I sometimes wonder if Will's sales would have been different if he'd released Evergreen at Christmas instead of February, I think Cowell has done the winners release differently this year to avoid the yearly rising backlash.

 

Aw Evergreen. I was just saying elsewhere that despite more voters, more viewers, and cheap downloads, XF has never come close to matching Evergreen's phenomenal sales, the closest they got was with Shayne. I guess because it was so special, really captured the public's imagination. I would say XF coverage is far more saturated than Pop Idol ever was too but there was still plenty of hype too with the battle buses, and I remember one tabloid paper, probably The Sun, printing little supporters kits with flags for either Team Will or Team Gareth. I don't think XF has ever matched that magic really, despite the fact it's a million times more glitzier :lol:

 

I'm not sure if you're giving Simon too much credit there Suggy, I'm not sure it was massively intentional to release the single earlier this year, and had more to do with when Wembley Arena was available. I'm sure Simon would have preferred the final on the 17th but there is a concert booked that night, White Lies.

A quick google shows White Lies announced their Wembley arena show on 8th June. Rumours about X Factor being held at Wembley on the 10th/11th started in the Sun 28th June and weren't officially confirmed by ITV until August. It's possible they wanted the 17th/18th but it had already been booked.

 

I think Little Mix' lower sales corroborate with overall less XF impact this year, less viewers, lowest sales for the Charity single, less chart impact by guests etc (Just Professor Green made the number 1 slot after appearing after a slew of acts in previous years)

I dunno maybe we could download Rage Against the machine? It won't take as many people as last time :lol:

History has shown that the sales of the XF winners single don't guarantee success OR failure. It's a crap version of the song and it's not the kind of thing Little Mix will be releasing. They have their style clearly defined and the public will lap it up when they bring out their own material. They were onto something last year with songs tailored to the acts, but XF has went backwards in most areas this year, this is another example.

 

And Jai McDowall, unlucky mate, you're a flop.

I reckon Little Mix could have done better if they covered the En Vogue track rather than Cannonball, Simon wants to turn them into the new Spice Girls.

So Jai didn't make Top 40 then? I don't understand why people are so sure Little Mix are going to be so massive. When I was watching the final I just thought "is this all it takes now to win XF"? Far more talented people have fallen at the hands of Syco. I guess they could do a 1D make people think they are huge before they have even released any material by giving them a tour, their own online shop, Adverts etc but even then they are just mediorce to me. Sorry -_-

I think it's EP Sales + Hurt individual downloads = one entry, as 'Hurt'. Any separate downloads of Iris and Colorblind = don't count, chart separately.

They all look about right once all versions of other songs on iTunes are combined.

Not at all surprised at the fairly disappointing sales for Little Mix, I was expecting a sharp decline from Matt's sales. The success of Cannonball is irrelevant, let's just wait until LM start their album campaign.

 

30k+ first mid figure for Paradise :cheer: As I said in the iTunes thread hoping for at least 85k this week.

 

Fantastic to see The Pogues lodging another climb :cheer: I don't expect them to hold onto that climb all week but if it could stay top 15 that'd still be great.

 

Mama Do The Hump in the top 40 :wub: Hopefully it'll climb to the top 30 by Sunday and be a fourth top 10 hit for them in the long run. It's far better than DWTT and WIWAY. I could actually see it outpeaking both of them (although it won't outsell DWTT). It'd be funny if it peaked at #8 though (and if it somehow managed to get their album to re-peak at #8 as well :lol:)

 

I thought Bublé might have actually had a slightly higher first midweek figure after his XF performance but 78k should still mean he's set for well over 200k, maybe reaching 250k. And he should definitely get the highest weekly sales of the year next week.

 

Amy probably heading for nearly another 150k too, not too bad. Would be nice if it manages 3 weeks over 140k or so.

 

Mylo Xyloto (or Xylo Myloto as the r*t**** at MW keep calling it) back in the top 3 :cheer: They'll likely lose some steam over the week but hopefully they'll do 120k this week and at least 100k again next week.

 

Dull top 40 in the albums in general, good to see '19' making a strong top 40 return, should hopefully do 20k+ this week (so selling at a similar level to how it was for a lot of the time it was in the top 5 :lol:)

 

Which album is the top 40 casualty if it's not Kate? Nickelback or Matt Cardle I assume?
