You even prefer 'Daddy'?

Well they're pretty much equal, but I just about prefer Daddy. I am aware I'm the only one with this opinion :P

Next To Me is #2 on Irish iTunes which to me screams UK #1 as British acts generally chart lower over here and even Heaven didn't go top 20 I think (it started low and climbed but never got too high). I do think it will be really frontloaded though.

Yeah, Emeli Sande will obviously be frontloaded, but it doesn't mean it's a bad song.

I don't get why people don't like Daddy either. I don't think it's as good as Heaven, but I think it's great. The main reason I think it did poorly in the charts was because it wasn't promoted very well. I heard it practically nowhere, but Heaven was in heavy rotation on most of the biggest radio stations in the country for months before it was released.

I think Next to Me will obviously do very well. The fact that Heaven has climbed back so high up iTunes recently shows there's a lot of hype for Emeli.

Next To Me is easily Emeli's best song for me, really hope it gets to number 1  I'm expecting it to lose to DJ Fresh though, which is also good but not as good as Louder (although that's not aged well at all :( ), I agree that Emeli should outlast DJ fresh either way though
So that means that according to digitalsalesdata.com the itunes chart is determined by sales in the last 24 hours. I always wondered how they calculate the chart.
Oh no I love 'Next To Me'! I can't wait to buy the album. I just hope it doesn't end up being a non-number one. I can't wait for the album sales.

I'm pretty sure it must be more than 24 hours (probably 48). Perhaps the guy who runs that website doesn't know, and is just assuming 24 hours (which means his calculations could be ending up wrong).

No your not:

Heaven (11/10)>>>>>>>>>>>Daddy (9.5/10)>>Next To Me (9.0/10)

All brilliant though for me. 'Heaven' was my favourite song of last year. She is doing an album signing in HMV in Glasgow, just 10 minutes away from me next week so I am planning to go meet her, VERY excited.

I hope Next To Me doesn't get to #1 - I do like it but 'Hot Right Now' is far better IMO. I think Next To Me will have a longer chart run though so...

I hope Emeli wins next week, because I feel a little bit bad for Heaven missing out (although the right person definitely did win that week imo).

And Ed Sheeran is top 200 on US iTunes, if anybody cares. :D

It's only a matter of time before he's massive there (at the very least with his album, quite possibly with at least one single as well), mark my words.

Woo at him starting to make a small impression :D People were excited at The Wanted breaking the top 200 before and look where they are now. (Okay, they're not massive massive, but #12 on iTunes and #30 on the Hot 100 so far is pretty damn great for a British boyband).

Why 'Give Me Love'? Random. I assumed it was 'The A Team' or 'Lego House'. GML is one of the weaker songs on his album.

I'm guessing with 'The A Team'? If New Zealand / Australia are anything to go by - then One Direction and Ed Sheeran should both do well with their debut singles over in the US - really goes to show how poor JLS are when other boybands (i.e. The Wanted) can do well out there.

On the Emeli Sande discussion, 'Daddy' is my favourite track from her, a #21 peak and a lot of dislike towards it seem really unjust to me - even the production was flawless. 'Next to Me' is fantastic too though, hoping it can be another T5 hit.

In my opinion:

'Daddy' > 'Next to Me' >>> 'Heaven'

I love 'Daddy'. It is such a great song and deserves more love. I think many people just look at its chart peak and instantly assumes it is rubbish. I wonder what the reception would be if it got to #1.

I thought Daddy was awful before it charted. The country seemed to agree. Next To Me is a return to form but is nowhere near as good as Heaven.

Since you're all on the subject of 'Daddy', I was watching Xtra Factor a few months ago and Emeli performed it on that and I thought it was amazing, but then I heard the studio version and wasn't keen on it.

The song is much better live IMO.

I found it quite strange that Daddy totally flopped following on from the huge success of Heaven (and Next To Me is likely to repeat if not better that success), I can only guess the hype around her was fading slightly before the Brits, Critics Choice etc.

It's with Give Me Love! :o I've never heard it before, but I think it's from his album.

Yeah, One Direction did very well in Australasia. And they also got to #2 in Canada!!!!

JLS released Everybody in Love as their lead single in the US. I think they would've done better with something like One Shot or Eyes Wide Shut, since the US public love up-beat songs, as do their radio stations.

One Direction are easily going to make Billboard top 20 with WMYB (it's released soon, added to radio on 28th Feb, same day as Want U Back by Cher Lloyd!), probably even top 10 :o Possibly at the same time as (though more likely just after) The Wanted!

It really shows how little JLS' management thought of them when they took JLS straight to the US after they were pretty huge in Britain, released EIL, and gave up once it flopped. If they actually believed in the band, they would've stuck it out.

The Wanted are more musically diverse than JLS so I'm glad the better band is doing well - especially since they were the underdogs in 2010. Having said that, GYC is still shit and sleazy. 'Lightening' should be the second US single though. Now that is a good song.

In the US, if you go top 10, you tend to stay there for at least 2 months, so it's quite possible they'll overlap. It'll be strange if they do! :o And Set Fire to the Rain will still be top 10 then aswell.

I agree. And I think another reason they chose Everybody In Love was because Whatcha Say by Jason Derulo and Replay by Iyaz had both just been MASSIVE hits there, and Everybody in Love was produced by the same guys that made those songs, so they probably assumed Everybody in Love would be big aswell.

I think even Beat Again would've been a better choice. I've said this before, but it's got that Akon/Kardinal Offishall/Colby O'Donnis sound which was popular in 2009, so maybe that could've been a bigger hit than EIL was.
