February 12, 201214 yr ^ I agree totally about the singles chart not representing what's popular very well. Moreso in recent years aswell. Songs that seem to be EVERYWHERE in the real world for me are often missing the top 75. The charts now just seem to represent what Heart FM and MTV play. I do like many of the songs, but they're not representing popularity very well, although I'm sure my mum likes the charts more now than she did in 2005, with all the happy-clappy pop songs in it now.
February 12, 201214 yr Basically Goyte being number 1, f*** yes. About f***ing time something that was actually good was number 1. I love that one too! :yahoo: BTW, I don't post here much, but am grateful to the OP when the full Top 100 are included, to save me going to the other site manually. Everything here is 'at a glance' whereas you have to scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, and then scroll some more to get to 76 onwards. Official Charts is such a badly laid-out site.
February 13, 201214 yr I never clicked on this thread before and I'm kicking myself now. WHAT HAVE I BEEN MISSING?!
February 13, 201214 yr Now I haven't looked at the charts in a very very very long time, basically everything in the top 20 in the last 5 years have been pure garbage, I can't even name the last decent number 1 (not counting RATM - Killing In The Name as that didn't really get to number 1 based on the song), so I'm pretty f***ing surprised to see an actual talented artist with an original and unique song (aka doesnt sound like every other f***ing track in the top 20 like pretty much everything else that has been number 1 for the last 5+ years). Basically Goyte being number 1, f*** yes. About f***ing time something that was actually good was number 1. Basically THIS. I am really surprised but also pleased that the UK buying public have for once shown some decent taste.
February 13, 201214 yr yeah the problem is with the music industry today no majors are willing to take risks so they just take already well sold formulas on all their artists making it all sound the same then this transates to the charts as radio plays mostly major label stuff, leading to the charts being epically boring and have a lack of eccentricness they had like pre-2005, so it's a real win for music to have a song like this, without a campaign or any bollocks like that get to number 1 naturally without having made a track that sounds like the rest. In the current financial and sales climates major record companies will no longer spend money gambling on the next big thing (not that they ever did that much) when they can just sell the current big thing again, knowing plenty of people will buy it.
February 13, 201214 yr Its goes to show that with the right song and with all promo in line and at the right time the best songs will reach the top of the charts and shows both why OA/OS is needed and how it can work to perfection!
February 13, 201214 yr Is "The Collection" by Barry White album released in 1988 or 1994? Either way, it's got much more weeks in than three and has peaked at #5 or #10.
February 13, 201214 yr Author Is "The Collection" by Barry White album released in 1988 or 1994? Either way, it's got much more weeks in than three and has peaked at #5 or #10. Are they not the same album? Wikipedia doesn't list the 1994 one as a separate release so I assume it's just a re-entry (although Chartstats lists them separately, but they do that for quite a lot of old albums that re-enter). I'm just about to update the top 100s anyway so any MW errors will be smoothed out.
February 13, 201214 yr It has 169 (or so) weeks on OCC's website so it could be either one (if there are two of those) The funnies thing is that BOTH charted in 2001 (not simultaniously though) EDIT: They're probably the same album because they've never charted at the same time... Where the 1988 edition ends, the newer one begins lol Edited February 13, 201214 yr by SKOB

Where the 1988 edition ends, the newer one begins lol Top 100s updated and I've combined the weeks of the two Barry White albums because I can find no evidence that they're different albums :P Fleetwood Mac's Greatest Hits (re-entry at #88) on the other hand was a tricky one, as they have 2 very different albums with that title - I've used the weeks total for the later one because the little album cover on the OCC website matches that, not the earlier one.
