Cascada wish they could summon the sort of raw emotion behind Euphoria. Just because it has club-friendly instrumentation doesn't mean the song can't have any resonance beyond that.

I'm a HUGE dance music fan, and there's many dance tracks that are incredibly emotive, moving and deserve far more credit. Loreen however, simply isn't one of them. It sounds like a cheesy Costa del Sol summer anthem. Something that might turn up on a ghastly Misery of Sound compilation. But undoubtedly the best song on the night.

Raw emotion? Ummm.......

Oh please could people stop pretending that Euphoria is the best song ever. It's not. It's not even best song of the year or best Swedish song of the year. It was the best song in Eurovision Song Contest 2012.
I would agree it is not Sweden's best entry by a long shot, and even in recent years i think they had entries that were far more worthy to win. That said, no one loves Eurovision more than Sweden, they take it seriously every single year and i am sure they will put everything they have into hosting it next year. Well done to tham and best of luck for 2013.
I still think Popular is much better than Euphoria myself, but if I could pick any country other than UK I'd love to see host Eurovision, it's Sweden, so it's all good <3

For you.

It's most definitely my favourite song this year so far, and I doubt anything will beat it between now and December.

Well it's my favourite song of the year, no pretending, just personal taste.

This post exactly. The fact it still sounds just as good as the first time I heard it well over 3 months (maybe 4 now!) ago shows to me it's one of my favourite singles of the year/since 'Knock You Down' at least! I don't get why people get so riled up about it so easily.

Oh and it's clearly the public's favourite song here in the UK as it's currently number 1 on iTunes and has been since her performance. So it's not just "the best song of Eurovision Song Contest 2012" Isn't it the most downloaded song in the whole of Europe at the moment? So it's clearly appealing to people outside of the Eurovision fanbase.

People like Euphoria more than things that you like, get over it. It's personal taste for me that Euphoria is my favourite song of 2012 (and I can prettty much definitely say it'll stay that way) and once I've given it a couple of years I can see being in my all time top 5, if not my ultimate all time fave. And that's just my personal preference, why would anybody pretend a song is better than what they actually think it is?

oh please... it's been out 5 minutes - what a nonsensical thing to say. Don't be so daft.

Some of us have known the track for a good few months now. I agree it's a little hasty to be making such declarations but after the amount of time Euphoria's been about you can have a vague idea of how much you like a track...

I did say 'once I've given it a couple of years', don't twist my words... It's my personal taste, 'daft' as it may be. I'm not saying it's there yet anyway, I have enough sense to realise it has be at least a year and a half or so before I can see how it measures up to the Before He Cheats and Wuthering Heights of the world but it's my choice of what I feel is among my all time faves, and the way I've been incessantly loving it for 4 months now has Euphoria looking like it'll be there when enough time's passed to compare it.

Comparing "Euphoria" to Cascada is unfair. Cascada is vacuous dirge. "Euphoria" has a wiff of Costa Del Sol, but so what? It's pop dance, with a dash of class.
Just realized that the last time Ireland gave 12 points to the winning song was in 2000. :o

Did they not give 12 to Lordi? :o Even the UK did!

Anyway, Loreen has just landed back in Sweden and she's getting a hero's welcome: http://www.expressen.se/tv/noje/melodifest...reen-i-sverige/

She's definitely going to be up there as a Swedish legend for many years to come, I guess 13 years is a long wait between wins for a country SO obsessed with Eurovision. Every Scandi country apart from Iceland has won now since the turn of the century :o

oh dear, someone let the stupids out.

And someone let the people with no sense of humour out too.

10 to Lordi. 12 to Lithuania (I think). :drama:
