I think it will, for the last 2 years we've had a massive selling song in the latter half of the year miss #1

2010 - Eminem feat. Rihanna "Love The Way You Lie"

2011 - Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguleria "Moves Like Jagger"

2012 - ????

I'd personally love it if The Script, will.i.am and Jessie J did a song together  However, no Tom Jones please

The highest-selling #2s in each year:

2000 - Baha Men - Who Let the Dogs Out?

2001 - Wheatus - Teenage Dirtbag

2002 - Shakira - Whenever, Wherever

2003 - The Darkness - Christmas Time

2004 - Kelis - Milkshake (Left Outside Alone sold more but peaked at #3)

2005 - Daniel Powter - Bad Day

2006 - Infernal - From Paris to Berlin

2007 - Take That - Rule the World

2008 - Nickelback - Rockstar

2009 - La Roux - In For the Kill

2010 - Eminem - Love the Way You Lie

2011 - Maroon 5 - Moves Like Jagger

2012 (so far) - Emeli Sande - Next to Me (Wild Ones sold more so far but peaked at #4)

And in the US:

2000 - Faith Hill - Breathe - This was the year-end #1!!!!! And coincidentally Faith Hill currently has a song at #61 on UK iTunes

2001 - Lifehouse - Hanging by a Moment - This was ALSO the year-end #1, so those who think the UK are bad with massive hits missing #1...

2002 - Linkin Park - In the End (Wherever You Will Go and A Thousand Miles were bigger hits, but both peaked at #5 :o)

2003 - R Kelly - Ignition

2004 - Maroon 5 - This Love (If I Ain't Got You by Alicia Keys was a bigger hit but peaked at #4)

2005 - Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone

2006 - Gnarls Barkley - Crazy (Unwritten was a bigger hit but peaked at #5!)

2007 - Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape

2008 - Timbaland - Apologize

2009 - Kanye West - Heartless (Love Story and I'm Yours were bigger hits, but peaked at #4 and #6 respectively)

2010 - Lady Antebellum - Need You Now

2011 - Cee-Lo Green - Forget You

I saw Starboy Nathan while i was walking through Leicester Square a few days ago. Also there was a time that i saw Reggie Yates in Tottenham Court Road.

Wow. I bet Starboy Nathan had loads of girls chasing after him.

I'm guessing from the lack of youtube hits no one really knows about it yet...

This will probably go Top40 won't it? Sounds horrible really. Don't forgot Terry Venables 'If I Can Dream' went Top30 in the World Cup 2010 didn't it?

I expect 3 Lions and World In Motion to go Top40 at least and Vindaloo.

I was just going to say the football songs didn't re-enter at Euro 2008 but I just found out England didn't qualify for that - shows how little attention I pay to football :P

I do like 'Three Lions' (as much as I hated the prospect of yet another new version being made for 2012) so I hope it re-enters the top 20 again. Also to see BuzzJack melting down etc. :kink:

It probably wouldn't be much different to the Buzzjack meltdowns we get every time a song (that isn't female vocals, electropop or Radio 2/Heart FM friendly) debuts in the top 10 anyway.

If England win Euro 2012 the Itunes top 2 would be:

1. Baddiel and Skinner - 3 Lions

2. New Order - World In Motion

So the Lightning Seeds have been airbrushed from history?

I've just heard the new Paloma Faith song and it's... SOOOO GOOD. The best from next week of course... with TV I'm hoping she can make it to top 10 at least!

I quite the new Jubilee song, though quite surprised Gary Barlow doesn't sing on it. It wouldn't surprise me if it did reach the top though, seems quite a dead week on releases (apart from Alexandra but she won't hit #1).

Is the Voice winner releasing a winner single? If so, that could reach the top in early June. I'd say Cheryl is a certain chart topper. I wouldn't rule out Whistle by Flo Rida either, its already been #1 in NZ and Australia and is currently #1 on itunes in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, its gonna be big IMO.

Flo Rida also has a new song with Jennifer Lopez aswell I think, apparently coming out next week (although probably like July for the UK)!! Since it's Flo Rida, I'm not particularly excited though. It's probably just the same song as he always does. I'll be more excited if I hear she's doing a song with Ja Rule, LL Cool J or Fat Joe again.

Rihanna  #5

Erm was it ever #4? I never saw it that high myself or I must have missed some updates :o

Rudimental is likely to be big that week. Is Alexandra releasing already? 'Let It Go' probably heading for a big flop I think.

It was #4 for quite a while.

Not another whistle track, this could get annoying as hell, I remember another Whistle track a few years back it was quite annoying.

2009 - La Roux - In For the Kill

Oh I always forget about this! I would definetely rank it alongside MLJ and LTWYL myself.

Yeah. That was such a massive hit. It was blocked from #1 by two other massive hits (Calvin Harris and Tinchy Stryder/N-Dubz). Another massive-selling #2 from that time period is Use Somebody, but that had its sales split between 2 years. That was also blocked from #1 by a massive hit (Leona Lewis - Run).

Infact, looking at those lists, every year had a massive hit that didn't reach #1 tbh.

Looks like we can add We Are Young to that list soon, as I'd expected :(

Let's hope so.

I think some of us just need to get over the fact that not every big hit will get to #1. It's always going to happen. It happens in every country in the world. Nothing we can do about it.

Who knows though, We Are Young maybe might get #1 the week after The Wanted. Surely it'll have enough longevity to be in with a chance?
