But then you could say that about Jessie J's 'Price Tag' and Alexandra Burke's 'Bad Boys' and 'Start Without You'. Fair enough I believe that 'Hot Right Now' shouldn't be classed as Rita's song therefore doesn't qualify to be one of her solo number ones, but 'RIP' is very much her song and she is the lead artist, so i think just because she has a rapper featured on the track doesn't mean it's not a solo number one.

4 number ones as a named individual, but not 4 solo number ones

Exactly, that's what i'm saying. The OCC is saying she's tied with Halliwells record, but she hasn't. I'm not taking the credit away from her, i'm just saying they're not solo #1s!

I'm more concerned that the UK has actually given Rita Ora 4 no.1s. RIP talent.

She has tied the record of being the UK female solo artist with the most #1 singles, the record does not stipulate that those #1 singles have to be credited solely to said artists :P

But that's not what the record was about. I'm sure Melanie C has the most #1 singles by a UK female as she has appeared on 12 #1 singles.

She will get another one in a few months when she releases another pre-order per album single and break the record..

That is the exact reason that the 'solo' distinction is made... Rita has matched the record for most #1 singles for a British female solo artist, not including #1s as part of a group. And a collaboration does not count as a group. They may have worded the record clumsily but that is what they are referring to.

U.k has a lot of beautiful voices (Leona, Adele, Emeli) but it seems that two average artists (Geri and Rita) hold this record... :drama:

I like their songs though..

I don't understand why everyone's arguing. The OCC says that features do count as a number 1 for the respective artist. As someone mentioned earlier, the OCC has said that Rihanna has OFFICIALLY got the record of highest number of number 1s in consecutive years, which has to include Run This Town and The Monster which are songs that she is not the lead artist on but nevertheless features on.

In the same way, Rita Ora OFFICIALLY has tied with Geri Halliwell with the highest number of number 1s for a female UK solo artist, because again, features count for the artist's tally.

If you disagree with what the OCC has to say then fair enough, go ahead and disagree. But OFFICIALLY, Rita Ora has done it. Deal with it.

You can't count 'Hot right now' as a Rita Ora song in the same way that u can't count 'Stan' as a Dido number 1 or 'We found love' as a Calvin Harris number 1... Hot right now is in no way a solo number 1 for Rita Ora...

The OCC are making a false statement when they counted 'Hot right now' as a Rita Ora solo single the same way they considered that Calvin Harris broke Micheal Jackson's record for most top 10s from 1 album while 4 of Calvin Harris' number ones were released before the album and almost all 8 of them are collaborations....

DJ Fresh - Hot Right Now (feat. Rita Ora)

She is on the track. Not as part of a group, but as herself. That's what they mean by "solo artist". They aren't making ANY kind of "false statement", you're just using a totally different definition of "solo" with regards to this.

But they're not solo #1s! So no-one has yet achieved what Geri achieved.

I agree.

IMO, a solo #1 only counts as such when you are the *only* credited artist on a song!

but it seems that two average artists (Geri and Rita) hold this record... :drama:

Geri is not average.

If don't count 50s, 60s, 70s there is only 1 British female singer in last 30-35 years, which can be more deserved record holder, than Geri. It's Dido.

You have to admit it is kind of horrific that Halliwell and Rita have this record :(

THIS! PREACH!!! :cheer:

Im going to say it even without HRN Rita was going to smash this record anyway, with IWNLYD going to # 1 she is bound to get 2 more #1 songs. People just need to Deal with the fact Rita is VERY successful in the UK and is going to make British Music History!

SO WHAT! They were OFF CALVIN'S ALBUM! There for they count as Calvin Harris songs. People get with the programme, Featured songs with solo artists on them now count as a #1 for both/all artists!

But how small a contribution to a song should be sufficient for full credit?

That's a question that should be clarified : One verse? One line?? One word???

it's a DJ Fresh track, not a Rita Ora track, if it was another unknown female vocalist,

it would have gone to number 1 too.... it's a DJ Fresh song which features guest vocalist Rita Ora, therefore should not be counted as a solo Rita Ora track....
