It's funny that both of Coldplay's #1s were both ineligible to chart for ages because of the pre-order things. Perhaps they've accidentally discovered a good promotion strategy (although it's probably just coincidence tbh, I can't think of any logical explanation why doing that would improve your chart performance).

Great to see Paradise finally giving Coldplay a second #1, couldn't be a better song at the start of 2012, really! :D
I believe you meant 'Please Don't Let Me Go'.

They both seemed to debut at their peaks and fall from their - although 'Thinking of Me' did re-enter the top 10 for a week or two in January 2011. Great to see him doing so well on album #2 though, but I'm still furious that 'Busy', his best single yet, only managed a #45 peak.

Oh, this is just too good to be true

Dont laugh...i didnt respond because i didnt want to be rude and laugh!!!

oh it was obvious but still :w00t:  :cheer: at Coldplay number 1, pretty much a perfect start to 2012! I just never would've thought that they would ever get another number 1! :o

I would never have thought back in September that Paradise would ever be a #1 - but it is! :D

I never thought this would even be top 10 tbh when it peaked at 11 then dropped. This is beyond amazing as now my 2 fave Coldplay songs are #1s :D

Great news for Coldplay but it's a strange one. Then again, it's post Christmas. I just think of all the other singles which never made top 3! Shiver, Everything's Not Lost, Politik, The Scientist, Fix You.
Looking forward to seeing the sales for this. Must be over 100k surely?

So, we have a top 40 which doesn't include last week's #3 or#4. Astonishing. (Also missing last week's #11, #13 and #17, unsurprisingly.)

Have we ever had TWO top ten singles disappear from the top 40 at the same time before?

Two top 15 songs for Olly, nice one. HSAB went over 500k this week, DWMT must be well over 300k, with the album going double platinum this week (I assume) it's been a great end of 2011 for him.

Coldplay must now love X Factor. What an effect, it not only saved them from disappointing album sales but brought them a number 1 which is not the usual for them at all.

Strange that the moment i heard this in september i loved it and went straight to no1 on my personal chart then, never thought it would be a uk no1 though due to the release strategy!

Lets hope this isnt the peak in terms of the no1s in 2012!!

Only thing I'm disappointed with is that it's too good to be #1 :(

EDIT: 1,200th post! :D

Busy is a good song but he hardly did any promotion for it and it was on the back of a rubbish ballad. If he released it as his 3rd single off his new album it'd be easy top 5, maybe number 1 in a slow sales week. Even if it was the 3rd single off Olly Murs then it coulda been top 10, Heart on my sleeve had alot more promotion. Nevermind, it's a fan favourite.

Blimey! Alex Day has disappeared from the top 100 (from #4 last week). That's quite an achievement, albeit unwanted.

On the other hand, it was close with Lou Monte, who has 'only' fallen to #41 (from #3).
