It looks like iTunes have a problem, and not your credit card. I would say wait some hours and try again later ;)

If the problems doesn't disappear, contact Apple imo.

The problem with iTunes seems to have been fixed now. :)

Working for me now as well. *le purchases Hot Right Now*

Now Emeli Sandé's in the top 10 her price advantage may start to tell, could be close after all. Then again, could be a "Dynamite" / "Teenage Dream" situation where the album's sales hurt those of the single.

Speaking of which, if one of Whitney's hits packages does get to #1 (denying "Our Version of Events" in the process) I'm getting massive déjà vu to when Florence got stuck behind Jacko despite a >60k opening.

Hoping Emeli can go at least top 3.. think she might struggle to overhaul Guetta/Sia though! Assuming DJ Fresh gets past them too, obvs.. :P

It was 'Please Don't Let Me Go' that Teenage Dream lost out to - Dynamite was the week before.

She got to #1 in the end though which is the most important thing.

Not to mention 'Start Without You' also blocking it, a true chart injustice that was. :(

I can see this happening, both possibly clearing at least 80k. But Emeli will very likely be a consistent seller and either get number 1 at a later date or sell like double platinum anyway.

Whether it's Emeli or Whitney at the top (I'm still 99% certain it'll be Emeli especially if Whitney's The Ultimate Collection is still budget-only) 2012 is starting off looking like another female-dominated year in terms of #1 albums, with 2 weeks at #1 for Adele so far, then 2 for Lana and at least 1 for Emeli/Whitney.

All but 18 of the weeks of 2011 had a #1 album by a predominantly or entirely female act :o Steps are about half-and-half, then there were only 17 weeks with predominantly male #1 albums. And of those 'predominantly male' #1 albums I've included Nero whose vocalist is a female.

Or to put it another way, Adele had as many weeks at #1 in 2011 as all male or mixed acts put together :kink:

EDIT: Wait, scratch that - all but 19, I missed out Olly Murs.

Ah, my bad. Same principle though, "Please Don't Let Me Go" sold less than "Dynamite" as well so it would have been closer.

Like Florence, then :D

Does anyone have any idea why Madonna's GMAYL doing so badly in the UK? Don't thInk it's a bad song, it's very catchy and there is so much shite out there doing much better. Even beyonce did better with that lead single.
Could this be to make it eligible to chart? I thought any album under a fiver was condemned to "budget chart"

I think the limit is more like £3.99, and only seems to apply to physical albums?

Albums can appear in both full-price & budget charts at the same time - Lady G's 'Fame' recently did.

I did prefer Run the World, but both are good songs. I think Madonna isn't doing very well in the UK is because she seems to be getting very little radio airplay here. I assume she's doing better in all the other countries because they're playing the song more on the radio there.

Amazing how many later singles are overshadowing earlier singles these days....

Next To Me > Daddy

Sexy and I Know It > Champagne Showers

Kiss The Stars > What Do You Take Me For?

Love On Top > Countdown

Edge Of Glory > Judas

Mama Do The Hump > When I Was A Youngster

Titanium > Without You/Little Bad Girl/Where Dem Girls At?

Firework > Teenage Dream

International Love > Rain Over Me

Who You Are > Who's Laughing Now

Lego House > You Need Me I Don't Need You

Of course most of these are because the later singles are of much higher quality than the previous one but I still find it weird anyway. Especially when we're so used to singles gradually doing worse with every release.

I'd hazard a guess at this happening because the law of diminishing chart returns meant that the more people that bought an album, the less would have the need to buy each subsequent single. Now that barely anybody buys albums, these songs are 'brand new' to a lot more people. The dying albums market has given a huge boost to the singles market for sure. People still want to buy music, just in a more fragmented way than before apparently.

Next To Me is also a pre-release single so it doesn't really count and Who You Are was totally bombing before it got used on X Factor 3 f***ing times though. Everything else OK.
That's good that Jennifer Hudson is doing the tribute. She's really probably the best to do it. Either her, or Mariah Carey.

Ahem!! :kink:

'Run the World (Girls)' was a musical masterpiece. It's the majority of the UK's loss (and the world arguably) if they failed to realise how brilliant a song it is. Far better than GMAYL.

^ Yeah, Leona is definitely a good enough singer to do it. And I guess Whitney was an influence to her. But Jennifer and Mariah actually had connections to Whitney, like in terms of the music industry.

I agree with you about Run the World. It's such a good song.
