January 31, 201213 yr Surely I can't be the only one who HATES Plumbo? :puke2: I'm not a fan of the band themselves but for me the song is excellent, I'm a huge fan of Scandinavian ethnic/folk-pop and Ola Nordmann has a great, very instant melody. The flute melody progression and general chord changes in the final 20 seconds of the song are fantastic. Replace their vocals and it could easily be a Sarek/Timoteij song (). Jaunty folk is a genre that I will always have far more time than I probably should have, I absolutely love it! By old men, teenage girls or Irish family bands :P
January 31, 201213 yr 'Ola Nordmann' is far from being the next 'Fairytale' (you can see obvious similarities here, maybe that's partly why Norway are loving it), but it's good nonetheless.

They're loving it because Plumbo are the most notorious/famous act in the country right now, they could have sung anything and gone straight to the final. Their current single is #1 officially in Norway: http://www.norwegiancharts.com/weekchart.asp?cat=s But yeah, if Norway want to do well again this year then this won't be the song to do it. Plumbo are walking it so far though so will need some real momentum to get past them and give Norway a fighting chance.

January 31, 201213 yr That's an insanely brilliant top ten. Tone, Sia, Laleh, The A Team, Sia, Ola Nordmann  The #1 is the only song I don't know but I'm youtubing it as we speak! You love Sia so much, you listed her twice.
January 31, 201213 yr The #1 is the only song I don't know but I'm youtubing it as we speak! On a seperate note, what was the verdict on Norway's iTunes #1? Is it good? I've also not heard the song yet.
January 31, 201213 yr Voted a couple really stood out, sadly Carly was not for me :( Ah, never mind! She won't be able to appeal to everyone! :)
January 31, 201213 yr On a seperate note, what was the verdict on Norway's iTunes #1? Is it good? I've also not heard the song yet. Well I'm not understanding why it's got such a huge lead, put it that way. It seems to share some melody with the intro of Heaven (Bryan Adams/DJ Sammy) but other than that there was not much to pique my interest on the first listen.

January 31, 201213 yr I think that's what puts me off the most. Racist c**ts. I fully agree and I certainly don't approve of what they said to Madcon, however I find it hard to stop liking a song/artist's music even if I despise the artist themselves. I even bought Chris Brown's latest album last year :drama: Although I promptly traded it in, not because I suddenly decided that I shouldn't be supporting the career of a woman beater, but because the album was absolutely crap  Odd that Norway's reaction to the whole thing though was to send the single up to #1. You'd have thought there'd have been a backlash against them in the immediate aftermath, not increased support...at least the Chris Brown thing was a few years before. He hadn't been excused for what he did obviously but it wasn't at the forefront of everybody's minds. His era immediately after the domestic violence was a commercial failure.
February 1, 201213 yr Author WOW, my recap video of BJSC XLI - Semi Final 1 has gotten 297 views! It's.. incredible! :o And the viewers are from 24 different countries, most of them from Norway who might've seen the video just because of Tone Damli :o Edited February 1, 201213 yr by Freeze
February 1, 201213 yr Ashton sending BJSC international :o The most any of my recap vids ever managed was about 100 views!
February 1, 201213 yr Well, the whole tracklist is in the description, so it's not surprising for me.
February 1, 201213 yr Author Still, it's interesting. People have chosen to watch it even with the "BJSC XLI - Semi Final 1" title! I wonder if anyone (based on the recap) has youtubed/researched any of the tracks in there to listen to it in full :o Edited February 1, 201213 yr by Freeze
February 1, 201213 yr My video for Look Back is at 40k. Norway is going fucking nuts for this track. Understandable, as it's AMAZING. Also, so proud to be responsible for sending BJSC international like that.
