Posted May 4, 201213 yr I've been listening to alot recently from 90's to early 00's but what are your favourites?! Here are some of mine; LlZydtG3xqI ASxLL__LAVE wZ9HG0nGe-g y-gz-yddE6Q LfRNRymrv9k ! Used to be so good. I love the down tempo feel to them. Can anyone share their favourites?
May 4, 201213 yr Is it true, TLC are to do a tour with a hologram thing of Lisa? Someone at work told me. I am unsure as to whether or not I believe them
May 4, 201213 yr Author Is "Don't Walk Away" that one that Javine covered? Loving TLC and Shanice <3 Yes it is. The original is infinetly better (love Javine though! Ha). And yeah I heard about that Jonjo, I think it's just for the US. Would be v.weird to see, but not gonna lie, I think I might go if they came to the UK. 'Creep', 'Unpretty', 'No Scrubs' and 'Waterfalls' are all amazing pieces of R&B .
May 4, 201213 yr The hologram thing could be true. I watched a hologram Tupac perform on Youtube a few weeks ago! Was so weird, but it was amazing.
May 4, 201213 yr Brandy is the ultimate, I've been reliving her for the past week or so and The Boy Is Mine is quite probably the best R&B song ever! What About Us is essential as well. I have random moments though where I'll just spend a couple of hours listening to Brandy, TLC, Mary J Blige etc. every now and then
May 4, 201213 yr I have random moments though where I'll just spend a couple of hours listening to Brandy, TLC, Mary J Blige etc. every now and then  Me too. Not with those specific artists necessarily, but I find myself listening to one song, then I think of another song I used to like and listen to that, then I think "Oh that sounds like this song", and then I listen to that, then I want to listen to the artist's next single, then there's a remix of the song I want to listen to, and on and on and on. I get carried away and go for hours!
May 5, 201213 yr I'm obsessed with Mary Mary 'Shackles (Praise You)' at the moment ! I keep requesting it in clubs.
May 5, 201213 yr I'm obsessed with Mary Mary 'Shackles (Praise You)' at the moment ! I keep requesting it in clubs. I used to be obsessed with this song back in the day. I clearly didn't understand it or listen to the lyrics very closely though, as I was very surprised to find out they did Christian music
May 5, 201213 yr Shackles (Praise You) is one of those songs I always forget exists and then it gets mentioned and I'm like 'OH GOD I LOVE THAT SONG' and have to listen to it, like I have it on right now  They had another good song a couple of years ago I randomly found called Something Big, sort of along the same lines as Shackles (Praise You).
May 5, 201213 yr 'Shackles' is an absolute tune. How has nobody mentioned Aaliyah in this thread. The QUEEN of older RnB I'd argue: N6zP7nnp-5I 0zN_i4VURX0 GuWMW7hVdTs And the obvious hit singlez. So so good. Timbaland's best work.
May 5, 201213 yr YES JAKE. 'We Need A Resolution' is probably one of the finest R&B moments. I also still adore Macy Gray.! 'I Try' is such a stunning song, I love her voice so much.
May 5, 201213 yr Author I was gonna say Aaliyah. 'Try Again' is seriously amazing as is 'Rock The Boat'. And not really THAT old school but I'm obsessed with Mis-Teeq's 'One Night Stand' at the moment, I even somehow miraculously got it played in a club last night !
May 5, 201213 yr Yes, Family Affair and Try Again are AMAZING! Then again, you all know how much I like Dr. Dre and Timabaland. Try Again is more electropop though. And I used to love this when I was young. Thank God I Found You by Mariah Carey, Joe and Nas. It samples Make it Last Forever. A lot of people hate this song because it's basically a "remix", that sounds COMPETELY different to the original (which was a pop-ballad duet with a boy band), but they got combined in the charts because they had the same title, and it/they got to #1. She even made a seperate music video for both (versions) of the song(s). It's so beautiful. nsTkv6HCiQU Edited May 5, 201213 yr by Eric_Blob

May 21, 201213 yr Most of the 90s R&B is great, as well as the hip-hop during that time. I love Missy Elliott, ''Queen Bitch'' (Hard Core ) , Biggie, Ginuwine, Aaliyah, Nas etc. I'm still amazed at how Timbaland managed to last for so long as a producer. Started out in the 90s for a few of the aforementioned artists and rose to popularity again in 2006 after Nelly Furtado and Justin Timberlake collaborated with him. Maybe in a few years he'll have his third uprise. Edited May 21, 201213 yr by Atonement
May 21, 201213 yr ^Those songs are amazing!! I've been listening to Breathe a lot lately actually. It's a bit worrying if they're considered "old school" though. I was in senior school when they were popular. :( Most of the 90s R&B is great, as well as the hip-hop during that time. Maybe in a few years he'll have his third uprise. I really do hope Timbaland can get popular again. He released a new song with Dev recently, but it's flopping in the US. :( He and Keri Hilson made the original version to Don't Hold You Breath by Nicole Scherzinger, which got to #1 last year, so they still have the hit-making potential, they just need some more under their own names now. In the 90's he had a lot to do with the fusing of RnB and hip hop in mainstream music, and in he was popular in the late 00's he had a lot to do with the fusing of urban and dance. I think it's obvious to most people that we're seeing another musical shift at the moment, so maybe it's time for him to blow up again. Edited May 21, 201213 yr by Eric_Blob
