They've confirmed that there album will be getting released in the United States, therefore if What About Us flops, Mercury will still back them!

Why do you compare them to the Spice Girls, tho ? If we should compare the US success of a girlband to The Saturdays, it would be Danity Kane's, and sorry, but I don't really consider "Show Stopper" as their "Wannabe". People are really taking the US thing way too seriously. It's almost like you want them to be the next five Rihanna. They can't even get a top 20 album in the UK with 4 years behind them and suddenly you all want them to be so freaking successful in the US. If they can achieve a similar success to Cher Lloyd, maybe a little less because they won't ever get that kind of promo, then I'll be more than satisfied. I don't consider "Want You Back" to be on the same level of "Wannabe", I don't even consider it to be better than 30 Days. So we'll see. If they flop, SAD, but they are going to move on. It's not like it would be their first one. It's just like...Why do you even care if this flops? They are not going to stop releasing music. I'm sorry if I sound harsh and over-protective or anything, but I really think people have been taking this US thing way too far. Even The Saturdays themselves don't make such a big deal out of it.

I compared them to the Spice Girls for the reasons I stated in my previous post, really. The way the Spice Girls approached America was spot on. I feel like The Saturdays launching with 'What About Us', a song which I presume most people agree is far from being their best work, maybe isn't a good start. It doesn't fill me with much confidence.

I do care if this flops! I am interested in their chart performances & success levels. I have been with many acts I like, it's just an interest of mine. I'm certainly aware that they've managed to carry on in spite of their chart success rate, but I would really like to feel a sense of "fan pride" that they've managed to get everything right with a single campaign. I mean, who knows, maybe that will come with 'What About Us'. I hope so! Just right this second, I'm not too sure.

These are just my opinions, not written because I think I'm absolutely right and everyone should think what I think... you really don't have to go on the defensive! ^_^ I respect your view point.

I am completely with Jay on this one! It's definitely important for the debut single in America to smash. Otherwise there is more of a chance that radio stations over there, won't support the second single, no matter how good it is and in America, getting radio stations behind you is stupidly important! Far more important than it is for radio to support you over here! We HAVE to take this whole campaign in America seriously. They're making a very big and brave step for a group who seem to be clinging on by their fingernails in their home country! Really hope this will work out for them, but I fear that this is the reason they haven't been dropped yet and if they fail in America, it's gonna be "bye bye" to them (I really do hope I'm wrong though, and they still give us a few more things over here regardless of their success in America.)

I'm guessing we may get the first official radio play in the week or so for an early January release then...
It's a chore having to read all these essays..

Again, WTF? It's a discussion forum. What do you want, exactly? Just one line replies?

Honestly.

Jonjo, why are you even alive?
To bring some realism back to the loons that can't seem to think logically and jump on someone as soon as they have a differing opinion.

Oh, and to be best mates with Brandon Flowers.

That my good friend, is why I am alive and here ;P

I seen Brandon Flowers live at Titp. ATMOSPHERE would have been so much better than in a crappy arena :(
But I had physical contact with him! (and Nottingham is the only show they've tweeted about so far during the tour :drink:) #TaftSwag

Oh honey, I said I didn't want to sound too harsh and over-defensive, so sorry if I was. I do like you Jay. Like

:P
Time seems to have flown, I remember a couple of months ago we were all moaning about how far away it is till their next single, only a matter of weeks till we here it :D

The girls are back in the UK today, so I expect them to be gearing up to première (in the next week or so) and promote the UK release of 'What About Us'?

As an indication Amelia Lily is releasing her new single in January and it has already premièred, Taio Cruz is releasing his on 31st December and it premièred a week or so ago. So it's fair to say they should be premièring the single this next week!

It's The Saturdays. They will have a two weeks break for actually taking a three months break in the US, but hey, we still love them. :P

I expect it to hear it in the next three weeks.

I wonder if they'll debut the video/song at the same time? The video was filmed months ago, wasn't it? And if it's released in early January and it probably won't get premiered until late November, I wouldn't be suprised if they just debut both at the same time - and hopefully on MTV or something and not on their website.
I would love them to tease us a bit like they did with Notorious. Five days before the actual radio premiere.
I hope they do a physical release with What About Us and do signing copies like what they did with 30 days, it helped them MAJORLY!
All these little things usually help the promo a lot. They should also do radio tours and stuff. I would love them to forget that they are already established and promote like they weren't instead. A bit like in the beginning : they were literally everywhere. Even on little tv-shows.
I mean if they're releasing the single in January in America, it would take quite a while (if it even happens) for the single to reach its peak. So theres no real reason not to promote ape shit in the UK.
