If the choice to discount is iTunes alone, then I assume they still have to pay the record company the full 99p per track though - otherwise they could have a case for suing for lost royalties...

Hopefully top 40 and top 100 by midday :D The second version is probably nearing its peak based on the general pattern when there are 2 versions of a song charting well but the top version will keep climbing for a while. Hopefully #1 is possible but I'll be happy if it gets anywhere in the top 5.

I agree that Lady Gaga can be around for a long time. Her fanbase is so big that she doesn't need to appeal to the general public to be in the charts. Lots of artists have one massive hit and then manage to be around for 10 years, basically living off how big they were that one time.

IIRC, I simply picked the phrase 'A selection of excellent titles hand-picked by the itunes team' straight from the 59p page of the iTunes site.

Im quite disappointed for Florence and the Machine with this album. Its just as good as the first but is underachieving quite badly. Its not flopping because its gone number one and sold 400,000 but still, It might just scrape 600,000 and that will be it :(
