For his first three albums, Ne-Yo steadily improved on each era, peaking with 'The Year of the Gentleman'. Then we had 'Libra Scale', which was terrible! But since then, his features have been nothing short of absolutely brilliant. ('Give Me Everything', 'Think Like A Man' & of course, the monster smash waiting to happen 'Let's Go'!) I'm personally holding out hope that he gives us a dance album in the vein of the GME and/or LG. But from the sound of 'Burning Up' he's going to give us some more of the GOOD, smooth RnB, Ne-Yo.

He's always cited Michael Jackson as one of his influences, but you can definitely tell with this song. Sounds like a more up to date version and a steady mix of 'Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'/'Wanna Be Startin' Something', imo.

Can't wait for this album now!

That's actually quite good! Definitely a huge improvement on "Beautiful Monster" - I never bothered with the rest of Libra Scale to compare it to though. I doubt he'll ever beat "Closer", "Miss Independent" and "Mad" though: such a perfect trio of singles.

The album's called The Cracks in Mr. Perfect, so I'm guessing it could be a continuation of Year of the Gentleman maybe?

Edited by THEO.

Horrible horrible album title. So arrogant and calculated. The song is also pretty weak for somebody of his status who is not just a singer but a songwriter too, but then he's not been on his game for quite a while now. Does the world really need Ne-Yo when Usher is making quality R&B again?

I think maybe you're looking into it a bit too much there.

I agree though, Ne-Yo has been quite poor recently (Give Me Everything is one of his career low-points). He writes loads of Rihanna's songs though, so he's good for something. :coffee:

I'm excited for his album though. I doubt it'll be fully RnB to be honest anyway. It'll probably have mainly RnB and a few eurodance songs to release as the singles (same with Usher's album).

Actually, maybe Ne-Yo has read your post, since his album title has been changed now apparently.

I wonder how THE GAME feels about this new title. :coffee:

Ne-Yo swagger jacks Game for the titled to his impending fifth studio album.

It looks like Ne-Yo may be treading on dangerous territory with his upcoming fifth studio album. The multi-platinum singer-songwriter revealed that he's officially changed the name of his next album from The Cracks in Mr. Perfect to The R.E.D. Album.

If the title strikes some as familiar, that's because Compton rapper Game released his long awaited fourth studio LP this past summer with the same name. But according to recent interview with Hip Hop Hollywood, Ne-Yo says that the full title of his R.E.D. Album is Realizing Every Dream.

"We changed [the title] - the new and official title is The R.E.D. Album, and 'R.E.D.' is an acronym for 'Realizing Every Dream,'" he explained. "The last couple of years, I've taken a little bit of time to step back and just look at everything that's happened in my life and everything that's going on right now, and I made the realization that I'm absolutely doing it - I'm realizing every dream that I've ever had. I'm blessed, and not a lot of people can say that. So this album is celebrating the mature dreams, the immature dreams, just every dream that I've ever had and how I am slowly, maturely realizing every single one."

I like it. (Shock horror) I do love his slow jams majority of the time. 'Part Of The List' and 'Mad' are my two favourite Ne-Yo songs for example, and this would fit quite nicely on 'The Year of the Gentleman'. It's definitely not lead single material though. Would have preferred it to have been 3rd or 4th, but it's nice enough! (Apparently this is the proper lead single.

Apprently the R.E.D album is being released on September 18th in the US

Any release date here in the UK yet?

The album leaked a couple of days. Just giving it a listen now...

'The Cracks In Mr. Perfect' is pretty crap. The lyrics are awful. But it's only the first track, so hopefully it's more LMLY as opposed to TCIMP.

Managed to get this yesterday and have to say after 2 listens im not loving it - Was expecting much better from him.

Same. It's still a hell of a lot better than 'Libra Scale'. But majority of it is just so dull, dated and flat. :( 'Let Me Love You (Until You Learn To Love Yourself)' is still a TUNE though
Haven't listened to the album yet, but I heard the next single, and it seems like a bit of a re-hash of Let Me Love You which was disappointing. From his last album we got One in a Million as 2nd single iirc, which wasn't his best song, but it was nice that it was quite different to Beautiful Monster.
