Sorry I should have phrased that better, on the update it says "Top 10", so how are we to know that Nirvana is at #6. If the B-side wasn't there whats to say Nirvana aren't at #6/7/8/9 and not #5?

Nirvana are at 3+3, just believe the sources here. :P Technically they're at #5 with two versions of MW combined.

T Boy, Lana Del Rey did but for example Noah and the Whale with LIFEGOESON didn't!

They don't. I told them that Nirvana is between #6-10 and they said "I would rather believe the official midweeks tomorrow".

What's posted here is the official midweeks, had the same problem last year with the Bird is the word track, some of those members are deluded, they really thought they could get Bird is the word to #1 and it didn't happen.

I know, I just felt like pointing out mistakes pedantically! I agree with that poster's views as it goes. A single that manages a week top 10 but that same week being it's only one in the top 40 didn't really deserve the placing in the long run.

Leona's sales last week were largely down to her core fanbase and through x factor performance. Its not getting any radio airplay so its not surprising that its dropped like a stone.

*shudders and remembers the Bird Brains signing up to Buzzjack and invading this thread*

The Nirvana lot will be adopting the same tack as the Bird Brains from last year too - thinking that because they're high up on Amazon they're in with a chance.

Actually thinnking about this logically how can the MW b-side be No 3 when it isn't showing up in the i-tunes top 100 so presumably it must have sold around 30k on other sites. They can't be physical sales as they will doubtless be credited to the A Side so can other sites alone really generate a No 3 hit?

Its probably sales from one store (probably a store selling a physical, not an online store selling downloads) incorrectly classified. Happens all the time and will be corrected tomorrow/Thursday.

Leona is deffo going down the dumpster. That's the best news :cheer: :w00t:

Just because it made the top 10 means nothing, to me a hit is a hit if it spends a while in the charts.

Haha! Oh god the Bird is The Word campaign last year was hilarious for their stubbornness in 'believing' chart data. They truly thought because they had so many people liking the page and people spouting crap about 'friends at radio stations saying it had sold 100k+' they simply wouldn't believe what the likes of Martin, me and Spiidey were telling them even though they came on here  Even on the Wednesday and it was confirmed they were at 3 by Radio 1, they still thought it was close and refused to believe the updates posted each day up until Thursday I think. By Friday I think the penny had finally started to drop and they were all turning on themselves for the failure of the single compared to number of likes (about 600k?) and urging each other to buy Rihanna in a desperate final attempt to 'beat Cowell.'

Generally though apart from us lot, it really does seem that people refuse to believe midweeks existed until the radio 1 chart update started and even then that's the only thing that counts. Obviously on Tuesday mornings we're all producing figures out of our arses, especially on Digital Spy who are VERY reluctant to believe sales on a Tuesday because it's not 'midweek'. So I guess I'm not surprised the campaign groups who avidly follow the charts for one week only, flatly refuse to believe.

Think the Nirvana campaign is being conducted by the same guy who got RAGE to no1 in 2009 - he knows how the charts work more than the Bird is the Word campaigners last year - think he was on this site on xmas week in 2009 as well(he knew we have the best info) :D

Ah that makes sense, I must have completely missed the 3+3

When I told them someone commented saying "Ah, another Buzzjacker..." as if to say "don't believe anything he tells you".

To Clarify AGAIN, the song currently at No 3 WILL probably be excluded on tomorrow's mids as it's a B-side so everything below it WILL probably move up one! (This has been explained several times before in the thread).

Hmm, well, that's clarified that then I guess. These days, I only follow the chart during December and maybe the begining of January as personally, I find a lot of chart music these days to be either very dull or unlistenable, so I'm not up on the ins and outs of B Side song qualifications etc.

I reckon those sales are from Amazon only, just a guess though, the track could be downloaded as a separate entity.

I still don't understand why OCC dosen't delete them, we have had quite a few b-sides charting on a Tuesday and disappearing the next day, JLS b-sides, Cher Lloyd, One Direction. I just tend to ignore them now on a Tuesday and move the tracks up, as I know at the end of the week the b-sides won't be included.

242k is incredible - already beating Little Mix's sales for the whole week  :o hopefully this will go over 500k by the end of the week, particularly as there's bound to be a late Christmas surge, I can't see it troubling the YTD top 10 though, I think its sales will take a bit of a drop off next week

Okay, there's no way the B-Side is MW's physical sales. They can't possibly have sold 242k on downloads and less than 38k physicals. I think they're duplicate sales rather than 'missing' sales.

I guess it's now a foregone conclusion then that Wherever You Are will knock 'On The Floor' or 'The A Team' out of the YTD top 10 then... :( So annoying that this happens at the last minute when we were otherwise heading for a top 10 that was finally actually representative of the public's favourite songs of the year and free of massive selling but super-frontloaded songs that have plagued it for years. Maybe next year <_< Now having accepted this fate I hope it gets all the way to #2 on the Y/E chart so it knocks down Maroon 5

Great to see Nirvana so high, I hope they can at least stay top 10 all week. I think 8 of the top 10 are likely to be the Wives, Little Mix, Alex, Coldplay, Flo Rida, Olly, Lloyd and Lou Monte but there are quite a few contenders for the other two spots - Rizzle Kicks, Nirvana, Rihanna, Avicii, Ed Sheeran, possibly Drake, maybe even The Pogues if they start increasing loads in the days running up to Christmas. If sales are close Alex Day might drop out of the top 10 by the end of the week to leave a third vacancy (he's close to dropping out of the iTunes top 10) but I think Lou Monte will hold up well as Chris Moyles is on the radio every morning this week except Saturday.

Glad to see Stacey top 15 and TOWIE top 20, I hope both can at least remain in the top 20, two good covers and it's good to see so many new Christmas songs doing decently in comparison to other recent years. So many songs in the top 40 this week that won't even be top 100 next week though

Non-moving albums top 5. Cool beans. Brilliant to see Mylo Xyloto still in the top 3, maybe it could even increase sales week-on-week? They don't start off with a massive promo boost this week though so maybe not. Another 150k+ is possible though as I think Olly will be close to that and Coldplay are ahead of him. Hopefully '21' will get a decent week-on-week increase too despite falling a place this week (what's overtaken it? Westlife I assume?)

Bruno starting yet another run in the top 10  His eighth this year. Amazing longevity for it, I wonder if it will continue this into 2012?

here we all know buzzjack data are true, there's not even point in opening debates on that.

so,after this update,it's right to say xfactor is defeated,i think Rage still holds the merits of starting it all,it's not important that another kind of song is n.1 instead of a particular Rage style campaign

I'm really glad military wives will be xmas no1 and by such a margin. It also proves x factor is certainly in decline now.

Not particularly. I mean, the sales of Little Mix prove beyond doubt that sales-wise the X Factor is getting diminishing returns from its current winners' single strategy, but these sales would've trumped the X Factor in almost every year. The success of Military Wives has very little to do with the X Factor being on a downward trend.
