Ooh, yes @ If You Wanna finally going top 40 please.

(They have already had a top 40 hit though Umi - Post Break-Up Sex got to #32).

Thinking about it, all those songs with cover versions charting, I could see shooting into the top 10 if they were released right now. It would be funny if they were released right now. Gotye would probably be out of the top 10 by tommorrow.

They would sell quite alot because people like ourselves who are into music would buy them but the passive buyer wont purchase them for another month until radio play buiilds up more likely! :(

I know it's happened before but "If You Wanna" 59p, NOW. It really should have been the "Yellow" to "Post Break Up Sex"'s "Shiver", I really can't fathom how it didn't smash.

In other news, You Me At Six back up to #23 so any more upward movement and they're looking at climbing officially as well. What the buggery?

In other other news, Lostprophets stalling at #108. I'd imagine they'll climb into the top 100 officially next week with the album out.

JLS  #18 and falling very fast  What a complete non-event of a song!

Sean Paul is up to around 0.6 of Chris Brown! Could this potentially get #1 next week? :o

I think next weeks number one is between Nicki Minaj & Chris Brown, Chris Brown is actually starting to fall fast and I hope Sean Paul reduces the gap to around 30% tonight.

20. Swedish House Mafia 'Greyhound'

21. LMFAO 'Sexy and I Know It'

^ Swedish House Mafia holding up really well at the moment - a 13-17 chart run for an instrumental OA/OS track is pretty impressive, hoping it can fall gracefully from the top 40 in the coming weeks, unlike their past singles which seem to have just fallen pretty quickly (e.g. 'Save the World'). I'm also cheering at anything managing to knock LMFAO down a few places - the sooner 'Sexy and I Know It' drops out of the top 20, the better.

33. Olly Murs 'Oh My Goodness' :left:

35. Jessie J 'Mamma Knows Best'

36. The Vaccines 'If You Wanna' :left:

37. will.i.am 'T.H.E. (The Hardest Ever) [feat. Jennifer Lopez + Mick Jagger]

^ Hoping somehow that all four of these are in the top 40 come Sunday - but somehow I see Olly Murs at #39 and will.i.am re-entering at #40; Maroon 5, Olly Murs [DWMT] and Rihanna will no doubt manage to hold on to another week in the top 40.

Question: Wasn't 'Boyfriend' by Justin Bieber supposed to be released today? Stupid strategy if not, it's #1 on US, Canadian and Australian iTunes to name a few - will probably debut low in the top 5 now, if they delay it a month or two.

I knew 'Oh My Goodness' was a bad single choice. Absolutely no idea why he didn't release 'In Case You Didn't Know' (the track) when that could easily have been a big top ten hit. OMG is such a bland choice. Why he chose OMG (and Heart On My Sleeve and Busy) as singles when there's much better album tracks is beyond me. Never mind the fact that all three had such cheap videos, they were never going to smash were they?

So now after two Platinum selling singles (i'm sure both HSAB and DWMT will get there this year), he's looking for a #38 type peak for the third single. Brilliant.

I think a lot of artists suffer from that problem though - I mean Example had 01-01-37-30 on his singles from 'Playing in the Shadows' and Nero had 15-08-01-32-92. It's just a case of people generally invest more effort and money into the singles leading up to the album, which for Olly Murs has worked - the album has done extremely well already and I'm sure is due to be certified 2 x Platinum soon.

As for the single choice, I agree that 'Oh My Goodness' isn't the best choice - but it's radio friendly, much like 'Heart On My Sleeve' and 'Busy'. 'Busy' for me is his best release to date, such a shame it's success is limited to #45 and a feature on the Marks & Spencer advert.

Is the UK the only country that hasn't fully adopted oa/os? What other countries delay songs for months before releasing?

I'm not sure the OA/OS approach would work in the UK. Radio stations are too picky with what they play. 'Notorious' by The Saturdays barely got any plays, arguably because it started to free fall down the charts. It's alright with big names getting high peaks on release week, but for long term sales unless radio actually support the track after the initial drop then there's no way OA/OS will work.

All other countries that I know of do on air, on sale with nearly everything.

I think The Saturdays can do well without holding back their song, and Ego, Higher and Issues demonstrate that, but they came after the album release, so couldn't debut high on release week, therefore couldn't freefall straight-away.
