February 23, 201213 yr If by "around here" you mean buzzjack, I think the 5 pages of thread he's got in this forum show he's pretty popular. And if you mean the UK, I think the amount of top 10 of 2011 lists the Weeknd showed up on again shows he does have a presence in the UK. All I'm saying is that in 2010, there's no way I would have given any time to slow jams like this. But then after House of Balloons and 4, I find myself with an ipod full of Drake, The Weeknd and Frank Ocean. That's just how trends work and it's why I think this will be a hit. Radio 1 have shown that they're on the ball with this latest RnB trend by having Frank Ocean on their Sound Of list, so I expect them to be giving this some heavy airplay. 98 posts for a topic that has been open for almost 11 months? Plus the third was my posts and it only got about 20 unique posters. Also, not all of them like The Weeknd. Many of the Top 10 of 2011 lists contain Bon Iver. It doesn't mean Bon Iver is popular. Both Bon Iver and The Weeknd have a presence, of course. But popular? Lady GaGa is popular.
February 25, 201213 yr How anybody can listen to this and legit think it's anything other than absolutely atrocious is beyond me, but whatever turns people on I guess. Edited February 25, 201213 yr by Jaseeee
February 25, 201213 yr How anybody can listen to this and legit think it's anything other than absolutely atrocious is beyond me, but whatever turns people on I guess. it's not atrocious as such, just incredibly dull. I'm blind towards all the hype about it's production too.
February 25, 201213 yr I really shouldn't have dismissed this after one listen. I've come back to it a week later and it's really grown on me! :o I really like the chilled atmospheric feel to it. It's a shame that it won't do anywhere near as well as DJ... or OMG but I hope this can make some sort of impact in the UK :(
February 29, 201213 yr bleh, it's growing on me. :( I suppose looking at the comments before listening made me expect it to be something mindblowingly incredible, but I'm kind of seeing where people are coming from with it now. less is more sometimes, I guess.
March 1, 201213 yr I'm still loving it, it's so much better than the try hard generic crap he usually tries (not saying I don't like generic because you all know I do, but Usher just doesn't pull it off...)
March 4, 201213 yr Best single from Usher in a LONG time! I hope he doesn't waste this like he did with Papers.
March 6, 201213 yr Holy crap. This sounds better with each listen. Incredible stuff. I am LOVING the cutting out after all the building up. Just the way it should be.
March 9, 201213 yr Author Weird video, fairly boring too. Could've been better ... ah well, still loving the song.
March 10, 201213 yr This has finally grown on me. I do much prefer generic Usher though to be honest.
March 10, 201213 yr Weird video, fairly boring too. Could've been better ... ah well, still loving the song. The concept of the video is to have no climax per se as well. I say it's clever. :o
March 11, 201213 yr I thought it would take a lot to get me to like an Usher song after OMG but this is just so good! Video's awesome tooo
March 11, 201213 yr when is the album out??? the song is good enough...the video, well...it could have had a few scenes with him shirtless
