I agree. I see no reason why the song couldn't become a massive hit in the long run, but with on air, on sale songs, the first couple of week's sales are generally based on mainly the artist's fanbase and media hype. There isn't that much really, so I don't quite understand why people are expecting it to debut at #3 on two days of sales?

4 Minutes was a bigger hit than Born This Way in the long run, but it was nowhere near #1 in its first couple of weeks. I know Madonna was massive like 25 years ago, but to think, at the moment that she has the immediate selling power of Lady Gaga is a little bit ridiculous imo.

More like 10-15 years, don't write crap :)

It depend on the artist though weather an OA/OS song peaks high in its first week!

Gotye  to #3. :o

FUCKYEAH :w00t:

Titanium/STIUTK top 2 pl0x.

Why did Twilight have to fall so fast? If it was still at #4 and swapped with Domino, we'd have a perfect top 5. As it is, a perfect top 3, though. I really hope Alone Again doesn't follow Twilight's descent.
Itll never happen due to the release list but itd be great if Gotye got to no1, told all my friends at xmas it would be no1 and theyd all be singing it in a month lol!!
Where have the multiple versions of 'Born to Die' gone?

Still there, Born To Die is currently:

14. Born to Die - Lana Del Rey

47. Born to Die - Lana Del Rey

64. Born to Die - Lana Del Rey

Praying it can get top 10 this week after it missing out last week.

I hope so too. It is far better than 'Video Games' imo.

Born to Diw should make the top 10 if it keeps up with those 3 versions.

Anyone else here Adeles making her live comeback at the grammys and then the brits!!21 will sell massively again when she does!!

I hope so too. It is far better than 'Video Games' imo.

Blue Jeans>>>Born To Die>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Video Games

And Video Games is still a good 8/10. Shame that the album doesn't really live up to the quality of these tracks, apart from 'Dark Paradise' and 'Summertime Sadness' (would include 'National Anthem' but the demo version is miles better than the album version).

More like 10-15 years, don't write crap :)

I wouldn't say it was crap at all. By 1987/88 Madonna had already had 6 US #1s and 5 UK #1s. I would say she was most definitely massive 25 years ago.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much but it'd be annoying if one weekers denied it despite the fact it will probably end up outselling them all. Still, I never expected Titanium to be in the running this week so you never know what may happen in a couple of weeks.

Next week I'd imagine Will.I.Am will get the top spot, with DJ Fresh the following week. It wouldn't surprise me if they are very front loaded (though they will hold better than Cove Driver have), I wonder if something could sneak a week in w/c 19th February? I'd say SIUTK, Wild Ones and may be even Madonna will be peaking around then? Who knows (Gym Class Heroes is out that week but I can't see a #1 for that ATM but probably top 3/5)

I'm sure he was just writing a number without thinking behind it. Her most successful era was the Ray Of Light era (1998). I would say she was massive at the end of the 90s. In the 80s too, but not as massive.

I thought Madge has always been quite slim tbf. :P She's definitely not as big now as she once was (anything pre-2007) anyway, no matter what period we're talking! Maybe Hard Candy/Celebration was a bit of a blip? We'll see...

I must admit after Hung up, Sorry era, her career did hit a blip, considering 4 Mins was a love or hate relationship with me at one point.

"4 Minutes" did excellently although it was a bit of an anomaly in terms of "Hard Candy" - the album didn't do that well any way you look at it, neither single nor album were big with her core fanbase. The single was a really good pop song and managed to succeed by attracting a load of people who weren't big Madonna fans in the download era, people who weren't interested in the albums. It's difficult to guess how "MDNA" will do, my initial reaction is that "Give Me All Your Luvin" will need to be excellent. "Celebration" proved that she needs a really strong lead single these days.
