StooShe are definitely much fresher than any girlband in a while (they're no The Saturdays of course but I do really like them), I do hope that their sound connects with the public. I respect them for not just going as expected and doing cookie cutter girlband pop.

I could see Stooshe gaining a lot of from the "top ten" effect considering they haven't got a built in fanbase yet and a lot of people probably doesn't know it's out today.

Rockstar  #10 - that's that dead and buried then.

i am deffo opening the next thread up :D if i don't i will die

My thoughts are with you in this tense and difficult time... Good luck! :teresa:

Dappy down to #10. I was hoping he'd stay at #9 at least until Marcus got in, since Dappy will definitely drop out, letting in Tinchy, who'd be #11 by then hopefully, whilst I can see Kelly Clarkson staying in the top 10 and hence Tinchy stalling at #11. Unless Kelly gets put back up to 99p soon. I kind of want Stronger to stay in the top 10 a bit more. The song has done really well anyway, but I feel like it should've been even bigger for some reason.

Can you please wait until it actually gets close to 1,000 posts first, rather than the usual close it soon after 950?

Agreed. It's looking like it'll spend a 4th week at #1 in America and yet it's *only* spent two weeks at #8 in the UK. It's such a fantastic song and deserves to go at least Gold her.

That goes for everyone. So often because people are obsessed with doing it that iit's opened with another 3 or 4 hours worth of discussion left in the old one.

I really don't see what the fascination is with opening the next iTunes thread. You won't win a prize for being over efficient (and you don't really gain anything from it either :P ). Didn't the last thread end up being closed on 49 pages? It's always been 50 pages.

Pretty much what RabbitFurCoat posted above. :D

Oh, and delighted that Dappy is down to #10. Would also laugh if Tinchy Stryder ended up overtaking Marcus Collins. Then StooShe can come along and overtake the pair of them.

Gah, unhappy that Marcus' version might outpeak the original. Oh well.

And I know it's a few pages back but actual lol at the person who said that "Somebody That Used To Know" wouldn't be remembered, and that "Fireflies" wasn't either. The latter was the 6th biggest song of the year and came from an artist who'd had zero previous success, hits like that aren't just forgotten in the blink of an eye. Gotye may have no more success after "Somebody That I Used To Know" over here (although "Making Mirrors" is doing far better than "Ocean Eyes" was doing at this stage so there's some hope for him) but the song's hardly going to be forgotten.

I've not heard much of Fireflies since it was big to be honest.

Maybe a better example of a song that had 3 weeks at #1 that nobody cares about anymore is Give Me Everything, but I got his point anyway.

I agree with you about Somebody That I Used to Know. I can't tell the future, so we could be wrong, but I'd bet a lot that the song will be remembered well by many people in the future.

"Give Me Everything" was still a massive hit though, it would probably be more remembered if it weren't overshadowed by "Party Rock Anthem".

Yes, it was a massive hit (according to the chart). Nobody can deny that. But by that logic every big "hit" is remembered. That includes stuff such as Lonely by Akon, for example.

"Lonely" I think is remembered but through notoriety. Some of his post-2005 output has been beyond dreadful but I'm eternally thankful Akon has stopped using that chipmunk noise on his songs. Just comes across as a desperate rehash of the Chaka Khan sample on "Through The Wire".

I can't access the top 1000 page for some reason, could someone tell me where Olly's 'Oh My Goodness' and Rebecca's 'Too Good To Lose' is?

Yeah, it was certainly a... let's say, discussion-provoking song.

I actually really liked most of Akon's songs. I miss hearing him on the radio all the time. One of the best artists of the past 10 years imo.

You what? GMA was absolutely INESCAPABLE for 2011, I'd hardly say it's anywhere near being forgotten given clubs and radio have only just stopped playing it all the time...
