March 8, 201213 yr Here's something to complement this thread - a graph of '21''s sales & positions : http://www.vidcapper.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Adele21.gif Regards, Nice graph :)
March 8, 201213 yr Author Nice graph :) It's a shame for the health of the album market, that there aren't any others even half as good...
March 8, 201213 yr Meant to ask - are there any other singles/albums you'd like to see a graph like this for? Michael Bublé's Christmas? :P
March 8, 201213 yr Author Michael Bublé's Christmas? :P I think it'd look a bit like a heartbeat on an EEG...
March 8, 201213 yr Meant to ask - are there any other singles/albums you'd like to see a graph like this for? GaGa's the fame should be good, also GGGB by Rihanna or Kings of Leon only by the night (though that may go back too far), Take That's Ultimate Collection (or any of their recent set really) I think it'd look a bit like a heartbeat on an EEG... I think you mean ECG (EKG for the Americans) - heartbeat wouldn't show up as much on EEG (brainwaves)! Seriously though, Buble's Crazy Love would be another great candidate!
March 8, 201213 yr Meant to ask - are there any other singles/albums you'd like to see a graph like this for? If you've got the figures any of the other massive sellers would be interesting just to see the contrast with 21.
March 9, 201213 yr Author GaGa's the fame should be good, also GGGB by Rihanna or Kings of Leon only by the night (though that may go back too far), Take That's Ultimate Collection (or any of their recent set really) Seriously though, Buble's Crazy Love would be another great candidate! Take That might be a problem - their albums tend to switch between budget & full-price charts. KOL's-OBTN has also recently switched to budget. If you've got the figures any of the other massive sellers would be interesting just to see the contrast with 21. Lady Gaga or RiRi or Buble might be interesting.
May 3, 201213 yr The 21st century record for weeks in the top 10 is 72 weeks, held by both 'The Fame' and 'Back To Black' (the latter including weeks in the top 10 by both versions, so there's one 'duplicate' week where both were top 10 at the same time). Adele could well beat that before dropping out for the first time. It would achieve that on the 17th of June (15 weeks from yesterday). Still looks fairly likely to do this - #5 on the current midweek update heading into its 67th week. (As zeus pointed out 'Back To Black' has another top 10 week as half of a double album with 'Frank' so to truly get the record before dropping out '21' will have to hold on until at least 24/6). May 4, 201213 yr I predicted April, so was wrong, BUT it did had its lowest weekly sales by the end of April :D
June 11, 201213 yr Shouldn't that be 25? Ha ha, it was definitely 17 when I went and dug up this thread again. I see now 10 more people have taken the time since 21 charted at 12 yesterday to 'predict' it will drop from the top 10 in June
June 11, 201213 yr I think it will end up at #11 or #12 one week, perhaps on a week where there's a few new entries in the Top 10, and then return to the Top 10 for ages after that week. Not sure which month that'll happen in, though. So I got the first bit right, as it fell to #12, but instead of being pushed out by new entries, it got pushed out by 2 albums which re-entered the Top 10 because of the Jubilee, 1 album which re-entered the Top 10 because they are currently touring, and another album because it's been re-released(?) Let's see if it will return to the Top 10 this week for another year! :P
