There must be some mistake with Alyssa Reid, the Remixes EP has been top 100 (even top 40 at times) on pre-orders for weeks yet it's now disappeared from the iTunes album chart altogether, and there's no sign of the single in the top 1000 yet :o

Strange  I hope this doesn't kill its chances of top 3 (I want Titanium to climb to #1 as its amazing )

Another thing on the EP is that tracks 2 and 8 are the EXACT same, yet the "alternate mix" (the version where Jump Smokers only has 1 verse of rap) is nowhere to be found

So I noticed, hence why I opted for the single track download instead of the Remix EP, the 'alternate mix' is the only one I'd have ever listened to. I see it's listed as 'dance' as well just because it's out on AATW, it's nothing close to being a dance song

My iTunes feed hasn't updated since yesterday. Pixie Lott has climbed into the top 10 again, but my feed still shows her at #11.

Same here.

Regarding Alyssa's EP disappearing from the albums chart, I think that always happens for a short period of time between the EP's release and it appearing on the chart. It's just taking its time to show up because iTunes is frozen as per.

I struggle with the idea for some artists - can someone as innocuous as Taio Cruz or Pixie Lott really have one? How is 'Dynamite' "culturally significant"? I think you have to have a certain level of respect and longevity in the industry to have a song like that. There's a difference between someone's most famous song and it also being their 'signature song'. I think it also has to do with the song having a cultural life apart from its musical existence - take '99 Problems', whose main lyrics have become something of an 'internet meme'; or 'Single Ladies', with the dance craze. 'All About Tonight' or 'Dynamite' or whatever are just songs.

I (again, I have to be contrary, it's in my contract) disagree that sales mean a song has a legacy. For every big seller that stays in cultural memory, there's another that's quickly forgotten.

Precisely!

That's why I've cited 'Thriller' as Michael Jackson's signature hit ahead of 'Billie Jean'. Even if the music video contributed majorly to the song's legacy, it still made it a classic.

And I definitely agree about big sales not necessarily equating to signature songs or classics. 'Thriller' is again an example of this. Same with 'Single Ladies' by Beyonce. It is definitely her signature hit now but I don't think it has sold more than the likes of 'Crazy In Love', 'If I Were A Boy' or 'Irreplaceable' in various countries.

Hoping Heart's original track of Alone to enter the 40 as well :D love to see its total sales

iTunes still frozen - fun.

Kworb does still appear to be updating though and Alyssa isn't yet top 100 there. I'm not sure I'd trust Kworb at the moment though as it seems to be the only thing updating...

What about Eminem? I would say its out of Stan, Lose yourself or LTWYL. Stan probably takes it though.

I refer Lose Yourself as his best/signature song really as it was really when he was at his peak imo (with Like Toy Soldiers and Just Lose It released around the time and going to #1) and it was the soundtrack to 8 mile, got him an Oscar (soundtrack) etc

I agree Stan is in a way as that really defined him as a big artist etc

On Alyssa's EP what is the difference between the UK radio edit and the original mix? Shame the single rap verse version isn't available as that has been the one I've been listening to :(

I'm sure it's the person who is featured?

This is the version which was released in Canada:

Where as this version is released in the UK:

I personally prefer the version that was released Canada as there's more Alyssa.

There's also a 'part 2' of sorts with just Alyssa singing on the version of her album I downloaded, I like the Canadian version best though, maybe just because I'm used to it

And a French version. At least on my album! I think it goes P. Reign>>Jump Smokers-lite (with only one JS verse)>>pt.2>>Encore Seule>>>Jump Smokers (UK Version). So many versions!!

I love the song. I really hope it's a hit for her. But they should have released "The Game" as the lead single. It's so much better.

I have the French version too

Imo:

P. Reign >> Pt. 2 >>>>> JS-lite > Encore Seule >>>>>>>>>>>> Jump Smokers UK version

On the 90 second iTunes samples, both the UK Radio Edit and original mix both feature Jump Smokers and have 2 rap verses. I assume there must be something different at the end?

I've worked it out - the difference is that the Original Mix still has 2 rap verses on it, but it has an extra chorus on the end :) I've gone for that version :)

Hope she still gets #1 after iTunes sorts itself out :)
