January 20, 201214 yr And the album is up from Sundays position too. I honestly expected 'Sticks + Stones' to be well out of the top 40 and re-entering the top 75 (possibly) this week/as we got closer to WUB's release. Really pleased for her to be getting success from this campaign, after such a love/hate debut, I wasn't sure it'd be a hit. If only Kelly's album would make the top 40 again! :(
January 20, 201214 yr wonder if Pixie will end up at 10 by Sunday - same as the last single... Kelly Clarkson should go top 10 by sunday officially so all it will need it 1 more song to overtake it
January 20, 201214 yr Hmm, Enter Shikari 2,500 ahead? It's going to be stupidly close I think. Is there ANYTHING notable out next week?
January 20, 201214 yr Pixie Lott down to #8 - what's overtaken it? Lloyd was at #6, so it must be Avicii; despite falling out of the top 10 on iTunes. If this is the case, and Coldplay has climbed on iTunes, then the only track Clarkson can knock out is Taio Cruz - so I'm not sure if she'll make the top 10 officially this week. Irritating to see 'Titanium' down to #4 - hopefully 'Mama Do The Hump' is brought back to 99p next week and gives Guetta & Sia a chance to score a top 3 record - 'Antidote' will no doubt fall a place or two, just depends on whether Kelly Clarkson picks up or Lana del Rey's 'Born to Die' is the hit everyone reckons it'll be.

Is there ANYTHING notable out next week? 23rd January Chairlift – Something Chris Isaak – Beyond The Sun Craig Finn - Clear Heart Full Eyes Kathleen Edwards - Voyageur Lacuna Coil - Dark Adrenaline Lamb Of God – Resolution Mull Historical Society - City Awakenings Pulled Apart By Horses – Tough Love Rodrigo Y Gabriela – Area 52 Underworld – 1992-2012 Anthology (3CD) Underworld – Collection Wiley - Evolve Or Be Extinct X-Press 2 – The House Of X-Press 2 Zoe Rahman – Kindred Spirits Out of this lot nothing unless Chairlift can top it on paltry sales. This is usually the quiet period for the albums, things will pick up when the Brits are announced, old albums tend to take a u-turn.

Which is probably why Avicii has overtaken Pixie officially. Kelly just can't afford to lose too much from "the weekend effect" and stay ahead of Taio for the rest of the week and she "should" bag herself another top 10 hit, this week. But I'm actually expecting it to go top 10 officially next week. I have a feeling she'll hold up better against Lana & Cover Drive next week, than Taio, Lloyd, Coldplay, Pixie AND Avicii.
January 20, 201214 yr Author I think we are heading for a new #1 next week, Jessie J is probably on course on sales of 43k to 46k for the week, if she did another 9k for the past 2 days on top of 27k earlier in the week. Lana & Cover Drive will have physicals as well as downloads they should easily do over 50k surely. I think the new singles will fare better, I can't see Rizzle Kicks at #1 next week.
January 20, 201214 yr I thought JME would be higher than #39 or #40. So he'll probably miss the top 40 in the end :(

I know it's wishful thinking on my behalf but I really hope Lana Del Rey gets the #1 next week. Big first week sales that don't dramatically decrease and allow 'Born To Die' to spend a few weeks at the top. Or at least until Gotye gets there. :P
January 20, 201214 yr Swedish House Mafia still at #2 today :D Really hope they hold out until Sunday. However; "If this remains in second place by the time the final chart is published on Sunday it will become the Swedes’ highest-charting single yet, beating the number three peak of One." There is nothing right about this statement. Great to see Skrillex/The Doors now as high as #34 :D Shame there's still no sign of 'Never Be A Right Time' though - it's been pretty close to M83 all week so I'm surprised they've entered but not him, I guess he could sneak in for Sunday though. Is JME at 30+9 or 30+10? I hope he can stick it out in the top 40. Great to see Rizzle Kicks overtaking Guetta, Avicii overtaking Pixie and Coldplay overtaking Taio :cheer: Hopefully the latter means Coldplay should be safe for a seventh week top 10 even if Kelly does make the top 10 :D 2.5k is still a pretty decent lead for Enter Shikari, I really wouldn't be surprised if they hold on to the #1. Coldplay back in the top 5 :D Hope they can finish the week higher than 5, they've been #1 on the iTunes album feed for a few days now thanks to its price reduction (and it'd make a nice change from them always seeming to fall from their first midweek position :P) Edited January 20, 201214 yr by Bré

January 20, 201214 yr Great to see SHM at #2 :D as well as Skrillex, M83 and JME all top 40. It would be a shame if JME misses it, I'd love to hear it on the chart show  and it's his only chance as it's be mega frontloaded. M83 can keep climbing hopefully :) I can't say I'm a fan of Enter Shikari but it'd be nice to have something new at the albums #1 and not another old album climbing back by default
January 20, 201214 yr My god, album sales will be even worse next week  It'll obviously be Adele or something again by default with barely 20k!
January 20, 201214 yr Pulled Apart By Horses could be next weeks midweek no1 like other indie albums like Maccabees and ES in these low sales weeks!!
January 20, 201214 yr Pulled Apart By Horses could be next weeks midweek no1 like other indie albums like Maccabees and ES in these low sales weeks!! I think Lamb Of God have a very small chance of being a midweek #1 - their last album got to #25 and they've been following the pattern of each album peaking significantly higher than the last (they've so far gone xxx-xxx-126-89-25). So if their fanbase has grown a lot again, who knows? (I doubt it, but it may go top 10 in this low sales environment, Lacuna Coil should easily get at least a first top 40 album also, having so far gone xxx-xxx-xxx-47-42).
January 20, 201214 yr Author From MW mag entries in the top 75, starting with the singles Florence + The Machine No Light No Light and Shake It Out, Nadia Rapture, JLS feat. Dev She Makes Me Wanna, JLS Wanted in that order. As for the albums REM Part Lies..., Pixie Lott Young Foolish Happy, John Williams Warhorse, Kate Bush 50 Words For Snow, The Big Pink Future This and Frank Turner The Second Three Years, in that order.
January 20, 201214 yr thankfully on the 30th, Lana Del Rey should raise sales a little bit with her album then we have Maverick Sabre, Emeli Sande following, I dread to see the sales this week and next week though, could we actually go below 20k? :o

If Mastodon could only make #19 with a really well-acclaimed album in an equally poor sales climate Lamb of God will do very well to go top 10. Of course with sales like they are, they could be midweek #1 by something stupid like 50 sales and fall to #8 or something by Sunday.
January 20, 201214 yr The #1 album set for 20k and the #1 single set for 45k, seriously? Why are the industry holidng everything back, January is usually far more interesting than this isn't it, at least after the dead week right at the start? We've had maybe two notable singles and albums each released so far this year and we're two thirds of the way through January :/
January 20, 201214 yr This time in 2010, we at least still had Joe McElderry and Lady Gaga battling it up at the top end of the charts and then Iyaz's 'Replay' came along on January 10 followed by Owl City's 'Fireflies. Then in 2011 we had Bruno Mars' held back 'Grenade' and Ke$ha's 'We R Who We R' (although the latter was a quick peaker-and fell). I think the main difference this year is that big/emerging acts aren't releasing their songs early enough - perhaps holding back in the UK in particular to follow the trend and debut straight at #1. I'm sure will.i.am's 'T.H.E.' could've peaked at #1 in any of these three weeks, but now that's it's been held back until mid February, it'll suffer from these fake versions and illegal downloading. Would it kill for Ke$ha to quick release a track, just to make things interesting. We should however be greatful of Jessie J scoring another #1 - although by being Katy Perry sounding, it sorta' solves the whole 'lack of US releases' issue.
