If this is true, I will seriously lose all respect for her that I had.

Career suicide? I think her team is genius if this is to feature Chris Brown.

Madonna released the SEX book and put her bits out for the whole world to see and it didn't exactly damaged her career. It was OUTRAGEOUS! And this is a good word as it brings enormous publicity with it.

Plus, Rihanna will most likely be seen as forgiving and will be hailed as a saint.

I still hope it's not Chris Brown, purely based on the fact that I can't stand his vocal style (bar on Beautiful People and even the new track).

DefPenRadio (the people who denied it first) are saying this is happening now but it looks like speculation to me so whatever. RiRi being hailed as a saint by the public is possible I guess but her fanbase is up in arms so I guess it defends what her priority is.

I think this could be..interesting. I don't think it would be career suicide, I like Chris Brown's music these days although I'm still not keen on him as a person but I think it would be seen more of Rihanna 'forgiving' him (not quite the right way to put it, what he did was really bad and he can never fully be forgiven) and it would certainly draw plenty of publicity. What Chris did clearly didn't lose him all his fans, I still see plenty of teenage girls on Twitter saying that they love him.

From the tweets I'd be inclined to say it is happening.

That tweet from Chris seems to confirm it really.
This isn't releasing a bloody sex book! She's potentially duetting with the man who attacked her. It's so messed up that so many people are willing to brush off domestic violence. I'm not just being a dramatic twat. It's unforgivable. I couldn't care less what she is getting up to behind the scenes but to publically work with him? Moronic and insensitive just doesn't cover it.

I'm sure they'll get a quick hit out of it but her image is going to be ruined and the backlash will be massive.
Hmm yeah I think this is happening. I do think it will turn out good and Chris will suit the track, but it won't end well. Thinking about it career suicide is a bit OTT but era suicide is almost a certain. Duetting with the man who attacked is NOT good, even if the songs turns out to be great. If she really MUST release Birthday Cake in full as a single, I think she should at least wait until after Talk That Talk and Where Have You Been, both sure to be big hits (especially the latter), and just have Xtina on it rather than Chris...

Completely agree, will go off her so much it's unreal if she does this. I've followed her career since 'Pon De Replay' and been a huge fan ever since, it feels like a huge slap in the face to me as a fan personally. f*** knows what she and her team are thinking, I'm praying to god it doesn't happen.

Chris Brown's tweet is interesting. I've always wanted to hear what a song with the two of them on it would sound like, but they've missed the boat on that particular experiment imo...

Cinderella!!!

It's interesting why she might do a duet with Chris Brown. Is it career suicide? No of course not. Are her fans really going to stop listening to her music after releasing a song with Chris Brown? Perhaps some, but the majority now. You could say it is for publicity, but neither really needs it and I don't see the benefit to either them. I don't actually see a reason behind it, expect possibly Rihanna letting the world know she's forgiven Chris Brown. Throughout this whole event, it's always been obvious that she still loves him regardless of what he did. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they're oficially back together within the next year.

Well they were apparently all over each other at Rihanna's birthday party the other night, so I think it might have already happened. I had so much respect for Rihanna, but if she does this, then that is gone. Its sends out exactly the wrong message to her fans, and she needs to get it in her head that she is a role model now. I am praying this is not true.

That's what I mean. They are probably are back together, but not offically. There's nothing to gain from them going public.

I don't think doing this track will be career suicide for her at all, because both have loyal fanbases. And, people who say they won't buy another record from her PROTEST etc, it won't happen.

If they get back in a relationship? Yes, a fair amount of respect is lost. If he were to punch her again when they got back, I don't even think I'd feel that sympathetic, if she's willing to get herself in a situation with him again.

I really hope that the collabration with Chris Brown doesn't happen for two reasons. Firstly I think it will damage both their reputations and it will seem as if Rihanna is condoning what he did to her. Secondly I think that a Christina Aguilera collab would be fantastic! :kink:
Xtina loves cake, I can't see why she turn it down.

I'm really not sure what to think of this news (if it's true) really, it just seems so... unbelievable.

To be quite honest, I don't think there will be much backlash. He has received such success since the beating (look at "Beautiful People" and "Yeah Yeah Yeah"). People have opened their hearts to him (for some godamn reason).
I'm a Rihanna fan but are her team trying to ruin her? The only thing worse than a collaboraton with Chris Brown is a collaboration with Chris Brown on Birthday Cake. To some degree I actually think a Chris Brown feature remix would work on Where Have You Been (due to the lyrical content) but for me, the rumoured news of a song I don't like and a collaboration I wouldn't like just makes this era even worse for me. SIGH.

Well its officially her birthday in 5 hours US time basically. Has it been confirmed that it is being released on her birthday or is it just an educated guess? It would make a lot of sense, although its a shame the same can't be said about the supposed colab.
