<_< Well that just opened the floodgates. I really don't like that this is about to become a chart norm, the recurrent rule was one thing I preferred about the BBH100 over the UK charts.

I actually like this rule allowing older songs to re-chart on the Hot 100, it's all about the music charts representing the true popularity of the songs at the moment. But I'm glad they are keeping the rule of removing songs below Top 50 over 20 wks to keep things a bit fresh.

Too bad Michael Jackson missed out on this change back in 2009, but it's still better late than never.

The Hot 100 is going to be CRAZY when published next week!

With all of those Whitney entries in the Top 50 & how high will IWALY go?! Top 3 is a given.

What about Katy Perry's new single, is it poised to debut at #1?

Plus, Adele looks to have 3 songs in the Top 10!

As for this week on the Hot 100, it's great to see Madonna collecting her record-breaking 38th Top 10 hit! :o

This is BRILLIANT. My first thought - Mariah Carey will be getting a hit every year FOR ETERNITY now with All I Want For Christmas Is You <3
I wonder what made it pick up so fast after starting to drop quite fast. Anyway delighted to see One Direction already top 10 in America. Lets just hope The Saturdays somehow manage to do well in America.

Oh yeah, how could we forget that The Saturdays are in fact a boyband that will be part of this British battle of the boybands state-side...?

I'm pleased that the old songs rule has been lifted on the Hot 100. Obviously it doesn't directly affect me, but it's nice that Whitney can have her moment in the top 10, and even challenge for the top spot :D

Oh yeah, I can totally see where Lee called The Saturdays a boyband?

Well, thank God they've changed that ridiculous rule (although I smell a bit of bias that they've done it after Whitney but not after Michael whose death had a MUCH bigger effect <_<)

Next to go is the regular recurrent rule deleting songs from the 51-100 section if they've been around 20+ weeks please.

Probably a battle between Katy and Whitney for Hot 100 supremacy then next week (and that's the last chance of 3 Adeles in the top 5 gone then :( Ah well, 3 in the top 10 is still a big thing and she should manage that).

1D now top 10? <_<

I was just away to say that  Thanks Rob!

Great achievement for One Direction!

Upon seeing the recurrent rule going away my reaction went like this:

"Oh no now Ellie's gonna drop out of the Hot 100 altogether!!"

followed by

"Ooh wait now Whitney might get the #1!"

and then

"Oh but Katy's got it sown up"

and finally

"Ooh yay for Mariah!"

so it's a mixed bag! But I guess it's good anyway. I'll get over the temporary Ellie drop.

I hope The Wanted get Top 10 eventually, hopefully with Glee covering them next Tuesday that should help!

 7. Turn Up the Music - Chris Brown

 8. Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) - Kelly Clarkson

 9. Someone Like You - ADELE

:(

I think The Wanted will go top 10 eventually, and their 2nd single will hopefully benefit from a "1D vs Wanted battle of the boybands" that the US media starts. Unrelated, but the only act I feel sorry for is Gotye. Good sales on iTunes but not crossing over into mainstream radio. By the time mainstream radio catches on, it'll be too late.
Also, as for 3 Adele songs in the top 10, will SLY make the top 10?

I'm sure it will unless it drops a LOT over the next few days on iTunes (it's quite comfortably lodged in the top 10, as long as it stays top 10 it should have no problem getting there on the H100 considering it still has some 50 million AI).

It was #11 on the Hot 100 last week, would have been top 10 again if Billboard hadn't changed their mind about Whitney at the last second.

Oh! I just saw Love You Like A Lovesong is selling for $0.69! So that's why it randomly rose so much. Is this the start of the UK-esque price wars in the US? Well, not the start but is this when it begins to catch on?

Just because two British boybands have "broken through", it doesn't mean interest has been reignited in girlbands. That genre is dead in America, and no matter how many British artists who make it over there, unless there's a big girlband that go before them, The Saturdays won't have success.

I agree. I really don't think Little Mix will break the US, no matter how successful they end up in the UK. And it's really only them, StooShe and The Saturdays around right now, and I really doubt StooShe will even break the UK, and given how The Saturdays have flopped this era...

There literally are no girlbands around is all, I do think 2NE1 will be big this year though so maybe new girlbands will emerge. But from what we have and know right now, I don't see any girlbandsbreaking in bar 2NE1 and maybe (a HUGE maybe) the new line-up of Pussycat Dolls.
