Results time!

First, dropping out spectacularly:

50 [**] 36 Fall Out Boy - Dance, Dance

49 [**] 55 Christina Aguilera - Ain't No Other Man

48 [26] 78 Mary J. Blige and U2 - One

47 [**] 86 Mary J. Blige - Be Without You

46 [41] 90 Fedde Le Grand - Put Your Hands Up For Detroit

45 [36] 91 Nerina Pallot - Everybody's Gone To War

44 [30] 97 Sugababes - Red Dress

43 [**] 109 Oakenfold feat. Brittany Murphy - Faster Kill Pussycat

42 [48] 115 Infernal - From Paris To Berlin

41 [23] 122 Nelly Furtado feat. Timbaland -Promiscuous

40 [45] 122 All Saints - Rock Steady

39 [**] 123 The Pipettes - Pull Shapes

38 [**] 125 Shakira - Don't Bother

37 [34] 129 Muse - Starlight

36 [22] 130 Cassie - Me & U

Ten out of fifteen qualifiers crash straight out, including four which suffered the same fate last year. Poor old Fall Out Boy never stood a chance and finish well short of all the competition in fiftieth place. Perhaps more surprisingly than that Christina Aguilera's lowest entry is also some distance from third last, but the gaps get smaller from that point upwards. No major dropouts (i.e. from last year's top 20), but Cassie comes close, just missing out after coming 22nd last time.

35 [**] 135 Madonna - Get Together

34 [31] 138 The Kooks - Naïve

33 [27] 139 Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dogg - Buttons

32 [17] 141 Rihanna - SOS

31 [37] 142 Jamelia - Something About You

30 [16] 142 Cascada - Everytime We Touch

29 [15] 143 Arctic Monkeys - When The Sun Goes Down

28 [20] 145 Madonna - Sorry

27 [47] 154 My Chemical Romance - Welcome To The Black Parade

26 [35] 154 Lily Allen - LDN

25 [25] 155 Jamelia - Beware Of The Dog

24 [6] 156 Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child

23 [18] 157 Take That - Patience

22 [32] 157 Lily Allen - Smile

21 [33] 158 Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars

20 [**] 161 Muse - Knights Of Cydonia

19 [28] 161 Bodyrox feat. Luciana - Yeah Yeah

18 [24] 163 Chicane feat. Tom Jones - Stoned In Love

17 [2] 166 Girls Aloud - Something Kinda Ooooh

16 [46] 167 José González - Heartbeats

15 [19] 169 The Killers - When You Were Young

14 [8] 170 Christina Aguilera - Hurt

13 [5] 177 Rihanna - Unfaithful

12 [29] 184 Justin Timberlake feat. Timbaland - SexyBack

11 [11] 184 Amy Winehouse - Rehab

And the rest of the qualifiers all finish in the 11-35 section, all auto-qualifying for next year but not carrying on any further this year. The highest brand new entry is Muse's 'Knights Of Cydonia' which goes in at 20th, so they keep two autoqualifiers for next year despite 'Starlight' dropping out this time. The highest of the qualifiers overall is José González's Heartbeats, which leaps from a shoddy 46th place finish last year to 16th this time. My Chemical Romance also make a 47-27 bound, Jamelia clips in 37-31 with 'Something About You' and Madonna comes in at #35 with 'Get Together'. Biggest ouch of the round and possibly the whole thing so far as Girls Aloud crash from their straight-to-the-final 2nd place finish last year to just seventeenth this time round with 'Something Kinda Ooooh'. Rihanna, Christina Aguilera and Rogue Traders also evacuate the top 10 so we have four new songs in contention for the final!

10 [10] 188 Muse - Supermassive Black Hole

9 [7] 195 Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean - Hips Don't Lie

8 [9] 197 P!nk - U + Ur Hand

7 [14] 203 Snow Patrol feat. Martha Wainwright - Set The Fire To The Third Bar

6 [3] 217 Beyoncé - Irreplaceable

5 [4] 223 P!nk - Who Knew

4 [12] 229 Sigur Rós - Hoppípolla

And only two of those songs crop up in the 4-10 region, meaning we have two songs leaping from outside the top 10 to inside the top 3! Sigur Rós nearly did the same with 'Hoppípolla' jumping 12-4 and missing out on the top 3 by just three points, while Snow Patrol were a bit further off with their Martha Wainwright-featuring 'Set The Fire To The Third Bar' improving 14-7. At least it isn't 'Chasing Cars' eh. 'Irreplaceable' leaves the top 3 dropping 3-6, while P!nk 'Who Knew' and Shakira 'Hips Don't Lie' also make small drops, Muse 'Supermassive Black Hole' stays put and P!nk's other top 10 entry 'U + Ur Hand' climbs a place from last year.

3 [21] 232 Nelly Furtado - All Good Things (Come To An End)

2 [13] 257 Gnarls Barkley - Crazy

1 [1] 339 Nelly Furtado - Maneater

Nelly Furtado tops it again with 'Maneater' maintaining a comfortable lead despite only receiving one 20. Furtado also gains a second straight-to-the-final song to dominate 66.7% of the top 3, with the superior 'All Good Things (Come To An End)' flying up from #21 to #3. Gnarls Barkley prevent 100% Nelly domination, also with a large improvement of 13-2 with their 'Crazy'.

Oh they're pretty epic results. 4 BRILLIANT songs moving into the top 10 in the expense of Rihanna and Girls Aloud's most hideously overrated tracks! :D

If Liam and Robot hadn't both given 'Hurt' 20 points at the last minute it might not have qualified, from 8th last year! :o

Best results yet by a margin - FINALLY a genuinely diverse top 10, with that rather terrible Girls Aloud song dropping out and the wonderfully underrated All Good Things and the amazing Hoppipolla, Crazy and Set The Fire... coming top 10   also, MCR don't DNQ for the first time :D

BAH at Unfaithful falling out of the top 10... although I suppose My Chemical Romance qualifying for next year and Set The Fire To The Third Bar making it to the playoffs makes up for that.

I would have rather Crazy and All Good Things stayed where they were but if there's a shock or two then fine.

Oh COME ON, how did that utter shit come 2nd?

U + Ur Hand is Pink's most overrated single too, 7/10 all over! Meh results :( Glad to see Hurt not crashing and burning though and Who Knew/Irreplaceable top 10  Plus Nelly SLAYING.

Pretty awful top three with the exception of "Maneater" "Irreplaceable", "Hips Don't Lie" and (of the other songs in the top ten) "Set the Fire to the Third Bar" should all be top three instead.

Hips Don't Lie is a mess. It sounds so dated and it's only been 6 years.

I agree with Jark, 'Hips Don't Lie' sounds dreadful these days, although I was never a fan. GUTTED that Cassie is so low! :( Same sentiments to 'Buttonz' and 'Something About You' and 'SOS' too.

So happy to see both Nelly songs do so well! <3

I agree with absolutely everything here ++ poor Madonna ++ POOR BODYROX :( don't you people know jams when you HEAR THEM

Eww. The two most overrated tracks of this particular year finishing top 2. :puke: Nelly F has far, far better from that era! 'Promiscuous' is her best ever song and it fell about 20 places?! What kinda f***ery is that? :drama: 'All Good Things' isn't THAT good either. Meh results for me too, I'm afraid. :( Nice to see Snow Patrol, Beyoyo and P!nk (both) through to the play offs.
