June 15, 201213 yr Radio 1 are able to censor songs themselves. They've done it many times before. On my own computer I have a program called Audacity that you can use to mute or distory swear words in songs. Have you all forgotten their special edit they did for S&M? You asume that the chart show producers have the ability to prepare for the show. They don't.

June 16, 201213 yr You asume that the chart show producers have the ability to prepare for the show. They don't. Of course they do - AIUI the weekly charts get sent out to subscribers at midday Sunday, so 4 hours is more than long enough for them to prepare.

June 16, 201213 yr Handy little program, Audacity - it allows me to cut out parts of songs that I don't like - the start of Umbrella, for example... ;) Do you have it too?! Yeah, it's very easy for them to blank out swear words. I'm SURE Radio 1 must have a program that does that, it's pretty basic technology I think... They did it with Talk That Talk by Rihanna. If anybody remembers, when it charted in 2011, they couldn't play it in the mid-week update because of all the swear words in Jay-Z's verse. But by Sunday Radio 1 had clearly made an edit where they blanked out a lot of the words. When it recharted in 2012, they had a completely different version with most of the swear words in Jay-Z's verse replaced with cleaner alternatives, rather than just muted out, so that was clearly the radio edit that the record label had sent to radio when Talk That Talk was promoted as a single.
