September 23, 201212 yr I have my audition for this tomorrow in front of the producers, I am really hoping I make it to the round in front of the judges although if I don't then at least I can say I gave it a go :kink: Best of luck! Fingers crossed for you

Really hope it goes well for you. Have you decided which you're going to perform? :D 'Game Player' for UK no. 1 in 2013? *.*
September 24, 201212 yr Wow, that's brilliant. Really hope it goes well for you. Have you decided which you're going to perform? :D 'Game Player' for UK no. 1 in 2013? *.* Thank you guys! I am singing 'Black and Gold' as my acapella and if I get through that one, then I am going to sing 'Shelter' with a backing track. You never know Hitstastic, you never know.
November 13, 201212 yr The difficulty they are always going to have is that we've become so accustomed to reality shows going one way or another - fireworks and hyperbole like the X Factor, or credibility and middle-aged audiences like Strictly. The first series demonstrated that it's very difficult to cut through the middle effectively, although they did get the right idea in a lot of ways. The Battle Rounds were where they lost me (and many others) though, far too screechy and repetitive. Altering that is key to making it a more lucrative show, the judges were fine (although Ricky Wilson in place of Danny, as they initially wanted, may have been more fun). And working out some way to plug the winner's single without violating BBC regulations.

Altering that is key to making it a more lucrative show, the judges were fine (although Ricky Wilson in place of Danny, as they initially wanted, may have been more fun). The battle rounds (and the live shows) have been changed slightly in the US this time and that seems to be holding up better as a result so hopefully they do the same for our version. I'm surprised that they aren't making at least one change to the panel though..
November 13, 201212 yr I'm more interested in who's going to host the new series. Reggie's clearly been fired by the BBC, and Holly would probably be too embarrassed to go back (despite currently presenting the awful Surprise, Surprise!). They only needed one presenter in the first place, I'd like to see Greg James on there though. Edited November 13, 201212 yr by THEO.
November 13, 201212 yr I agree 100% about the whole plugging the winner's single. If the BBC can't allow any mention of a winner's single, then the BBC is not the right channel to be responsible for a talent show where the end product is a winner with a winner's single. Also agree about the whole shouting/screaming vocsls. My dad's fave contestant on The Voice was Aleks (I think he was called?) because he had a singing voice that appealed to an older audience. Yet Jessie J didn't like his singing ability because he didn't scream and shout his way through every performance. They could make the show work quite easily, but I suppose it's down to what the producers want from the show. They need to avoid favouritism because that will put the public right off regardless of how good they are. Also does each judge really have to have one act in the final?
November 13, 201212 yr I'm not keen on Greg James as a radio presenter (although he does have a face for TV), would rather have Nick Grimshaw personally. Also does each judge really have to have one act in the final? That's one alteration that has been made to the American version so I could see the same happening here, it was always one thing that bugged me.
November 13, 201212 yr Not changing the panel is a huge mistake. They had no chemistry once it got to the live rounds.
November 13, 201212 yr That's one alteration that has been made to the American version so I could see the same happening here, it was always one thing that bugged me. Here's hoping. :D I would've much preferred Tom Jones to have had Leanne and Ruth in the final 4 in place of that tragic thing called Vince Kidd (I still reckon Ruth got more public votes than Vince in that quarter final stage).
November 13, 201212 yr The shout-off round was definitely the worst part of the show so I hope they replace that. If they stick to a head-to-head format then let them sing separately. I agree that the one finalist per coach is a bit of a problem although it would obviously need a change to the mentoring if they drop that. Mind you, if it meant screechy Ruth as well as screechy Leaanne in the final then matybe it's not such a good idea.
November 13, 201212 yr I like having one finalist per coach thing. It prevents the show becoming a battle of egos between coaches. And the battle rounds are brilliant!
November 13, 201212 yr I have my audition for this tomorrow in front of the producers, I am really hoping I make it to the round in front of the judges although if I don't then at least I can say I gave it a go :kink: How did it go?! :D
November 13, 201212 yr How did it go?! :D Yeah, it went well and I got through the first round with the vocal coach there and she said I was really good, which I was really pleased with, however I did the backing track one later in the day and although at the time they said it went really well, they sent me an email a few weeks later saying they were not asking me for a callback because I was just too young and inexperienced in the performance side of things. I am not too upset though because hardly anyone got through the a-capella round, and I was in a group with some amazing people (you go ten at a time) and many of them didn't even get through. However I had to be interviewed at the end of the audition day, and for a show that prides itself on 'no sob stories' they were asking very personal questions like 'how is your relationship with your father?' and 'have you ever been bullied?'
November 13, 201212 yr Aww, well you took some positives from it then, which is obviously a good thing - and the vocal coach saying things will obviously give you the confidence to go on and try more stuff in the future. Shame you didn't get further, but I remember Tom auditioned last year and said he wasn't too gutted because some amazing people didn't get through. Seems like they have a real high standard, which is a good thing. Well done anyway, sounds like you've done yourself proud anyway! Not surprised at some of those questions, they said last year they weren't about the sob stories, but they did play on quite a few peoples really.
November 13, 201212 yr Seems like they have a real high standard, which is a good thing. Vince Kidd? High standard? Sounds about right. :D
November 13, 201212 yr Vince Kidd? High standard? Sounds about right. :D Well, quite a few people were invited by producers, and I'm pretty sure he had a following before the show - so he was probably one of the invited ones, opposed to the audition people like Davidson. Those are probably of a high standard, to try and match up with the supposed high standard of the producers choices.
