Derulo's first chart topper here is demoted thanks to a promotion (2010 gives us the most promotions yet!), it was one of the year's poorer selling No 1 hits finishing the year as the 40th biggest seller so its demotion shouldn't be a surprise.

With a long traditional of pulling of surprising duets, the BRITS 2010 managed to pull together these two and gave them a genuine midweek No 1, but it couldn't hold on. Different story here where a rapidly fading Helping Haiti allowed this to steal a week at the top.

For the first time in this thread (I believe) we have back to back weeks where promotions take place, and this time (though she hardly needs it) it's Rihanna who pips Jason Derulo to the top by just over 3k.

 

Great promotions! Both of those songs deserved #1. So did Jason Derulo but you can't have everything I guess :P

Well, I was expecting You've Got The Dirtee Love to get a promotion, but not Rihanna, I expected that to get eclipsed by Pass Out, although that week at #3 on the week In My Head was #1 would have pushed it ahead, I guess.

 

And Jason Derulo is no big loss as a #1.

 

2010 is going to be a wonderful year for this thread, hopefully, I see fun times could be ahead.

Hopefully it will, as its first week at #2 was behind Roll Deep's third and last week at #1.

 

Other songs that could possibly be #1 are Wavin' Flag, Love The Way You Lie and Your Song.

Ridin' Solo actually deserved number 1 - it is that rare thing, a good Jason DeRulo song!

2010 was a weird year for the singles chart. The tracks that made no. 1 in most cases were the true definition of a non no. 1 plummeting down the charts. Yet tracks that peaked at #2 and #3 stuck around and had much more chart longevity.

Didn't expect You Got The Dirtee Love to be promoted - it was outsold and outlasted by In My Head but its midweek release at least gave it two strong weeks.

I'm pleased Holiday kepts its #1! :o It's not as forgotten as people saying, but I wasn't expecting that. :o And I'm pleased about You Got the Dirtee Love aswell. :wub: I don't think Dirtee Disco stands much of a chance though. :lol: Maybe Shout does though.

 

In My Head is awful. I absolutely HATE those types of songs. They're the worse types of songs to me. I can't stant to listen to them, they're generic to the max. But I hope Ridin' Solo gets #1 this way. It was such a massive hit, and one of my favourite songs of the year aswell.

 

2010 has very fast-moving charts compared to now. If you look at the amount of time the biggest hits of that year spent in the top 10. 10+ weeks in the top 10 was a big achievement that year, I think only a few songs managed it, but in 2011 and 2012 it seems a bit easy to do tbh.

Dirtee Disco should've been released now rather than 2010! It has that "disco" sound to it that Moves Like Jagger and Call Me Maybe have. :lol: It was just too ahead of it's time. :cry:

 

It went 1-4-12, so it'll probably end up at like #4 or something. I don't know what will be #1 instead though. Hopefully Ridin' Solo. :wub:

An entirely predictable demotion? Probably, the far more consistant selling "OMG" triumphs here to rob Diana of her sole UK chart topper, moving 1-4-8 it didn't hang around too long for this Cathy Dennis penned debut from teh former X Factor contestant.

Stuck behind B.o.B and Jason Derulo, Dizzee's "Dirtee Disco" gets relegated all the way to No 3. Selling just under 70k to debut at No 1 on the real chart, it had an even quicker descent than Vickers moving 1-4-12 and follow up "Shout" would have lost its place too had it not been for very good first week sales.

 

No objections to any of the demotions so far for 2010! Loving the 'Rude Boy' promotion too.

Guetta's golden touch escapes him here, I suppose it's just a bit of pop karma for all the extra weeks he accumulated in 2009, but on this thread "Gettin Over You" can't make it past the world cup duo of Shout For England and K'naan to wind up at No 3. Only spending one week in the top 3 pretty much seals the fate for this one.
