Why is everyone talking about 'chasing trends' here lately? I'm seeing those words everywhere!

Anyhoo, really loving this song on first listen. Think this could be a sizeable airplay hit in the states.

I'd assume it's because there are a lot of popular female popstars who are producing dance hits - presumably because it's the 'in thing' rather than because they want to. It's refreshing to see people like Mariah and Pink sticking to their guns.

Having listened to the song, I think only rhythmic and urban will play it a lot, which means it'll only get around 50 million AI maximum, and that's best case scenario (i.e. it peaking on both formats at the same time, and providing it actually goes near the top of those respective charts in the first place). That's a decent amount of airplay obviously, but nothing spectucular.

I love the song though. Absolutely brilliant. I'm very excited for her album.

I agree, but I'd almost say it's more of a problem with the R&B singers, especially the male ones like Ne-Yo, Usher, Chris Brown, etc. It's actually gotten to the stage where it's surprising when they don't release a europop song as a single. At least with the pop stars, they're still staying within the pop genre when they do it.

I rather like it. Not her best obviously, but no way the worst thing she's released! <3 It does need more Mariah on it though!

It's much more crushing when a decent female popstar succumbs to it because you know it's so beneath her. The likes of Ne-Yo and Chis Brown are only ever as good as their last single. Male popstars don't do great albums.

9 times out of 10 it's true. There hasn't been a universally adored male pop album (by a mainstream artist) since FutureSex/LoveSounds!

Actually quite liking the sound of this. Up until now I've only ever been a fan of 'Obsessed', the rest I'll be happy to never hear again!

At the "risk" of giving you another 'Blackout' moment, listen to 'Emancipation of Mimi'. I'm surprised you're not a fan of 'It's Like That', at least actually.
This didn't impress me on first listen and went a bit in one ear, out the other but after repeat listens (the automatic replay on the site is clearly GENIUS marketing) it is pretty incredible. Really much better than I'd expected. There isn't QUITE enough of Mariah but I don't mind too much, the raps aren't terrible and I love Mariah when she's actually there. Really, really good effort overall I think. Not sure if it will smash (I don't think Pop radio will totally ignore it, unlike Eric, but I can't see it setting iTunes alight) but I'd love if it did, I'm so happy Mariah's came back with something like this. Officially EXCITED for the album.

Part of that album's success imo was also just that the singles were amazing. Songs like My Love, What Goes Around, even Summer Love, will get people curious to check out his album. They were so unique, especially at the time! Whilst songs like Beautiful Monster, Turn Up the Music, Scream are just so uninteresting. I like both Chris's and Usher's most recent albums, but firstly, (almost) all the album tracks are absolutely nothing like the singles, and secondly, nobody is actually going to listen to these albums in the first place, because of the boring singles, so they don't even have the chance to be universally adored, since most people will never hear them.

So I don't think we'll get an album that popular again until we get a male pop star that releases good singles, since the first step to that is getting people to listen to the album, which artists like Usher and Chris are just failing to do (and it's their own fault).

I'm really liking the song but it doesn't need as many rap bits. Remove some of them and its a pretty good comeback song. Not sure if it'll be a hit, but who cares...

Loving it now, it left me slightly underwhelmed on first listen but the chorus had well and truly wormed it's way into my head, and I had the urge to listen again and again, repeated listens and I am sold! I'm not even really that fussed on the rappers being so present, this is really reminding me of the Mimi era mixed with classic Mariah but still so current.

Bring on the album!

How damn boring. No where near enough Mariah, this better grow on me.

Her vocals sound way better on the remix, plus I like the absence of the rappers. I wonder if it was Morales who did it?

Mariah Carey ?@MariahCarey

To relive the splendor of when I used to rewrite+resing all my club remixes, this is for the lambily & there's much more 2 come @joeyarbagey
