Almost two thirds of that list are songs from 2009 to 2011! Shows how big Gaga, Rihanna and Adele have been in recent years.

 

Huge gap from Kylie (September 2001) to Leona (December 2006) too, although that's probably more a case of lower sales than any particular male domination. Had sales been higher in the mid-2000s I think we'd see the likes of 'Crazy In Love', 'Toxic' and 'Don't Cha' up there.

3 out of 20 for Adele! Who'd have thought when Make You Feel My Love initially crawled to #26 then disappeared without trace that it'd be in the position it's now in as the 19th highest selling song of the 21st century by a female act? Maybe there's still hope for Rumour Has It :kink:

Don't like much from the list. My favourite female songs all come from around 2003-2008 when songs were amazing but sales were dire.

It also suggests my trickle-sale estimates for FFTL have been too low, as I only had it on 965k to y/e 2011. Possibly as much as 250/wk low. :o

Quite a few of the songs in the list are great tracks but what really takes the piss is Alexandra Burke with hallelujah at no2, a dreary, dull, uninspiring cover version piece of tripe.

Couple look suspect there though, maybe a little out of date? I think the GaGa forum had a last figure of 927k (from memory) for just dance and VC estimated 966-968k ish for bad romance. Also 990k seems very high for Cheryl Cole, though if right she should pass the million pretty soon actually probably this year?

Also, from the above the 4 Rihanna singles don't total 4.4mil (as stated in the OCC article), but from my knowledge of their previous sales this would be far too high.... :huh:

Cheryl's FFTL just under a million, which is the same story for her debut album. Kind of unlucky. :lol: Oh well, they'll probably both pass a million eventually.
