The Big Pink have a previous album, TWO Radio 1 A-list singles from this album and it's not top 40 in even the first midweeks. A dreadful flop. But their debut wouldn't have needed to sell much to go top 40 either yet it only got #56. It's definitely a big flop but it's not an unexpected one in my opinion, they're clearly incapable of selling albums (or anything except Dominos really) :lol:

I know it definately was on 6music. Even so, it does seem strange that it hasn't charted. It's a pity, as I do like Superman (especially as it samples Laurie Anderson)

A Flash Flood Of Colour continues to head the UK artist albums market after accumulating 12,838 sales up to the end of trading on Tuesday, according to Official Charts Company figures. However, both Ed Sheeran’s Asylum/Atlantic album + and XL artist Adele’s 21 remain less than 5,000 sales behind and have every chance of overtaking by the weekend. Wherever A Flash Flood Of Colour ends up it will significantly improve on the chart placing of their previous studio album, 2009’s Common Dreads, their only one released via a major – Atlantic Records – and which reached number 16. This new album is independently issued through their label Ambush Reality, as was 2007’s Take To The Skies, which is currently their highest-charting album, having debuted and peaked at four. Sheeran’s album is at the moment trailing Enter Shikari by about 4,200 copies with 21 a further 300 copies behind. Having returned to number one last Sunday, Elektra/Atlantic’s Bruno Mars is now down in a fourth place with Doo-Wops & Hooligans, while the Columbia/Parkwood Entertainment-issued 4 by Beyonce remains in fifth position. Following a performance last Saturday on Jonathan Ross’s ITV1 chat show, Island act Florence + The Machine’s Ceremonials is set for a Top 10 return. Sales are up on the week by 49%, moving it on sales flashes 21-8. In another quiet week for new albums there is just one other brand new entry besides A Flash Flood Of Colour showing up in the Top 40. It belongs to Island-signed guitar band Tribes whose first album Baby is presently a new entry at 13. Jessie J had a close fight on her hands to top the UK singles chart last week with Domino and the going is far from easy again for the Island/Lava artist. Domino remains in front having sold 27,692 copies by the end of Tuesday, but only by about 3,600 sales as the Virgin-issued Antidote by Swedish House Mafia with Knifeparty crops up as a new entry at two. Another Virgin release, David Guetta featuring Sia’s Titanium, has progressed so far this week 8-3 with Island’s Rizzle Kicks dropping 3-4 with Mama Do The Hump and the Atlantic single Good Feeling by Flo Rida dropping 2-5. Sales of Mercury act Pixie Lott’s Kiss The Stars are up 206% on the week, sending it 14-7, while there is a doubling of sales for Kelly Clarkson’s RCA single Stronger to move it 21-11. Other big week-on-week sales gainers include the J/RCA-issued International Love by Pitbull featuring Chris Brown (up 62% to move 23-15), Island’s Gotye featuring Kimbra with Somebody That I Used To Know (up 53% and progressing 36-25) and the latest singles by Syco acts Cher Lloyd and One Direction. Maccabees only down to #15 so they'll probably just miss the top 20 on Sunday? Held up far better than "Bionic" or "Sinners Never Sleep", certainly.
January 18, 201214 yr Rambling commentary time (seems longer than usual as well) :D! I expected it to be much closer between Enter Shikari and Ed Sheeran (ES and ES :kink:) today actually - 4.2k is quite a bit considering the very small numbers we're dealing with, it amounts to a lead of nearly 50% for Shikari at the moment! Not totally insurmountable but at this rate I could see Shikari holding it. If it's close enough at the top of the albums chart I could see Coldplay being a challenger for #1 as well now Mylo Xyloto has been reduced on iTunes. God dammit at Foster The People's album being down to #11 again :( Good to see Rizzle Kicks' album back in the top 10 though I guess. Also great to see Ceremonials back up there but Jonathan Ross hasn't helped them as much as I'd hoped, No Light, No Light is nowhere near the top 40 either :( '19' climbing again :lol: :D Great to see No More Idols still in the top 40, should definitely clear a year in the top 75 (reaches 51 weeks this week and it's not exactly going to drop out of the top 75 from the top 40). Matt Cardle still hanging on in the top 40 as well, surprised at his longevity with seemingly nothing going for him. The new single might keep it in the top 40 for a while longer as well. The Black Keys' album could repeak in the coming weeks I reckon, holding up very well and 'Lonely Boy' seems to be doing quite well now too. 24k for Antidote so far isn't awful, I hope it can clear 50k at least. Could never forget the opening sales of One (Your Name) since they were exactly 50,000 :lol: Miami 2 Ibiza did 57,954 in its first week, Save The World did 29,457. Paradise at #10, could be in danger of dropping out of the top 10 if Kelly gets a big top 10 effect on iTunes :( Good to see Pumped Up Kicks a non-mover at #22, hopefully it can manage to climb by Sunday though. #25 for Gotye :D Would be nice if it makes the top 20 this week (although that'd knock Foster The People down a place ofc). Really shocked at how well Skepta is holding up, even looking at a new peak based on today's update. And with JME possibly in the top 40 this week as well the chart is looking a lot more 'grimey' than usual :lol: Why is Professor Green climbing with Read All About It while Never Be A Right Time is still not top 40, argh :angry: Yes at Skrillex being top 40 today :cheer: Hopefully it'll go a bit higher than 38 by Sunday as well. I see Someone Like You is out of the top 40 - it's still in the iTunes top 40 (although it's fallen a bit from when it was as high as #31 on Sunday) so I hope it can sneak back in to claim a 40th week.
