Posted January 3, 201213 yr From Digital Spy: Biffy Clyro have revealed plans to release a double album this summer. The band explained that they have made 30 demos and intend to record the new collection of material in April after choosing the best tracks. Talking to Q magazine, frontman Simon Neil said: "We're going to make a double album, so the intention is to do most of the recording in LA and then do more of it elsewhere. "We'll hopefully get it done by April, May and go out and play some shows. The album might come out before summer but it's likely to be just after that." Responding to the claim that a double album is "very Guns N' Roses", Neil added: "Absolutely. The working titles are Use Your Illusion III and Use Your Illusion IV. "We're going over the top as we can. It's an album about a fork in the road and how your decisions can take you on one path or the other. "One path is the right decisions and one path is the wrong decisions - and each album's going to represent each path." Biffy Clyro were recently confirmed to play this year's Isle Of Wight Festival in June. Quite pleased that they're being this ambitious, given the poppiness of "Only Revolutions" I couldn't see this being their magnum opus were it only a single disc but with a double hopefully there'll be more variety.
January 3, 201213 yr meh, I think they are trying to hard for epic ness to the point they are a bit up themselves, I miss tunes like this: p0b1FgWrj3o
May 3, 201213 yr Author Albums to be titled "The Land at the End of Our Toes" and "The Sand at the Core of Our Bones". Ooh-er. I'm not sure if it'll be like "Use Your Illusion" and be two separately released albums or whether it'll be a proper double album and the two names are like the two discs of Smashing Pumpkins' "Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness". Hopefully the latter.
August 12, 201212 yr Author Surprised no one had thought to post about this, first single: DafkHhzbXB4 I'm really, really surprised at this. Wasn't expecting anything this left-field as a lead single.
September 6, 201212 yr 'Stingin' Belle' is such a grower! It's so, so good. I really should check out their older stuff as I have loved pretty much everything from the last era and now I'm properly starting to love this too.
September 17, 201212 yr as expected this album is due out next year, January 28th 2013 to be exact tracklisting is as follows: CD1: The Sand At The Core Of Our Bones 1. Stingin' Belle 2. Sounds Like Balloons 3. Biblical 4. The Joke's On Us 5. Black Chandelier 6. A Girl And His Cat 7. Opposite 8. The Fog 9. Little Hospitals 10. The Thaw CD2: The Land At The End Of Our Toes 1. Different People 2. Modern Magic Formula 3. Spanish Radio 4. Victory Over The Sun 5. Pocket 6. Trumpet Or Tap 7. Skylight 8. Accident Without Emergency 9. Woo Woo 10. Picture A Knife Fight Hopefully there will be a single soon as Stingin' Belle isn't really one according to the band despite the fact it's on ITunes and is on the R1 playlist
January 13, 201312 yr So 'Black Chandelier' is good isn't it? :P First time hearing it (late I know) and I really like it. Here's the video for those who haven't seen it or heard it yet. myc_RViTHhY Hope it can become another hit for them this week and I hope the album hurries.
January 13, 201312 yr A double album probably means no b-sides. What a shame. Thankfully not the case, 'Black Chandelier' has two B-Sides ('The Rain' and 'Thundermonster' as well as a Live at Rockness version of 'Many Of Horror' - not sure if there are different B-Sides on the physical version but that's the tracklist on iTunes). 'Black Chandelier' is brilliant, was slightly disappointed by 'Stingin' Belle' but this is a return to form. Excited for this album. Edited January 13, 201312 yr by Bré
January 13, 201312 yr http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8L9qByb317Y that's the full ITunes festival slot that Biffy did towards the end of last year and features some of the new material favourite song off Opposites for me so far is Modern Magic Formula, really reminds me of the older Biffy stuff. All the new stuff is pretty good though
January 23, 201312 yr album out on Monday, it was released in Japan yesterday on their ITunes store and that has led to the inevitable leaking from first impressions, I like most of it. There will take songs that will take time to grow but that's what happens with most Biffy albums for me. I can see Biblical and Modern Magic Formula being songs that radio will play to death, especially Radio 1 as they have huge choruses and the epic feel, especially Biblical I do feel that a double album might be a bit too much in a way but I always love the idea of having new Biffy material to listen to. There is a lot of things that Biffy have not really touched in songs as well, synths and mariachi are two types that feature on the album along with the big choruses and riffs that a Biffy album should contain
February 1, 201312 yr Finally got round to listening to some of this just now and it's really good! 'The Thaw' is probably my favourite so far, but I genuinely liked every track from disc 1! 'Different People' and the title track are also worth the mention. Gonna give disc 2 a listen once I've done whatever I've done for today. But yeah, if disc 2 lives up to the standard of disc 1, I'm going to be very, very pleased!
February 2, 201312 yr http://www.dingsme.info/avatar8.jpgI think they are trying to hard for epic ness to the point they are a bit up themselves.
February 2, 201312 yr Disc 2 >>>> disc 1. Every track on disc 2 was a highlight to some extent except for 'Pocket', 'Skylight' and 'Accident Without Emergency' whereas disc 1's only highlights were 'Black Chandelier' and 'Sounds Like Balloons', the rest of it kinds of blends into one. Having said that 'Biblical' definitely seems like it could be a single. Another strong album anyway although not quite as good as 'Only Revolutions' - maybe that's partially just because of its length though. Favourite album track overall is probably 'Trumpet Or Tap' Edited February 2, 201312 yr by Bré
February 3, 201312 yr would say it's above the level of the last two albums and it's verging at times on the 3 albums that were made before the major label involvement. Accident Without Emergency, Picture A Knife Fight, Trumpet and Tap, Magic Modern Formula, The Joke's On Us, A Girl And His Cat and Biblical are my favourites from it but I actually don't dislike any of the songs would say Pocket is probably the only one I'm a bit indifferent towards but that's not dislike or hate. As I said before though, Biblical has the potential to be a big single if they release it. Apparently the next single could be Victory Over The Sun
March 6, 201312 yr JrbMNBNMksk Biblical the next Biffy single from Opposites, apparently going to be out on Monday April 1st but that hasn't been confirmed yet video has an interesting concept and the song is one of my favourites from the album, has potential to be another chart hit for them
March 21, 201312 yr Hope it can become another hit for them this week and I hope the album hurries. :
March 28, 201312 yr Not their best, but loving this album all the same  Biblical and Black Chandelier were wonderful single choices, but Stingin' Belle...? It's a great song but one for the fans I think. Love the whole 'past vs future' theme they having going on with Sand/Land but shame about some of the song choices; b-sides like Thundermonster would've been a much better cut than some of what they decided to include. Skylight, perhaps?
October 19, 201311 yr Did anyone buy the double album on iTunes? I'm interested in the 51-minute 'making of the album' documentary, but it's album-only and I can't find the video on youtube or anything. Just wondered if the documentary is any good, but I may just buy it (the full album) on iTunes and find out for myself ^_^
