August 7, 2012 — Santa Monica, CA — This year’s breakout pop sensation Carly Rae Jepsen will release her eagerly anticipated U.S. debut album, entitled, Kiss, on September 18th via 604 Records/Schoolboy Records/Interscope Records. The Canadian singer and songwriter wrote or co-wrote songs on the album, collaborating with songwriters and producers Max Martin, Dallas Austin, LMFAO’s Redfoo, Toby Gad, Marianas Trench singer Josh Ramsay and Matthew Koma. Jepsen’s latest single “Good Time,” a duet with Owl City, has climbed to No. 3 on the Pop Chart, No. 5 on the iTunes Singles chart, and No. 13 on Billboard’s Hot 100, while the video, featuring Jepsen and Young, has racked up more than six million views on VEVO.

“These are lyric and song ideas that I have been collecting over the years,” Jepsen says of Kiss. “I can’t tell you how lucky I feel to be able to collaborate with some of my dream producers. It has been the most fulfilling experience. The record is pop. It’s inspired by Robyn, The Cars, Madonna, and believe it or not, James Taylor. I can’t wait to share it with everyone! Kiss.”

Jepsen has been riding high with the success of her smash single “Call Me Maybe,” which has sold more than 7.3 million singles worldwide and has spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100 so far, tying Goyte’s “Somebody That I Used To Know” for most weeks atop the chart this year. Certified quintuple-platinum in Jepsen’s native Canada (where it also hit No. 1), the track is an international sensation, climbing to No. 1 in the iTunes Singles charts in over 37 countries including the U.S. U.K., Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Norway and more. It also earned her a 2012 MTV Video Music Award nomination for Best New Artist.

To celebrate the upcoming release of Kiss, Jepsen will make a series of high-profile TV appearances in August. She will perform “Call Me Maybe” and “Good Time” with Owl City on The Today Show on August 23rd, and at the Arthur Ashe Kids Day at the U.S. Open on CBS on August 26th. She will also perform “Good Time” with Owl City on America’s Got Talent on August 22nd, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on August 28th, and on Conan on August 29th. Jepsen has already performed at the Billboard Music Awards and the Teen Choice Awards, and well as on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Live! With Kelly, and The View, and was featured as “Person of the Week” on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer.

This fall, Jepsen hits the road with Justin Bieber as a very special guest on the multi-platinum Pop/R&B star’s 2012 headlining tour of North America. For details, please visit www.carlyraemusic.com.

ahhhhhhhhhhh so exciting! i really hope its a hit for her, shes so good.
Oh fun. I'm not a huge fan of the title (could do with being a bit longer) but it suits her, at least! It does seem to me that it could be all over the place, though. The main name I have a problem with is Redfoo. Not even because LMFAO are bad (though they are), but how on Earth would something like Sexy And I Know It fit in with Call Me Maybe?! Anyway, I'm happy to have a release date and hear of promo for Good Time but I'm taking from this that there won't be another single before the album. I'm OK with Good Time being the album launcher but I really do hope it can be massive in the UK now, I really want her album to be a success.
There's no way 'Good Time' isn't going to be huge, easy #01 I should think even if it does have competition from The Killers and Tulisa.

I don't think it's anywhere near as certain as you make out. It hasn't been THAT massive worldwide, nobody seems to have a clue what's going on with the release and Radio 1 are blanking it. People are assuming it's going to be big on name alone, really.

I can't really see it getting to #1 to be honest, same week as Sam & The Womp so I very much doubt it'll do it, then Little Mix the week after. It'll probably be like Moves Like Jagger (on a MUCH lower scale of course) and hang around the top 3 for a few weeks but never quite make it.

I do wonder if Radio 1 might playlist before the official release though? It still will probably peak before then regardless, unless they make it album only on Owl City's album.

Hey guys, tomorrow is a big day. I'm revealing the cover of my debut album!

Very excited! :cheer: But why did she put her 'debut album'?

Am I being thick by saying that it's a little risky them relying on "Call Me Maybe" and "Good Time" to sell the album? Surely they should put a new song out there?!

Not sure about the cover. It's a FAIRLY pretty picture and I like the "Carly Rae Jepsen" font but I don't like the placement of the album title and I don't know. I'm not mad on it, not sure if it will look any better on the physical CD either. But I think it could work with a digipak.

I agree.

Think the picture doesn't actually do her any justice at all tbh, Kiss sounds fun, romantic, cute - but she looks a bit mardy, and I too don't like the letter in each corner. Not great.

I quite like the cover too! It's an odd way to arrange the album title I guess, but Carly Rae is clearly all about setting new trends in pop music.
I like this <3 I cant see the album being a big seller but I wish.
That's a really good cover, she's stunning and it's a really nice font! I do think the placement of Kiss is odd but it's not too bad really.
