How come this is showing up as my post Tess?

The bit in bold I didn't post - my post finished at "At 3.30 I'll have everything crossed for him " - who's added the extra bit on but it's showing in my name?

Laura. I apologise, that was my fault , I meant to quote you in my post but I hit the edit button by mistake hence the reason my post appeared in the middle of yours. As mod I have the ability to edit peoples posts...i shall fix it.

Listening to the BBC this morning they did not seem to know why Robbie flipped the finger as they said in the middle of a perfectly enjoyable routine & this is exactly the reason why I was disappointed that he did that in particular yesterday , Robbie could have responded to the press in another way at a later date because most folk looking in yesterday would have had no idea what had been going on with the press for the last couple of days & so would have thought that he was just being rude . It's a shame all the headlines are about that one incident & not of the spectacular performance that he gave alongside that lovely girl Aida I wonder if Aida's name is pronounced the same as the other lovely Ayda , bit of a coincidence don't you think

It was lovely to hear the crowd sing along with Robbie & Aida during Angels

You can hear R & A singing Angels - starting @ 3.11 in the link below , I though it was fab ... what a great song & to think we heard it from Moscow yesterday at the World Cup is just fabulous

I wonder if Robbie will tour in Russia next year , strike while the iron is hot

What does Better Man say?

And in general, what do you think in here. Did he do himself a favour or will this haunt him eternally? The British Press seems to be very harsh.

It will be forgotten eventually Elisabeth. In fairness he should have said something about it during the week, not just doing a partial video saying he was doing the gig for free & only his fans seeing that video , it's the headlines that people look at & what they see in front of them , he is not a stupid guy but totally naive at times . His audience in the UK has decreased over recent years anyway but it will do his International profile no harm at all ....

Robbie will do all right, always has ;)

What does Better Man say?

Our media and ordinary people liked him!

I read and hear more funny and positive feedback on his performance and on 'the thing' as well.

So everything's fine here about him, I confirm.

Regarding overall Ceremony the reaction is more restrained: after great opening in Sochi Olympics people were waiting for something more pompous.

Maybe it's their mistake due the fact WC OC is usually more simple :)

That's ok Tess no problem ^_^

I'm fairly sure it won't haunt him. I'd be surprised if he regrets it. I love him for his spark and he said what was on his mind. That's him.

However - it's a Shame it's all the UK media is focused on this morning and not the brilliant performance.

Controversy always accompanies him. This is no different.

Someone said he's on This Morning next Tuesday? Is that correct?

That'll be the X Factor announcement then. ;)

He makes it look so eay...he was full of confidence yesterday

He does maje it look easy.

I enjoyed his smile when the crowd cheered as Feel started. You could see he appreciated it. ^_^

I heard either that he is there on Tuesday and I also think that it will be the x-factor. I can imagine that Ayda will take over for him in November when he is in South America.

Thank you Better Man for your answer. For me it is horrible how one sided the UK media is especially knowing that they are controlled by very few with very strong ideas of what is right or wrong.

I am not excusing anything in the world what is bad to other people. But as a country every government should think about its own past. Then stretch out the hand. We only have one life and one planet. Sorry, for getting a bit political.

I love Rob doing what he does. That is 'my'Rob again

Robbie Williams' World Cup Performance Had Twitter Totally Confused

It turns out, Robbie Williams is pretty popular in Russia (who knew?). So much so that he was asked to perform at the World Cup 2018 opening ceremony on Thursday afternoon. Now, it's the morning after the night before, and I have a feeling organisers may be regretting that invitation. I mean, Robbie Williams' World Cup performance certainly got people talking and generated press, but it was for a rather unexpected reason.

Allow me to fill you in on exactly what went down. When Williams first walked out on the Luzhniki Stadium pitch, he looked the picture of health and the crowd seemed beyond excited as he opened with OG classic Let Me Entertain You, before launching into slower numbers — but no less bangers — like Feel and Angels. However, when he started to wrap things up, drama went down.

As he strolled off the pitch, the singer approached one of the stadium's camera operators and randomly decided to put his middle finger up to everyone watching at home. The random gesture meant that despite his energy on the pitch and flawless vocals, Williams' performance will be mostly remembered for this one distinct detail as opposed to his actual talent. Obviously, it's a pretty major deal and viewers on Twitter had a few things to say about it:

@robbiewilliams giving the world the finger while I was watching with my 7 years old kid for the first time the World Cup is quite offensive, so many fans are disappointed, but it gave me a chance to teach him about respect and responsibility.

Surely Robbie Williams will get fined for the middle finger salute.

Doesn’t he realise that kids will be watching it?

#WorldCupRussia2018 Did @robbiewilliams just do the middle finger into the camera for the opening celebration of the world cup? This is meant to be a positive celebration for children to relate to. What is wrong with this guy?

If you're anything like me, you're probably wondering what the heck prompted Williams to give the world the finger? I reached out to his publicist to find out, but so far, no comment. Fox News, however, did have something to say. You see, it was a Fox News cameraman that Williams flipped the finger at, and the company is not impressed with his cheeky shenanigans. In fact, a spokesperson has since spoken out to the Hollywood Reporter to say sorry: "As it was broadcast live, we did not know what would happen during Robbie Williams's performance and we apologise."

But again, why did he do it? Some people on Twitter seem to think it was simply because he was trying to show the world that he is still very much rock and roll. Meanwhile, others are convinced it was some kind of political statement. Then, there are those that reckon he was trying to get publicity for album sales.

Why gave #RobbieWilliams the middle finger to the camera??? I don't get it? Political statement or just for fun to be cool? #WorldCup

Of course, while there has been speculation as to why Williams did what he did and whether he should have done it at all, there are also people that praised him for it. I guess he hasn't lost his touch just yet.

Flipping the bird at billions of viewers aside, Robbie could be heading for tamer pastimes a little later this year when the hoo-ha blows over. Indeed, if rumours are to be believed, the singer is heading to the X Factor judging panel to replace Louis Walsh, who announced his departure earlier this month. In an even more surprising turn of events, The Mirror has reported that Williams' wife Ayda Field will be joining him. Well, weirder things have happened.

But, anyway. Back to the World Cup.

The 2018 World Cup kicked-off in Russia on Thursday with a match between competition host Russia and the team's group rivals Saudi Arabia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. The first game of the tournament saw Russia storm to victory with a 5-0 win over Saudi Arabia, emerging as the frontrunners of their own group. The second game of the tournament will air on Friday and see Egypt face off against Uruguay.

The international footballing tournament will last until July 15, when a winner will eventually be crowned.

Robbie Williams is the neighbour from hell: Led Zepplin's Jimmy Page reveals the treasures and works of art which he claims are being put at risk by the pop star's construction aspirations http://a.msn.com/07/en-au/AAyIhTs?ocid=st

It seems it's not just RW that Jimmy Page is at war with - it's also his other neighbour on the other side "The man from the Pru"

This whole story line gets more bizarre by the minute. How strange that JP has gone to the Daily Fail. Is he trying to get public support do you think? It's all a bit odd.

I think Robbie and Ayda would do well to get out and move on. They're never going to see eye to eye with JP. Maybe that doesn't matter I don't know.
