I think We Are You Young might actually miss number one, it's no doubt lost around 10,000+ Sales.

Could Prima Donna by Marina challenge for number 1 next week? Personally, I think it's a good song but I don't know whether many else do.
Whilst I completely agree that songs get held back far too long and it does effect things, I now don't think T.H.E, Rockstar would have been #1s anyway. Of course most of the songs I've mentioned will likely be extremely front loaded, I can see Rita Ora going 100k + week one. I think Tulisa will do very well as well (you only need to see her youtube views so far). Plus some songs have been held back 6-8 weeks and still got to #1 (i.e. Hot Right now) which I heard back in December!

We never know though, maybe We Are Young will be frontloaded. I know it'll be massive, but it's possible to be massive and frontloaded (e.g. California Gurls, etc.).

I wish people weren't so quick to judge Justin Bieber, just because it's Justin Bieber. 'Boyfriend' is a fantastic song and deserves to do well! I'm definitely team Justin this week! I just think people shouldn't judge just because it's his song and should give the song a listen before they have any right to judge. I could have guessed this would be the reaction from people before 'Boyfriend' even premiered.

TOTALLY this.

I am actually usually a Bieber 'hater' but the thing that REALLY gets me is how incapable people are of objectivity because it's him, if it was Justin Timberlake singing it everyone would be like 'OMG I HOPE IT GETS NUMBER 1!!!1!! :w00t:  ' but because it's Bieber it's just automatic hate. I'm not going to pretend I'm his biggest fan but imo the song is really really good and deserves no.1 this week.

California Gurls wasn't frontloaded. It had a 'good' chart run but it was a consistant seller and is over 700K now.

If I was to think of a massive, frontloaded song i'd probably stuff like We R Who We R, She Makes Me Wanna, Don't Wanna Go Home, Turn Up The Music, No Regrets, Read All About It etc

Or maybe people just still don't like the song? It's going to get very annoying very quickly if people are going to dismiss anyone who still doesn't like Bieber as a blind hater who judges it on the artist alone.

-x-

On an unrelated note, I just listened to 'Mercy'. Not gonna lie, I'm a bit disappointed with it. Very average until 3:20, pretty good from that point onwards. Maybe it'll be a grower.

This! I don't like him at all but this song is a great pop song and x10 better than CMM song and less childish.

I wouldn't say Read All About It is frontloaded. She Makes Me Wanna wasn't really that frontloaded either, the rest are.

Well it's not really people on here (I know you have listened to it, I remember you posting it) but there are far too many people I've seen who won't even listen to it and are judging it just on him. If you have listened and don't like it fair enough but I stand by my point.

I think California Gurls was frontloaded. I can't remember exactly, but I think it went like 123,000, then 95,000 the next week, then 70,000 the week after, and so on.

I wouldn't say Read All About It is frontloaded. She Makes Me Wanna wasn't really that frontloaded either, the rest are.

She Makes Me Wanna spent longer at #1 on iTunes than California Gurls.

As in the "Read All About It" that sold 153k in week one and has added less than double that since?

I wouldn't say Read All About It is frontloaded.

Read All About It was massively frontloaded. It had one of the highest opening week figures of any song in 2011, yet only just scrapped the EOY top 40, with sales of just over 400,000.

At least I can honestly claim it's not *just* because it's Bieber, that I don't like the song... ;)

That didn't hurt Carly too much...

I'd love to see it be #1, but that's because I'm a big Marina fan, rather than specifically due to the song.

+1

We are allowed to dislike Boyfriend are we not? In general, I get more annoyed by those who constantly complain that everyone's so closed minded because its this singer when in reality, I don't think many people on here are like that and will openly listen to songs to form an opinion - I have heard the song and its extremely average and not a song I'd like to see at number 1

surprised Climax is climbing quite slowly, I hope it can still get top 5 :(

:yahoo:

Bieber No.2 so far

I hope it doesnt do what Mistletoe did and drop massively in the second half of the week :(

Bieber for No.1 :cheer:

BTW in case anyone was wondering, Bieber's 'Baby' at ~402.5k (to 6/8/11) is by far his highest-selling UK song, so far...

Read All About It was massively frontloaded. It had one of the highest opening week figures of any song in 2011, yet only just scrapped the EOY top 40, with sales of just over 400,000.

Still though, the song itself passed over 400,000 which is an achivement tbh.

 18. Climax - Usher

 22. Level Up (Radio Edit) - Sway

 66. Blackout - Breathe Carolina

I really hope Sway can keep going and go top 10, it'd be quite sad if the top 10 is completely lacking in Brits for the first time ever.

Bieber still at #2. I really hope he's stalled now. Kworb is no help.

It sold a good 35% of its sales in its first week though, which is ridiculously frontloaded...
