Robbie Williams' biggest hit to be re-released to celebrate 'Angels' of NHS - and here's how you can feature in the video

The Stoke-on-Trent-born singer has granted permission for a Live Aid-style version of Angels to be released next month

Robbie Williams' biggest ever hit is to be given a Live Aid-style re-working to celebrate the 'Angels' of the NHS.

The pop megastar, who grew up in Burslem and Tunstall, has granted permission for Angels to be re-recorded as a thank you to key workers helping the UK through the coronavirus pandemic.

And fans are being asked to warm up their vocal chords and sing the 1997 number one as part of a group sing-along.

Entries will then be edited into one video, dedicated to the NHS staff, carers, armed forces personnel, delivery drivers, supermarket workers, farmers, emergency services staff and other 'angels'.

The new version will then be re-released to celebrate Staffordshire Day on Friday, May 1.

Tourism group Enjoy Staffordshire, with the help of Staffordshire County Council, is now asking people to record themselves singing the tune and email it in.

Robbie Williams released the original version of Angels in 1997

Mark Winnington, cabinet member responsible for tourism, said: "For Staffordshire Day this year, we want to bring people together and thank the angels who've stepped up to get the nation through the coronavirus crisis.

"A sing-along is a great way to do that, and what better song than Angels for the occasion?

"Robbie's one of our own and we're very proud of him in Staffordshire, and the song is hugely uplifting and meaningful.

"Thank you to Robbie Williams (who is from Burslem) and his management team at IE Music for giving us permission to do this.

"We want as many people as possible to send us a video of them singing the song, whether you have the voice of Pavarotti or only ever dare singing in the shower.

"Let's make a great video and show our angels just how much we love them in Staffordshire."

The video will premiere on YouTube on Friday, May 1, as part of this year's online-only Staffordshire Day programme, which will also features poetry readings, art classes, cooking demonstrations, talks and live music.

The big day has taken the form of being online this year as the country remains on lockdown due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

Who can take part

Anyone, it's really easy to take part.

And whether you feel you have a voice like Pavarotti, or you only ever dare sing in the shower, we want you to be part of this.

How to take part

This karaoke-style ‘sing-along’ video includes all the Angels lyrics.

All you need to do is make a video of yourself singing along to it, and then send it in before the April 26 deadline using one of the methods below.

It is important that when you record yourself that you singalong with your earbuds/headset on, so you can be heard properly (and not the music from the karaoke video).

That will help to edit everyone’s singing together into one big video over an instrumental version of the song.

It is also important that before you begin singing, that you give permission to use your recording, by saying ‘I give permission for this to be used in the Staffordshire Day Angels Video’.

If you are under 16, you will need to get a parent or guardian to give that permission for you on your video.

Here are all of the ways you can get your video to us.

1. WETRANSFER. This is a free online app which allows you to send large files. Just click on this link www.wetransfer.com (opens in new window) and choose the FREE option, and then follow the simple instructions to send your video to us at info@enjoystaffordshire.com.

2. SOCIAL MEDIA: You can post your video onto a social media account, such as YouTube, Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and send us the link to that post by emailing us at info@enjoystaffordshire.com

3. CLOUD: Or you can upload your video into a cloud storage tool like GOOGLE DRIVE, GOOGLE PHOTOS, DROPBOX or iCLOUD and share a link to your video file with us by emailing us at info@enjoystaffordshire.com

Four things to remember...

1. Submit your video sing-along before April 26.

2. Sing with your ear buds or headphones in.

3. Give us your permission to use the video - this must be stated clearly at the beginning by you (or by a parent/guardian if you're under 16).

4. Send your version in by WeTransfer (opens in new window) to info@enjoystaffordshire.com, or upload to social media or the Cloud and send us the link.

Full details of how to get involved in the sing-along, and where to send entries, are available by visiting www.enjoystaffordshire.com/angels

Robbie Williams brands UK 'delusional' over approach to drink and drugs[/b

The former Take That star also said he hopes to 'terrify' his children with tales of his past to ensure they won't make similar decisions to him in terms of drink and drugs

Robbie Williams has expressed his fears that drugs and alcohol are too normalised in British life.

The 46-year-old Take That star has had a long and well documented story of his own involving drug and alcohol dependency, and he says British citizens are “delusional” to think hitting the pub or experimenting with drugs is not a problem.

Rob has been sober for almost 20 years and has been candid about his past issues with substances and stints in rehab.

However he fears that Brits are too accustomed to knocking back drinks or falling in with drugs and is speaking out to urge people to reconsider their actions.

“The thing about drugs and drink is the delusion. In the UK and many places, it’s as natural as breathing,” The Sun reports him saying.

“You just do not think about it — you leave school then you go to the pub and that is it, and then you drink,” he continued.

“We don’t need any of that stuff. Then it becomes a crutch and then people rely on it and I totally get it,” he said.

“But it’s such a crying shame that it is such a natural thing to do. I think it shouldn’t be a natural thing to do,” he argued.

Robbie is father to seven-year-old daughter Theodora, five-year-old son Charlton, 18-month-old daughter Colette, and two-month-old son Beau.

He added he would be honest with his children about about his past issues with drugs, and hopes to “terrify” them with his tales so they won’t make similar mistakes.

The Angels singer, originally from Stoke, now lives in Los Angeles with his children and wife, Ayda Field, 40.

Robbie has previously explained that Sir Elton John was instrumental in helping him confront his drug use.

He credits the 73-year-old I’m Still Standing star for checking him into a clinic to seek help.

Easy for journalists these days. The celebrities do all the work for them.

Robbie can be heard singing: 'Give you some nutrition. Oh Beau Beau, oh Beau Beau.'

The couple did not let the lockdown stop them from enjoying a date night on Friday where they dressed up for a dinner at home.

Actress Ayda shared a gorgeous photo of the duo outside their impressive house where they both donned green suits.

She put on a leggy display in her leafy printed shorts and matching blazer teamed with a pink shirt and black court shoe heels.

Robbie Williams tries out 'from the vault' material including a stab at rapping

Robbie has been testing some of his archived material out on fans to see what they reckon while he's in isolation with his family

Robbie Williams has gone rap again - but don’t worry, it’s not another Rudebox.

The singer has been trialling out new material “from the vault” during Instagram live streams to gauge a reaction from fans.

One new song sees him collaborate with a female rapper - which could be Brit star Stefflon Don - and thankfully she spits the X-rated bars, while he sticks to singing, referencing Joan of Arc with lyrics that include a chorus of: “Yes, Queen.”

Another titled Summer Nights, written by his regular collaborator, Aussie Flynne Francis, will be “released at the right time”, he teases.

His cover of Come on Eileen (yes, really) “turned out well”, he says, while he also plans to record his own version of Your Disco Needs You, which he and Guy Chambers wrote for Kylie Minogue.

Robbie has been open about his battle with coronavirus symptoms, saying that he turned to prayer and thoughts of his family to help him through.

He self-isolated away from loved ones when he returned to Los Angeles from Australia, which made it all the tougher for Robbie to recover.

Robbie thought of his family and prayed to help him through the symptoms

The Rock DJ singer is married to American actress Ayda Field, and the pair share kids Theodora, seven, Charlton, five, Colette, 18 months, and Beau, one month.

He spent his time in a nearby AirBnB, telling The Sun On Sunday : "I could feel my body was getting lethargic, and tired, and heavy, and I convinced myself I'd got coronavirus.

"I never normally do it but I got down on my knees and prayed. I thought about my life and family.

"Within 30 seconds I had lifted my vibration and was in love."

Ronan Keating to Duet with Shania Twain, Robbie Williams and More on New Album

One of the best-loved singers of our generation Ronan Keating reveals a truly extraordinary gang of guest vocalists from all walks of musical life to duet on his new album, 'Twenty Twenty', out on Decca Records on 1st May.

The powerfully emotive 'The Big Goodbye' features Ronan's long-time friend Robbie Williams and came about in particularly poignant circumstances. The loss of Stephen Gately had affected Robbie almost as much as it had affected the boys in Boyzone. The day of his death, Robbie began writing a song.

Ronan says, "It was the tenth anniversary of the passing of Stephen from Boyzone and I got an email from Robbie saying: 'Mate, just saw you on Loose Women with the boys, you're looking well - but I can't believe it's 10 years since Stephen died.' He sent me the song he had written and the moment I listened to the song I was in tears. Together, Robbie and I changed round the arrangement, adapting the vocals so it worked as a duet. It's a deeply personal song for both of us."

Written by the same writing team behind 'When You Say Nothing at All', 'Forever And Ever, Amen' is another cornerstone moment on the album and sees Ronan duet with country music superstar Shania Twain two decades after a lost collaboration between the pair. Ronan explains, "Shania and I were meant to do something together 20 years ago on one of her songs, 'From This Moment'. That never came about, so it felt especially right to reach out now. 'Forever And Ever, Amen' is a true country gem so to team up with the original writers and producer of 'Nothing At All', twenty years on makes it all the more special"

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Alison Krauss stars on Ronan's most-loved hit 'When You Say Nothing At All', with Ed SHeeran on guitar. Ronan says, "Ed's a pal, and he said he'd love to play guitar on the new version of 'When You Say Nothing At All', which is incredible. I reached out to Alison too and for her to agree to duet was the icing on the cake. I owe so much to this song so it's great that she's part of this special 2020 version."

Also joining Ronan is pop star Nina Nesbitt on the heart-warming ballad 'The One'. Recorded at Metropolis Studios, Ronan says, "I met Nina at Metropolis and we hit it off straight away. She has a such a lovely way about her and when she went into the vocal booth, I just thought 'wow'! She sounded incredible."

CLARE BOWEN, best known for her role as Scarlett O'Connor on the hit TV series Nashville, joins Ronan on the stunning 'Love Will Remain'. Ronan says, "I co-wrote the song with Steve Robson & Rachel Furner and it was going to be a duet all along. My wife, Storm and I are big fans of 'Nashville' and we just thought one night, how cool would it be if 'Scarlett' would duet with me! So I owe Clare a big thanks"

Ronan has released some of the defining pop songs of the past two decades which simply had to be featured on the album - 'Life is a Rollercoaster' and 'Lovin' Each Day' are here brilliantly reworked, bringing back memories but with a celebratory 2020 twis

On Instagram earlier today (Friday, April 23), the Candy hitmaker, 46, posted a photo of himself in nothing but a tiny pair of black briefs. ( he has hair so that's an old photo ) - unless it's a topper

In the picture, which the dad-of-four simply captioned, "Informal Friday", he can be seen walking through a lounge, tattoos and hairy chest on full display.

22 bathrooms is just a total waste , maybe the dogs have one each -_-

The couple purchased the property in 2015 for a whopping £26million ($32.1m) and it boasts 10 bedrooms and a staggering 22 bathrooms in total

While wife Ayda has been sharing glimpses into their Beverly Hills mansion and family life with children Theodora, seven, Charlton, five, Colette, 18-months, and baby Beau, born in February, to her own social media.

The 24,000 square foot abode features a gym with its own ballet studio, a tennis court, sprawling garden and a swimming pool, complete with a sizeable pool house.

Ayda has been predominately sharing snaps from their sitting room, which has a light, airy and bohemian style, for her workout videos.

The room features lots of natural light thanks to floor-to-ceiling wooden windows and doors which go outside into their sprawling garden area.

Robbie and Ayda have opted for white walls with light grey wood panels, gold light fixtures and wooden floors in their family room.

Do you think it's Maureen?

I doubt Maureen ever has a duster in her hand  , the staff in that house must have very interesting jobs as they have very unusual clients -_-

Robbie Williams and wife Ayda Field raided each other's wardrobes on Friday and showed off their new looks on Instagram – leaving fans in hysterics.

"@robbiewilliams We've swapped clothes and fragrances...it must be FORMAL FRIDAY #switchingitup #whenhisbecomeshersandvisaversa#ismelllikeacactus #androbbielooksbetterinmydressthanido #formalfriday AWxx," the mother-of-four commented alongside a picture of Robbie and her wearing each other's clothes.

Singer Robbie, 44, could be seen pouting to the camera whilst wearing a green dress with a high slit and deep V neck. He accessorised his look with black pearl slippers and a pink eye mask. Ayda, on the other hand, wore one of the singer's summer suits and brown Gucci slippers.

Fans were delighted with the swap, with one commenting: "Nice legs guys! I am starting to get used to this... love the posts on Friday," whilst another one wrote: "A word for your hubby…décolletage (you’re also brave putting your feet in those Gucci slippers)."
