I've been away for most of this month, so haven't been able to begin anything yet. And I'm still unsure wether I am the right person to do this, but I could give it a try regardless. Don't think I have time for this until next week anyway though, so if most of you feel that's too late for a contest, then someone else has to play the host.

Hello indie forum, it's rather scary in here! I'm considering taking part in this next edition of Unkown Pleasures (Contrary to popular belief I do enjoy indie music!). Can anyone join or is this some kind of exclusive club?

Anyone can join but it's usually restricted to around 30 entries so it's first come first served (this is upto to the discretion of the host though.)

I have so many songs that I want to enter. And so little time to enter them, haha.

:cheer: I've decided I'd like to begin this on thursday, but I have some - if I can call them - 'inquiries' before that:

 

 

1. I was wondering if anyone would fancy making a banner for the contest? When I made one for BJSC it took me ages to figure out and create. I also had photoshop at that point. But I don't have that anymore nor do I have any ideas what so ever for this contest. So for the sake of making things prettier/cooler and more.. yeah, interesting - if anyone's willing, that would be great! :D

2. Is there a website where I can easily find out what songs are eligible to enter? If there isn't, then I probably could use some help in filtering out confirmed entries and such :thinking: :unsure:

3. How many participants SHOULD I allow in? I don't mind more than 30, but if most of you feel that 31+ is a bit too much, then I'll be happy to abide to 30 entries.

4. How long should the voting period be? 14 days? And which day is most suited for results presentation? (I'm generally not that familiar with when other stuff are being presented on this site)

2. These were the rules for the last edition. Can't see any reason to alter them TBH

 

01 There is no rule with regard to genre or length.

02 The artist or band of your choice must not have reached the top 40 singles chart in the UK.

03 The artist or band of your choice must not have reached the top 20 albums chart in the UK.


04 The song must not be on the current UK release schedule.

05 To enter the competition you must send an MP3 by PM and also include a link to the song on (preferably) YouTube, Vimeo, or Soundcloud.

06 The MP3 must be either 256 or 320kbps please, 128, 64, 32, 16 or 8kbps would do shockingly poorly so there’s really no need to bother with them.

07 You must not choose a song that has been previously entered (full list below).


08 Songs from the same artist will not be allowed to participate in the contest simultaneously. Also, songs by acts who featured in the last contest will not be accepted. If two people choose the same act, the one who submitted their entry first will be allowed to enter the act.

09 You must not reveal or even hint at which song you have sent. Part of the fun is not knowing who sent what so please do stick to this one.


10 I reserve the right to refuse an entry if I feel it does not fit within the spirit of the competition.

 

If you want help then I guess you can pm one of us. I would be up for that as I'm sure others would as well. As long as you didn't reveal who sent what to anyone else.

 

3. It's upto you how many entrants but most particpants have historically felt that 30 is a good number. I'm sure this could be stretched to 32ish if needs be.

 

4. The voting period for the last UP was about 2 and a half weeks but again that's up to you. I think this did get extended in the end as it did seem to last forever - Sorry Dandy! And results are presented in any way you feel comfortable with. I wouldn't worry about the presentation, after all the music is the thing!
