February 29, 201213 yr and wouldnt deserve to either as they are sensational albums in their own right How can you comment on what it deserves when it hasnt even been made yet? Lol.
February 29, 201213 yr Judging by 19 and 21 I hardly expect anything too far removed from that formula. Simple really
February 29, 201213 yr Author Reading this makes me wonder that you guys think that ALL other albums have stopped selling? If 21 reaches 5m someday, Abba will be at 5.2m by then. Edited February 29, 201213 yr by SKOB
February 29, 201213 yr Reading this makes me wonder that you guys think that ALL other albums have stopped selling? If 21 reaches 5m someday, Abba will be at 5.2m by then. That's why I said it's guaranteed at least #4 but I wouldn't be surprised if it got #2 - I think '21' will in the long run sell higher than the current figures for The Beatles and ABBA but by then those two will have sold more etc. I think by the time '21' cracks the top 3, if it does at all, it'll be overtaking The Beatles rather than ABBA, as ABBA's GH is by far the highest selling of the albums above '21' at the moment (it was #89 last week and seems to be in the top 100 more often than it isn't, while the rest only occasionally enter the top 100 when they're specifically boosted for some reason). But if there's anything the last year of charts has taught us it's that you should never underestimate Adele, so I really think it is possible that she could get #2 anyway :P Probably not #1 but it could get very close to the sales of Queen's GH minus its sales as part of boxsets. February 29, 201213 yr 'Gold' is now on 647 Top 100 Weeks. (It is no use anyone going by the Chart Stats Site - it misses out 144 of its Top 100 Weeks). 'Greatest Hits', by Queen, is on 635 Top 100 Weeks. (Chart Stats misses out 139 of its Top 100 Weeks). Edited February 29, 201213 yr by zeus555

'Greatest Hits', by Queen, is on 635 Top 100 Weeks. (Chart Stats misses out 139 of its Top 100 Weeks). What's your figure for Gold - Greatest Hits' top 75 weeks again? I've decided to just ignore the erroneous Chartstats data for 2000-2001 and just use your figure adding on its 76-100 weeks since 2007 for the top 100 thread.
February 29, 201213 yr Bre - 'Gold' has 449 UK Top 75 Weeks. The most by any Album. Thanks - coincidentally that means the figure I was going to change it to (503, with 54 weeks added where it's been between 76 and 100 since 2007) is exactly the same as Chartstats anyway, so I don't need to change anything.
February 29, 201213 yr The part I was disputing was "another million on what it has now at the least" purely on the back of the success of the next album. I think you misunderstood - what I meant was another million on what it has now ie. eventually it will sell 5 million, and this will be boosted by her next album but not completely because of it.
February 29, 201213 yr It's been charting on the budget album chart for the last 6 weeks. It's also showing as being the 74th biggest selling album of the year to date. Yes, it was re issued recently which is good news as it will add to its stunning total and hopefully make the top ten all time again.
February 29, 201213 yr I have no doubt whatsoever that Adele will at the least move up to 4th place ahead of Oasis and possibly move into 3rd over a longer period of time. I am actually quiet shocked in one sense that the biggest selling album is a greatest hits package and also that two different greatest hits make up the top 3. That said, in those days greatest hits were real greatest hits by artists with extensive catalogues to offer and furthermore greatest hits releases were not as common as they are today. It is my belief there will never be a greatest hits to rival the sales of Abba and Queen. That said, Take Thats Ultimate Collection has sold 2.1 million which is excellent considering it the same tracklisting as the original million selling greatest hits but with 1 extra song. My point is if there is an extensive back catalogue to work from a greatest hits i guess can still sell very well. On the other hand those artists that release 3 studio albums then a greatest hits will never sell in big numbers. Very true. Too many GH albums consist of the hits (and sometimes a few misses as well) from three albums plus one or two new tracks which are not available on any other album. The GH sets that sell in large numbers sell to people who don't own all the albums - often because they haven't been fans for the whole of the act's career.
March 1, 201213 yr I think you misunderstood - what I meant was another million on what it has now ie. eventually it will sell 5 million, and this will be boosted by her next album but not completely because of it. It looks like I did. Apologies.
March 1, 201213 yr If we remove 'Greatest Hits' Albums then '21' is the 6th Best Selling Studio Album, in the UK. If we make a Top 10 based on 'Hits' Albums only, then Queen, (1st - Greatest Hits (One), & 3rd - Greatest Hits II), & ABBA, (2nd - 'Gold', & 'Greatest Hits' - 7th), are the only 2 Acts, with 2 Albums, in that Top 10. 'Waterloo', 'SOS', 'Mamma Mia', & 'Fernando', are on both of those ABBA Albums, so with their Sales on those, & on Singles Disk, & on other ABBA Albums, those 4 Tracks must be the biggest selling Songs in UK Chart History. (Not to mention their Sales on Various Artists Compilations). Abba released very few of their tracks to other compilations, with the exception of "Chiquitita". "Waterloo" may well be on some Eurovision compilations, but i don't think "SOS" or "Fernando" will have added very much. I'd expect the total for "Bohemian Rhapsody" to be up there, single sales and compilation sales included.
March 1, 201213 yr Shame Madonna and warner decided to delete the Immaculate Collection once all current stock has sold. TIC should not of been deleted really but as when another greatest hits collection is released i guess they wanted sales for the updated greatest hits collection not one that is over 20 years old. I am sure i saw it in HMV the other day Sales may take her back in the all time top 10 depends how far behinde she is from No 10
March 1, 201213 yr If Adele were to die before album number 3, surely that would kill off any chance she'd have of hitting the top spots.
March 1, 201213 yr If Adele were to die before album number 3, surely that would kill off any chance she'd have of hitting the top spots. what is it with dying pop stars and buzzjack at the moment !
March 1, 201213 yr If Adele were to die before album number 3, surely that would kill off any chance she'd have of hitting the top spots. Surely that would secure her a top 2 place with 21? (and I KNOW this is a morbid and tragic subject, but I'm only referring to it in terms of charts!) Edited March 1, 201213 yr by C.W

"Waterloo" may well be on some Eurovision compilations, but i don't think "SOS" or "Fernando" will have added very much. I'd expect the total for "Bohemian Rhapsody" to be up there, single sales and compilation sales included. Indeed. It was on Now 21 which would add another million or so , Greatest Hits of 1992 and probably many many rock compilations.
March 1, 201213 yr 'Dancing Queen', & 'Bohemian Rhapsody', are likely the UK's Best Selling Tracks. 'Dancing Queen' sold over 1,000,000 as a Single, 1,650,000 on 'Arrival', over a Million on 'Greatest Hits Vol.2', 700,000 on 'The Singles', almost 5 Million on 'Gold', around 900,000 to 1 Million on 'Now 23'. (1992). Plus, it has been on other ABBA Compilations - 230,000+ on 'The Definitive Collection', 160,000+ on 'Number Ones', 200,000+ on the Budget ABBA Album, 'The Collection', in the 1980's, (BPI Award given in 1990), & it has been on many Various Artist Compilations, too - including 'Now That's What I Call A Wedding', a No.4 Compilation in 2011. (And as a Song, it has also sold over 1,400,000 on the 'Mamma Mia!' Soundtrack, in 2008 to now, & 400,000+ UK Sales on the Original Cast Recording). I reckon that 'Bohemian Rhapsody', & 'Dancing Queen', are the only 2 Tracks to sell a cumulative 10 Million+ each, in the UK. Edited March 2, 201213 yr by zeus555
