move onto album 4 now I think. Edited December 7, 201114 yr by Bré
December 7, 201114 yr Great to see Wretch 32 on the A-List now. But it looks like the song could miss the top 200 officially. :drama:
December 7, 201114 yr Great to see Wretch 32 on the A-List now. But it looks like the song could miss the top 200 officially. :drama: I'm sure it won't. But it's his fault he's not doing so well now. Why on EARTH did he think 'Forgiveness' was a good single choice?
December 7, 201114 yr Good to see The Maccabees listed, it would be nice if it could become an unexpected decent sized hit at the beginning of next year!
December 7, 201114 yr I'm sure it won't. But it's his fault he's not doing so well now. Why on EARTH did he think 'Forgiveness' was a good single choice? Do artists in the early stages of their career like Wretch 32 have much input as to the single choices, or is mainly the record company deciding?
December 7, 201114 yr I'm sure it won't. But it's his fault he's not doing so well now. Why on EARTH did he think 'Forgiveness' was a good single choice? 'Forgiveness' is by far the best thing he's done imo. My love for it isn't actually due to his part in the song, but still.
December 7, 201114 yr Do artists in the early stages of their career like Wretch 32 have much input as to the single choices, or is mainly the record company deciding? It depends. Most of the rappers specifically make a few songs geared towards being singles, so they're essentially decided before they're even made! But listening to Wretch's album, I didn't really get that impression. I don't think Wretch 32 is even on a proper record label though, just Ministry of Sound, since he gets listed in the official Indie chart: http://www.theofficialcharts.com/independant-singles-chart/ Someone on here suggested they released it as a single to promote Etta Bond (who's recently been singed to Syco btw!), so perhaps it was that. It's a FANTASTIC song, but I think the better choice for the charts would've been Hush Little Baby. It already charted top 100 all by itself.
December 7, 201114 yr Which Beyonce song has been dropped - Countdown or Love on Top? Love On Top. (Odd that they've dropped it so early, but I'm glad as I hate LOT - maybe she's changed the single at the last minute again )
December 7, 201114 yr dropped Gaga just as soon as the video premieres. it's too bad she waited so long into the campaign to release this - had it been given second single attention it could have been huge
December 7, 201114 yr I'm sure it won't. But it's his fault he's not doing so well now. Why on EARTH did he think 'Forgiveness' was a good single choice? Hush Little Baby would have been by far the best choice. Commercial sound, Ed Sheeran on the chorus - guaranteed smash... I can't even remember how Forgiveness goes and it has 5 plays on my iTunes apparently, not a good sign is it...
December 7, 201114 yr I've said it before, but 'Forgiveness' is likely a 'filler' single before 'Hush Little Baby' is released. Tinie Tempah released 'Invincible' before 'Wonderman' - the big release (fan favourite) Jessie J released 'Who's Laughing Now' before 'Who You Are' - the big release (fan favourite + artist favourite) Chase & Status released 'Time' before 'Hitz' - the big release (fan favourite + big collaboration + opportunity to introduce Delilah) Wretch 32 is released 'Forgiveness' because it's his favourite track, he wants the message of the track to be made public - and wants to push Etta Bond; the first signing to Simon Cowell's 'Odd Child Recordings' subsidary label (run by Labrinth).
December 7, 201114 yr Invincible was also a popular cherrypick (got to #57 on the album release week, only 12 places lower than Wonderman) so that was an understandable enough single release and probably was the best choice in hindsight. Who's Laughing Now has also turned out to be the right choice as it makes sense to release WYA when she can promote it on XF etc. and it's a better album seller than WLN. Time ended up massively outperforming Hitz anyway so if that was C&S' plan it clearly failed. I really don't see how releasing 'Forgiveness' now will be in any way the 'right' choice. HLB would sell better and it'd sell the album better - if he really wanted to release Forgiveness he could have saved it for the 5th single when album sales are in the shitter again so it doesn't matter if it flops (and it would flop - it's just not a single at all). HLB was a no-brainer for fourth single and he/his label completely cocked it up. Edited December 7, 201114 yr by Bré
December 7, 201114 yr Bombay Bicycle Club :D Wish Friendly Fires would be higher up the playlist though! The new Taio Cruz, Rihanna and JLS songs are awful  I hope (by some miracle) they all underperform chart-wise.

Sometimes these choices are confusing. Look how late Florence left 'Cosmic Love' despite it being lauded as the best song on the album. By the time the single came around everyone had the album. She didn't even bother releasing 'Howl' despite it getting used all over the BBC at the time. Ellie Goulding didn't even put 'Lights' on 'Lights' and only used it to promote the re-release despite it also being the best thing she did. Edited December 7, 201114 yr by Paramore
December 7, 201114 yr The snub of Cosmic Love until the dying days of the album's success was bizarre. I think it should have been released as the album's lead single rather than Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up).
December 7, 201114 yr Here's a Wretch 32 interview. The whole interview is great, but this bit in particular: http://www.purplerevolver.com/music/on-the...interview-.html And how’s he feeling about the new single,Forgiveness? “This is the most personal record on the album for me, on one of my earlier projects I had a song with a similar vibe and it was everyone's favourite song so I promised myself, if I ever got the chance I would make Forgiveness a single. It's not about chart positions...just the music.” So I guess he's not expecting it to do well. I think it's a brilliant song though. I think Hush Little Baby would been a much better choice for single in terms of its success, and it would probably be top 40 already, but I guess he doesn't care. It's nice that he's releasing that for his fans that followed him from early on.
