On a little tangent here, but it's strange that Justin Bieber is one of the biggest pop stars in the world, but he does so badly in the charts (his albums do really well in the US though). He gets practically no radio/TV support in the UK anymore though (probably for a similar reason to Cher Lloyd, because he has a controversial personality), but still.

I think he is more of the package than the actual songs, which (even with me being unbiased) are hardly cutting edge or modern classics, they usually work on the fact they sell him and will appeal directly to his fanbase

Yeah, I know what you mean there. :P He's only had 2 Top 10 hits, right? Baby and Eenie Meenie.

Yeah. Even in the US, where he's more popular, he doesn't have much success in the Hot 100 (but again, it probably hurts him a lot that radio and MTV won't touch him). He had two #1 albums last year though! :o

I mean, it's always been like that sometimes. It's like that with other artists currently, who are very popular, but aren't charting well, but I can think of explanations for that (e.g. their target audience don't like to pay for things). And when I was younger, looking back, I don't think the chart success of artists such as Britney Spears represents how popular they were, but they still had some massive hits from time to time. With Justin Bieber today, he's basically a phenomenon, but his chart success is just waaaaaaay out of proportion with his popularity (hopefully I'm making sense here ).

Yeah, you're making sense. :P I've always found it weird how his songs haven't done quite as well as his popularity would suggest they would. With the amount of views it had on YouTube, I'd have expected Baby to be a number #1 smash!

You better :P

I would buy it but I already bought his live version of it - probably my favourite performance by anyone on XF ever. (Although I've only really watched 3 or 4 series properly to be fair :P)

Fingers crossed Justin Bieber Drake has a massive hit single to continue the streak. ;)

Fixed.

It has been a more Canadian year than most so far. A couple of weeks ago there were new entries at #2 on both charts by Canadians (Alyssa Reid on the singles and Leonard Cohen on the albums) :P

Bad Girls is rising again after dipping on Sunday (#49 now). Radio 1 play kicking in I guess. I'm interested to see how this holds up at the weekends in future. Its stalling and then fall on Sunday seems like it succumbed to the effect but if so you'd expect it to be rising more. I don't know, I think about these things too much. :drama:

Poor Madge, GMAYL is really flopping now. I wonder what MDNA will shift in its first week. I hope Girls Gone Wild can save the era but right now it feels like Femme Fatale in the "over before it got started" sense but much worse. Madge will sell more albums though I guess.

Azealia Banks is still at #89. Hmm. If this can stay top 100 all week then maybe it is beginning to pick up some steam.

Fixed.

I'm gonna pretend that I didn't see that. :P

Hoping Alyssa gets more success this year, if she bothers releasing the album here. Fingers crossed she does, I need a physical copy of it!

This is a full studio version, totally different :kink:

I don't think he's one of the biggest pop stars in the world, i think he's one of the biggest stars in the world, that happens to make pop music.

I never thought many people really liked him for his music though, more the look and package as someone just said

Bieber is more well-known as a hate figure though surely? Hence the low sales contrasting to how massive a presence he is.
Gym Class Heroes at #11 on iTunes now...

I reckon they'll be #8/#9 officialy on Sunday :)

Up to 10 on my itunes now :)

Good points. He much more than just a pop star, and he's definitely very talked about, but like 90% of people hate him.

Probably not the right place to post this, but Capital just said that Paradise will kick off tomorrow's BRITS.

:nocheer: Why are they performing Paradise again!?

They'll probably do more than one performance though. I heard they're dueting with Noel Gallagher?

Oh, that will be interesting!

Glad that Starships has picked back up after the weekend. It's been in darkgreen/green on kworb for a while now, and could climb back up to #6 soon! :cheer:

The BRITs are supposed to be a celebration of the best of the last 12 months of music, to me it makes no sense to not perform your biggest hit.

True.

Although does that mean we're getting Someone Like You again from Adele :kink:
