I don't think J-Lo HAS a signature song at the moment. A little more time may prove whether On The Floor can be it, but certainly it ISN'T Ain't It Funny or Waiting For Tonight, neither of which are hugely remembered outside of the internet gays.

If you had to pick one, you'd have to go with Jenny From The Block, in that it was almost notorious as J-Lo parodying herself.

Did we come up/agree with one for Coldplay? I'm finding theirs quite hard. It's definitely 'Fix You', 'Yellow' or 'Viva La Vida' for me though.

Fix You without a doubt.

Rihanna - Umbrella

The Saturdays - Up

Lady GaGa - Bad Romance

Nicki Minaj - Super Bass

David Guetta - When Love Takes Over

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling

N-Dubz - Playing With Fire

Adele - Someone Like You

Jessie J - Price Tag

Coldplay's one is listed as Clocks or Viva La Vida. Could be, but Fix You and Yellow could be also.

Oh, I know that, I've done it SO many times. But it's a very useful page. :D

Nah. For J. Lo I'd say 'Ain't It Funny', 'Jenny From the Block' or 'Love Don't Cost A Thing'. It's hard to suggest and think OTF as it's so new, but it could get there I guess.

Certainly not AIF :P but Jenny From The Block is a good call I guess.

Why Ain't It Funny? I don't even think I can remember how it goes

I'd say either Jenny From The Block or Waiting For Tonight, just because OTF is so new. It could get there in time though as Jonjo said.

Someone needs to go to youtube RIGHT AWAY.

I somehow managed to end up browsing High Octane Nightmare Fuel in SpongeBob SquarePants the other day.

Well if you look at his sig... :P

Some of those probably apply more to the US. For example, I'd have Ghost Town for the Specials, not A Message To You, Rudy. In some cases I think most people would struggle to name any song by the artist other than their "signature song". As examples - Starland Vocal Band, Nena. There are also songs like It's My Party which are very well known but most people would probably be unable to say who it was by (Lesley Gore).

I also think Kate Bush's applies more to the US, I'm not really old enough to comment on her stuff through the times but nowadays it's surely Wuthering Heights, at least in the UK anyway.
For me, a signature hit is a song that is so huge in terms of popularity, cultural impact, influence, etc, that it basically takes a life of its own, that becomes bigger than just "a hit by whoever", that transcends generations. It's a song that, if you simply mention the song title to someone in conversation (without mentioning the act), they would immediately know what you were talking about without even a moment's thought. Thus, in a way, it's not even associated with the artist anymore in that it can stand on its own and be remembered apart from that.

Not every act has a signature hit (some will never get one), and others could have multiple. Acts like Madonna, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, etc, are indeed good examples of people who have several. But this is mostly reserved for such huge acts.

This. I'm having a good smirk at majority of peoples inclusions.

Amy Winehouse - Rehab

I would probably say 'Back To Black' is as much now, despite Rehab being the bigger hit, BTB is remembered most fondly now, as proved by its performance when she died.

I would have said Wuthering Heights as well. That was probably the first one where I spotted the apparent US bias but I'd forgotten it by the time I got to the end of the list

Well, it is a US-based site, but most of them are the same. I didn't see too many that I disagreed with. Muse's as Uprising, I'm not sure of though. It certainly is a good song, and one of their best, but Plug In Baby or Supermassive Black Hole might well be a signature song over Uprising. Uprising feels more like a comeback hit. Uprising was by far the biggest song in the US, that explains it.

"Uprising" is by no means their biggest over here, it actually underperformed IMO.

Plug In Baby

Feeling Good

Supermassive Black Hole

Starlight

Knights of Cydonia

I think any of those could be applicable for different people.

Muse is a tough one, while Knights Of Cydonia and Supermassive Black Hole were much bigger Feeling Good is one of the definitive versions of such a classic song!

Yes, I realise that. However it is interesting to note which acts do have different songs as their "signature song" in the US from the one that would be chosen here.

On a separate note, there are artists whose "signature song" is arguably one sung by somebody else. The obvious example would be Bob Dylan. Even with Lou Reed, they go for Walk On The Wild Side. Over here another candidate would be Perfect Day, in large part due to the Various Artists version used for a BBC promo.
