March 22, 201214 yr  Yeah, only slightly!! I was comparing JLS now to Elton John early on in his career when he had had a few big hits but still flopped now and again, missing the T10/T20 or even T40...
March 22, 201214 yr imo its still a completely different comparison because elton john was never a pop act in the strict sense of the word who had to get to no1 or he would be dropped (although most acts have to have SOME type of success at some stage) unlike jls who are a modern pop act who MUST have top 10 hits at the very least!

But Marvin's still hot, though.
March 23, 201214 yr Author Midweek Charts update: Norton aids Guetta sales lift Source: MW 10:38 | Friday March 23, 2012 By Paul Williams David Guetta’s weekly album sales have more than doubled on the back of his appearance on Graham Norton’s BBC One chat show as he chases the market’s early leaders Paul Weller and Military Wives. The French DJ’s Positiva/Virgin album Nothing But The Beat is the week to date’s third biggest artist album, according to Official Charts Company Data, having been in ninth place on last Sunday’s chart. Its sales are up 104% on the week and by the end of business on Thursday it was just two hundred sales behind Decca’s Military Wives album In My Dreams in second place as Paul Weller’s newly-issued Island set Sonik Kicks sat at one around 5,500 sales further ahead. Guetta performed Titanium on Norton’s show last Friday and its sales are also benefiting as a result, up 24% on the week, although it still drops 6-7 on the midweek rankings as there are four brand new entries ahead of it. Virgin act Emeli Sande’s Our Version Of Events is placed fourth in the latest midweeks, having been runner-up on last weekend’s chart, while Adele’s second XL set 21 drops 3-5. Three of the singles market’s top four sellers are new releases, the biggest being Virgin act Katy Perry’s Part Of Me whose sales have also been helped by BBC One exposure as she performed the track on last Saturday’s final of Let’s Dance For Sport Relief. It had sold 60,000 copies up to the end of Thursday, 10,000 ahead of Sean Paul’s brand new Atlantic single She Doesn’t Mind in second place, while Gotye featuring Kimbra’s Island-issued Somebody That I Used To Know is down to three having spent a fifth non-consecutive week at number one last Sunday. Labrinth’s new Syco single Last Time is showing up as a new entry at four, while Cash Money/Island’s Nicki Minaj drops 2-5 with Starships. This is just ahead of JLS’s newly-released RCA single Proud, which is new at six. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Katy Perry (60k) 2 Sean Paul (50K) 3 Gotye/Kimbra 4 Labrinth 5 Nicki Minaj Top 10 6 JLS Top 15 Jason Mraz Top 20 19 You Me At Six Top 30 28 Florence + The Machine Top 40 Angel/Wretch 32 Tyga ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albums 1 Paul Weller (5,5k ahead) 2 Military Wives 3 David Guetta 4 Emeli Sande 5 Adele Top 10 9 Coldplay Shins Top 20 Bruno Mars Justin Fletcher Black Keys Top 30 Miike Snow LMFAO One Direction Top 40 Odd Future Katy Perry Faithless 40 Madonna [Celebration] NO SALES INFO ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ARTIST UPDATES Singles Alexandra 10+1 Jessie J 10+5 Kelly C 10+10 Marcus 11+11 Swedish House Mafia 10+7 Rihanna [TTT] 20+9 Rihanna [WFL] 30+6 Albums Lana 3+3 Marcus 7+7 Katie M 10+6 Adele [19] 10+8 Noel Gallagher 20+7 Will Young 20+8 Rihanna [TTT] 30+1 Rebecca F 30+5 Kelly C 30+7 Katy Perry 30+8
March 23, 201214 yr Author Katy has got the #1 in the bag this week, JLS could get a top 5 entry, their physicals is keeping the track at #6 at the moment, not sure how much of a boost they get tonight, I think Katy Perry is also performing on the show
March 23, 201214 yr Weller 5.5k ahead so the Military Wives have only closed the gap by 1.5k, excellent. Even if they do catch him Guetta's bound to overtake them anyway :D
March 23, 201214 yr Sales as i expected katy should end up with around 75k although the appearence tonight should boost it along with the video well into next week, gotye should end up with 60k at 3, not bad!!jls cd sales must be 5-10k then!

March 23, 201214 yr I think Paul Weller is fairly set for the #1 album now, not bad after his last album peaked at #2 with a top 40 hit leading it while 'That Dangerous Age' only made #66. Although I don't think 'Sonik Kicks' is likely to outdo the opening sales of 'Wake Up The Nation'? Shame to see Labrinth down to #4 but it was obviously going to happen, I hope it can stay there but I could see Nicki overtaking as well. I can't believe Sean Paul is looking like actually holding #2, I was absolutely certain Gotye would overtake him within days but Sean is still well ahead on iTunes - 'She Doesn't Mind' will equal his previous best as the lead artist :o Did NOT see that coming at all and I was one of the more generous predicters of it! 'The Swarm' currently set to be You Me At Six's highest peaking hit - it could easily drop 3+ places by Sunday but I sort of hope to see it staying top 20 just for the sheer oddness of it coming out of nowhere and outdoing everything they've done before. Shake It Out should definitely be safe for a top 40 re-entry then, hope it can stay top 30. Great to see Tyga actually climbing, I thought it'd drop straight out this week. And yay for Adele set to have another week top 5 with '21' and top 20 with '19' :kink: 'Mylo Xyloto' back in the top 10 as well, having far better longevity than 'Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends' so far! Where are 'Niggas In Paris' and 'Watch The Throne' today? Edited March 23, 201214 yr by Bréyhound

March 23, 201214 yr Olly Murs is not top 40 :o Yeah, it's a bit of a surprise. I think it'll make top 40 officially on Sunday anyway (and if not this week, next week), but it's all good anyway, since Rack City is climbing!!!!!!! :w00t: :cheer: Edited March 23, 201214 yr by Eric_Blob
March 23, 201214 yr 31 +7 Thanks. :) I hope it doesn't fall out by Sunday. A song getting top 40 off so little proper promotion is remarkable to witness.
March 24, 201214 yr I wish Kelly's album was doing a bit better. I want that Platinum cert for Stonger!
